Make a round tabletop with your own hands. How to make a great round wooden table with your own hands. Do-it-yourself wooden gazebo table

Beautiful folding round table made of wood for the kitchen-dining room

Tiny Soviet-style kitchens are not able to accommodate furniture and household appliances necessary in this room. Putting an ordinary kitchen table is already a problem, it will clutter up the whole space there. The only way to somehow solve this problem is to use a sliding table instead of the usual one.

Kitchen sliding table folded and unfolded in the interior of the room

Extendable dining table - the secret of successful hospitality

Usually furniture is bought in a store, but our people have long found another way out of the situation - to make it with their own hands. Indeed, spending about twenty thousand rubles for, in general, simple thing kind of stupid if you can make it yourself.

Dining furniture for the kitchen, made by hand

Wooden oval extendable table with a set of chairs

The desire to make a sliding table gives rise to many problems, and the first of them prompts the master to decide what kind of table he needs? If we do not take into account the very exotic models, then all the tables known to us are divided into two types: round and rectangular.

Rectangular folding table for permanent use and for receiving guests

Extendable round table made of natural wood after unfolding it becomes oval and can accommodate more people

Round, or rather sliding oval table - a reality Everyday life modern people, making this oval is no more difficult than a rectangle.

Oval glass sliding table in a modern interior

Another thing is when you set yourself the task of making a sliding table of the correct round shape, including in the extended state. It is difficult to assemble such a piece of furniture, the number of parts that make it up is too large and for this it will be necessary to solve a number of engineering issues or use other people's solutions, which will not significantly simplify the work ahead. For a practical person, such super-tasks are not characteristic; he follows the path of least resistance.

Round extendable table that doubles the table top area if needed and stays round

The path of least resistance, in this case, is the manufacture of a rectangular or oval (in the shape of an irregular circle) sliding table. Round table will take up too much precious space in the room, so most craftsmen prefer a rectangle, and suitable materials easier to find for him.

Rectangular sliding glass table

Next, you need to decide on the material. Due to the high cost and complexity of processing solid wood, you will have to abandon the oak tabletop and legs. The tabletop will be made from laminated chipboard, and metal legs can be purchased at the store. Laminate countertops are perfect because they look stylish and beautiful, and the laminated surface of the table repels moisture.

Waterproof laminate suitable for countertops

Furniture metal legs are ideal for a manufactured table

In addition to pieces of laminate and metal legs, many other parts will be required, among them:

  • four aluminum corners with a length of at least fifty centimeters each;
  • a pair of telescopic guides, coinciding in length with the corners;
  • dowels with a diameter of 8 mm and a length of 40 mm;
  • self-tapping screws with a diameter of 4 mm and a length of 20 mm,
  • bolts, nuts, glue and edge trim.

Additional accessories for table assembly

Self-tapping screws should be significantly shorter than the thickness of the future countertop. The main tools for assembling the table will be a drill and a screwdriver. However, a screwdriver can be replaced with a screwdriver. The process will become more laborious, but there will be no less satisfaction from the work done at the finish line.

Laminated chipboard worktop

  1. The process of assembling a sliding table should begin with measurements. The first thing to measure is the pieces of laminate. There should be three pieces of equal width in total. Two of them should be the same length, the third one should be shorter. They should be split into flat surface so that the short piece is between two identical ones, align and measure the whole place. Their total length will be the length of the extended table, it is important that it fits in the kitchen or in the room.

    We cut out the details of the tabletop of the future according to the drawing

  2. In order for the table structure to be solid, both in the extended and in the shifted state, at the end of each piece of laminate with inside it is necessary to drill at least two holes with a diameter of 8 mm and a depth of 20 mm. The holes on the insert must be drilled on both sides. The holes on one board must exactly match the holes on the other two when they are connected to each other. Then, in the holes of the first board, it is necessary to put forty-millimeter dowels on the glue, so that they sit there tightly. The same should be done with holes on one side of the insert. Now you can connect the pieces of laminate together. Dowels protruding from the end of one board will freely enter the holes of the other
  3. Then you need to measure the length of the corners and mark on one of the sides of each of them the middle and points of future holes that need to be drilled with a drill. At two corners, the holes should be located to the left of the middle, and at the other two to the right.

    Drilling holes in the corners

  4. Telescopic guides consist of two parts, while one of these parts is placed in the other and moves freely inside it. They need to be separated and bolted to aluminum corner so that the wide, fixed part of the rails is attached to the corner with holes on the right, and the narrow part is attached to the corner with holes on the left.

    We attach parts of the guides to the corners, mark the holes and drill

  5. The second telescopic rail must be connected to the second pair of angles in the same way. It remains only to screw the guides to the two main pieces of laminate with self-tapping screws. In this case, the wide parts of the guides should be attached to one part of the countertop, and the narrow parts to the other. Thus, a sliding mechanism is obtained, which allows you to significantly increase the area of \u200b\u200bthe table, when necessary, and return it to its normal state, if necessary. big table dropped.

    We fasten the movable side to the right side, the fixed side to the left side of the tabletop

  6. A freely extendable table is convenient only in those cases when it increases in size at the request of the owners. Spontaneous sliding can be avoided if you install simple locks on all parts of the tabletop that hold the halves of the table together. An additional insert is held between the left and right half of the tabletop not only by four dowels, but also by sliding mechanism(on which it rests) tightly screwed to the countertop.

    On each side of the table we fasten the lock with self-tapping screws.

  7. In order to attach the legs to the table, you first need to fix it on it. inner surface, the so-called heels, to which the legs are then simply screwed. The heels are attached to the table top with 20mm self-tapping screws.

Finishing touches

Simple folding table with chrome legs

A kitchen table of this design can become a gathering place for a large family in the evenings or the center of a festive event (birthday, wedding anniversary, etc.). However, the old laminate itself is unlikely to inspire people to a long feast. Another thing, if it is slightly decorated. It turns out that laminated surfaces after some processing can be painted and even painted on them. Very little is needed to achieve the desired effect. Seal the end of the countertop with edging tape, no matter what color, just to close the ugly end. Sand the surface with sandpaper, treat the dents with putty and cover acrylic paint. Paint can be any color from white to black. An image of flowers in the style of Zhostovo trays is applied to the black background of the table, turning the extendable table, an ordinary utilitarian thing, into a work of art. Handicraft always runs the risk of becoming art, the master who creates it is always the creator.

This kind of useful furniture, such as do-it-yourself wooden table is not only a way to save money or show off your carpentry skills to others. First of all, such a home or is an opportunity to make a thing that is ideal for the tasks assigned to it, both in size and configuration, in material and strength. And, if everything is done according to the instructions and recommendations of the masters, then making a new table will not be much more difficult than assembling the finished one, brought in a box from the store.

How to make a wooden table with your own hands

Before disassembling specific items and recommendations of what how to make a wooden table with your own hands, it is worth deciding whether you need to get a wooden product at the output and what exactly its design will be. Ideally, such a texture is suitable for, because the naturalness and ecological purity of wood is perfectly combined with the country concept.

But even in city apartments, especially in those whose design is decided in Provence, rustic, Scandinavian styles, small wooden tables, as if deliberately aged, fit perfectly. Yes, and a loft or others modern varieties they can’t do without a wooden texture, however, rather, plank pallets can be the main material there. They are more likely to talk about this type of furniture as about, since its assembly resembles the assembly of a designer. If you want just such a coffee table, then keep in mind that the pallets must first be well dried (so that they do not change their shape, they are not “led” after one season of use), bring all the boards to an absolutely even shape with a power tool and then paint. Therefore, think about whether you can spend the same efforts on making even a small do-it-yourself wooden table, video with a master class on which you will find on the net, but it will be durable furniture, which will certainly not go out of fashion for a long time and will serve its owner faithfully.

Do-it-yourself wooden dacha table

In most cases, we need advice on creating exactly do-it-yourself wood tables. There for this piece of furniture there is a huge number of tasks, we can safely say that there are not enough tables in the country. Therefore, a dining table, and a kitchen table, and a picnic table, round, for a gazebo or folding, with which you can sit on the terrace or on the river bank while fishing. And for each option there are individual tips for creating.

However, there is also general recommendations that you can keep in mind when creating do-it-yourself wooden table, photo which you see in our today's article. This applies to the selection of wood, for example. It is believed that the countertop, especially the product that stands on the street, should be hardwood such as oak or walnut, but today with the presence a large number high-quality protective equipment and varnishes, you may well use pine boards, which are much cheaper in price and, with proper processing they will serve you for a very long time. If you want to practice carving complex elements or creating carvings, then choose soft woods such as basswood, but be prepared for scratches or dents with too much use.

The second important common point in creation is the choice of a configuration suitable for it. You can pay attention to finished projects do-it-yourself table made of wood, drawings which are, including, in our article. They already have dimensions, but this should be treated only as a recommendation. After all, what makes independent work good is that you have the right to make your own decision on size and shape. It is for the number of members of your family that you can choose the width and length of the tabletop, and the shape is selected for the height or parameters of the terrace, gazebo, inside which the furniture will stand. The standards are considered to be a height of 75-85 centimeters and a rectangular tabletop 120x70 centimeters.

Based on all of the above, the first step can be called the creation of a drawing, on which you will not only mark all the necessary dimensions, but also make an approximate cutting of the parts that you will need for assembly. You can use illustrations as an example. do-it-yourself table made of wood, drawings, photos which you see above. The diagrams show the sequence of actions that must be followed in order for the product to turn out to be stable. In general, the stability of the legs and the evenness of the surface of the countertop are two prerequisites for such. For evenness, you must observe the exact dimensions of the length of the legs and cut their lower surfaces well. Ready product you can even check with a level whether it will stand in the correct plane. But about sustainability various ways. For some, this is achieved using a different number of legs, that is, not the classic four at all corners of the rectangle, three or even one, strictly in the center. If there are four legs, then they are additionally supplied with stiffeners, supports and jumpers between themselves. By the way, it is very convenient to put your feet on such supports during a feast, this can be called another nice bonus.

DIY wooden tables and chairs

Set wooden tables and chairs, handmade made, will be an excellent option for filling summer terrace where you can have lunch and dinner outdoors. Even if there is a canopy or roof above the headset, anyway, in this case, timely care and wood processing is very important for before starting work. The boards should not have bumps, knots, holes, they should be completely dry so that later you do not get deformation during operation, because there will be plenty of humidity in the surrounding space. Also good decision will make the tabletop and the top of chairs or benches not solid, but with gaps between the boards, which will allow rainwater to drain from the surface without stagnation.

One version of that, you can see in the photo. For this, boards are taken, they should not be too thick, since on such surface deformation can be stronger, but not thin, so that sufficiently heavy pots or other utensils can be placed on the surface. If you cannot afford to make the entire product completely with the help of hard, valuable rocks, then you can combine it by making the countertop itself durable and resistant to damage. The model that we offer you is made on four points of support, so it is perfect for a stationary table that is fixed in one place. Used for fastening metal pipes, which are deepened into the ground and, if necessary, concreted.

At first, the boards are knocked together, while using special self-tapping screws, as ordinary metal nails can damage the material. The assembly takes place on two boards, which are located below, all the rest must be screwed onto them. After that, the surface must be processed using a manual or electric planer, of course, if you use an electric one, it will save you much more time. In the same way, the boards are cleaned, which will create the frame of the tabletop, as well as the beam for the legs. Final sanding with sandpaper carried out after the product has been assembled. You can cut the edge with a router both on a finished, assembled tabletop and on boards, you just need to mark the borders if you want to repeat the rounded shape, as in our example.

In yet another example, step by step manufacturing which you see above, the tabletop is assembled in literally based on scraps of boards that were previously used in repairs or construction. In this case, it is only very important that their thickness is the same, because they will be assembled by the ends. An interesting visual effect is provided by the assembly technology, because the boards are literally strung on metal pins and additionally glued. Then the legs are nailed to the surface, made at an angle of 45 degrees.

Do-it-yourself wooden gazebo table

If we single out the models that are the most complex and require special attention, then among them wooden gazebo table. DIY it is not so difficult to make it, but it is very important to correctly calculate its dimensions and fit it into the existing gazebo space as efficiently as possible. When we, then, nevertheless, we care more about its functionality than about some decorative properties. In the case of a gazebo, a place that attracts increased attention of guests, you need to take care of the visual decoration of the countertop. Here both carving and interesting design with the help of cuts.

As for the form, you need to be guided by the shape of the building itself, inside which the furniture will stand. That is, in a rounded gazebo, a square or round tabletop will not only look ugly, but also the space will be used extremely irrationally. That is, most often they use a simple rule - in a round gazebo they put a round table, in a hexagonal one - a hexagonal one, in a spacious and wide rectangular one - a rectangular one.

Do-it-yourself round table made of wood

Since the round gazebo is the most popular variety, we can say what exactly do-it-yourself round table made of wood and is the #1 model that home craftsmen want to make. The particular difficulty that distinguishes this particular shape is cutting out the shape, you need not to spoil the material and try to make a perfect circle.

For those who doubt their abilities and the evenness of their hands, we can advise a compromise option - buy a round finished tabletop and make furniture based on it. For a round top, it will be relevant to use a tripod system, which is shown in the photo above. First, a base is created, three boards are interconnected, legs are nailed to them. The last step a tabletop is fixed to the screw in the center.

A cozy home is a place where it is good not only for you, but also for the people closest to you. It is great if the whole situation is arranged harmoniously and tastefully, but the household members always get a special pleasure from interior items made by the owner on their own.

For example, a table of your own production can become the center of the room. You should not rack your brains for a long time and figure out how to make a round table with your own hands, just take it and do it! Cover it with a lace tablecloth or napkin for a romantic touch.

Leave the concise wooden table top open, and it will perfectly fit into minimalism and classics.

So, to make a round table, prepare:

  • screwdriver with a chuck of at least 10 mm;
  • electric jigsaw with a set of wood files;
  • screwdriver bits;
  • elongated confirmations (5x80 mm);
  • a set of drills for wood;
  • disk grinder. A disc for a grinder or just an appropriate nozzle installed in a drill is also suitable;
  • timber 3050x120x50 mm;
  • birch plywood disc with a diameter of 1500 and a thickness of 35 mm;
  • a plywood ring with an outer diameter of 1280, an inner diameter of 1040 mm and a thickness of 20 mm;
  • plywood 1060x120x20 mm - 2 pcs.

Preparation and processing of parts

To make a round table, you need to carefully prepare its parts for assembly. It is easy to make a wooden round table, it is even easier to assemble it from birch plywood, especially since it will be very durable. The disk will be the tabletop, and the circle will be the connecting part between the tabletop and the legs, into which the wooden blocks will turn.

First, the plywood must be sanded, and then carefully varnished, preferably in 3 layers. Grinding does not give absolute smoothness, and a loose varnish coating leaves the possibility of splinters on the table. The same should be done with future legs. If you want to tint the details of the table, you need to do this before the final varnishing.

The connecting plywood ring will allow you to attach the legs to the table top so as not to damage its integrity and coating. Planks can be cut out of the same plywood 20 mm thick, which will further provide the table with strength and stability.

Plywood for countertops can be thicker than 35mm. But remember: the thicker the sheet, the more expensive it is. However, it is also stronger and more durable. Modern thick plywood is much better than many solid wood massifs and is able to serve not only you, but also your grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Assembly of the round table

Take a plywood ring and mark holes for attaching 4 legs at an equal distance from each other. It is better to attach each leg to 4 attachment points. Then, drill holes with a diameter of 8 mm in the disk at the marked places.

Now prepare the legs. It will be a beam sawn into 4 parts with a section of 120x50 mm. Each should be 760 mm long. Do not forget to process them before assembly. In the middle of the end section, mark and drill 4 holes with a diameter of 5 mm. They must match those in the link ring. Attach the legs to the ring with a screwdriver and confirmations. Do not twist the confirmations to the end.

Do not think about how to make a round cnjk not only beautiful, but also comfortable and stable. It's very simple. 2 plywood strips measuring 1060x120x20 mm must be installed crosswise under the table top between the table legs. To further simplify the task, you can put them at different levels.

One plank in this case will stand at a distance of 510 mm from the floor, the other - 640 mm. For a strong attachment to the legs, 2 points are enough. Drill holes in the end of the slats and in the corresponding places of the legs and use a screwdriver and confirmations.

All supporting structure now you need to attach to the tabletop. Connect the binding plywood ring to the countertop and screw the confirms to the end. To do this evenly and neatly, have someone help you and support the table top and legs. So they will not move during operation, and your table will turn out better than you could buy in a furniture store.

It remains only to choose a place for the table, at which more than one generation of your family will dine, drink tea and share the happy moments of the day. Warmth and comfort to your home!

It's no secret that a floor made of valuable breeds that has served a century is sometimes used to make musical instruments. Must be removed for reuse upper layer which will give the final product a cleaner look. Products made from such material, without exaggeration, will last forever.

Combination of dissimilar materials

Combinations of wood and metal look original. The massive plane of the table will be decorated with iron, and ideally, cast-iron legs. The combination of oak and cast iron will achieve an excellent result. Heavy cast iron pairs perfectly with oak or ash.

The combination of hard African breeds and metal structures. The result will amaze anyone, even the most demanding connoisseur.

Glass and wood are the perfect match

And chairs and a bench for country house you can also make your own.

You can come up with your own design of home crafts. Folding table will not permanently occupy living space. It can combine several functions. From baby changing station to work surface for home needlework.

A wide field for creativity will give a combination of wood and other materials. Don't be afraid to experiment. Combine dissimilar objects together, and you will achieve amazing results. Even if you decide to combine rarely combined elements, do not be afraid to try. Any ideas can be realized.

How to make a table?

Home design should start with a small coffee table. The design can be quite simple. work surface can be purchased at the grocery store.

Glued pine is best. The glued array is less prone to deformation with changes in humidity and temperature changes. It is most convenient to pick up legs for your crafts in the same place.

Desk

It is better to assemble it from ready-made wooden panels- quite a reasonable start to home needlework. Finished items or whole blocks are easiest to order with delivery on a site that sells components for such work. Here you can find all the necessary accessories. It remains only to spend a little time on the assembly. Additional processing and fitting will not become too complicated, the main thing is that you will get the necessary experience for further creativity.

Table for the kitchen

It's not that hard to make your own kitchen utensils. You can start small kitchen table from pine. Legs are easiest to buy ready-made, pine is the most a budget option. The working surface is easier to choose according to the planned dimensions. It remains only, in the literal sense, to put the table on its feet.

Kitchen set

Assemble the kit kitchen furniture according to their own drawings, the wave is within the power of everyone. You need some skills to install opening doors, but this simple science can be comprehended by watching a few videos on the Internet.

Required Tools

You can start with a small set. A hammer, planer, chisel, wood saw, nails and screws can be found in every home. You will also need a ruler and a pencil. If it is possible to purchase an additional power tool, be sure to do so.

electric planer in the house or a jigsaw will come in handy for the following crafts. Such a tool must be good quality. It will last for many years, even if you do not use it every day.

Special tool

To achieve high quality, it is better to use special equipment with an electric drive. Acquisition costs will not be significant, and you will have the opportunity to move on to more complex projects in the future.

What can be purchased in addition to an existing electric drill:

    electric jigsaw - will allow you to do high-quality cut any materials;

    electric planer - will make the surface of the tree perfectly flat;

    circular saw - will provide a longitudinal or transverse cut of industrial quality;

    a mechanical device for milling work - will process the edges of your craft with an intricate pattern and help you cut out decorative elements on wooden surface;

    sanding machine - makes finishing a wooden surface a simple and pleasant experience that does not require much effort.

It is best to purchase a combined power tool that combines several different functions in one device. This will reduce costs and allow many design ideas to be realized. By the way, home electric drill can be supplemented with various nozzles, which will expand its capabilities.

Accessories

If you decide to make a trip to the needlework store, stock up on everything you need right away. For your craft, you will need additional components to securely fasten the wooden parts. The simplest steel corners will make the design more reliable in operation. Do not skimp on additional decorative elements. They will not be superfluous, but only decorate the appearance.

Greater grace wooden crafts will give ready-made kits that can be purchased at the store. A homemade desk for a child will look very nice if you use metal legs from any ready-made furniture set. It is easy to make a bedside table for him from the same standard kits. Handles and accessories can be picked up in the same store.

Fastening of wooden structures

The ancient technology of wood joining without iron nails and glue is almost lost. But it won't hurt to try. Adjust all wooden joints with minimal gaps, drill holes in the joints with a diameter of six to eight millimeters and hammer a dried wooden spike into it.

If all wooden parts are excessively dried before assembly, then over time they will gain required amount moisture and increase in size. The connection will become strong enough, and the swollen wooden spike will give additional strength.

Traditional mounting options

The easiest and most reliable option is to drive a screw into a tree. Now they make special self-tapping screws for wood joints, which, unlike a conventional screw, do not require an exact hole for screwing in. If the thickness of the connection is not very large, then additional holes can be dispensed with. The wood screw will do everything by itself, especially if you use an electric screwdriver. Such a connection will last a long time without glue.

Why is glue needed?

To give wooden structure additional strength, it is best to glue the articulating surfaces. You need a little glue, but the result will be excellent when combined with self-tapping screws or nails, glued wood connection will remain strong for many years. Glue is best used on water based. There are many varieties of reliable wood glue.

How to make an original home table?

It is not so difficult to create crafts of your own design. The material is found in any forest.

From the array of wood will come out unique craft. But this will take a little effort. The ideal base big tree, whose diameter is more than eighty centimeters in circumference. If you manage to use part of the root system, then a reliable base for the table will come out and additional legs will not be needed.

You need to understand that it will not be easy to deliver such a blank from the forest, but the result will pay off all the work, such a table cannot be compared with anything.

Table for summer cottage

A street table for a suburban area certainly needs to be done by yourself. The ideal material is the same log brought from the forest. The base is conveniently made from birch logs of small diameter. They need to be dug into the ground about fifty centimeters.

Then align their upper parts by sawing off the excess wood. The working surface can be made from a log of large transverse diameter by sawing it longitudinally. The flat part will just be the surface of the street table.

All outdoor additional buildings are best made of wood. This natural natural material perfectly transfers both moisture, and heat, and frosts. Bench for suburban area it is also better to make it yourself from the same wooden components. Homemade bench will organically look near your man-made table.

Why is it better to use an array tree?

The structure of the tree is such that its durability directly depends on how intact its integrity is. Therefore, since ancient times, solid logs have been used to build houses. With minimal processing, when the whole structure is preserved as much as possible, wooden structures can last for hundreds of years without collapsing or changing their shape.

What can be made from solid wood?

For starters, you need to be patient. Cutting down a tree and delivering it to the house is not the most difficult task. It is important to properly prepare the material for subsequent processing.

Preparation of a wooden blank

Be sure to rid the tree of excess moisture. If it is not possible to agree to do this at a woodworking enterprise, where there is a special drying equipment, then it is quite possible to dry at home.

Logging is usually done in the spring, when the trunk has not begun to absorb moisture from the soil, that is, before the thaw. Usually it is March. Drying naturally lasts from several months to a year, depending on the type of wood.

Why is it important to use only dry material?

raw wood will definitely crack as soon as the bark is removed, unless, of course, this is planned by your design idea. Some breeds greatly change shape when dried improperly.

Dry wood should be well cleaned and sanded, a light layer of texture varnish or stain will not interfere to give more texture to the product. If the diameter of the circle is large enough, and part of the root system has become a reliable support, then the table is almost ready. The upper part must be well sanded and varnished. Here is the perfect design for a laptop.

Dimensions

If you want to make a large dining table from a solid log, you will have to work a little and make a longitudinal cut in the middle of the trunk with a chainsaw. You will get two almost identical halves. If the width of one part is a meter or more, and the length is not less than one and a half meters, then the basis for dining table has already. You can leave the bottom semi-circular or even out by cutting off the semi-circular bottom.

It remains to build reliable legs and process the surface of the table in any convenient way. It is not necessary to make the table absolutely even, especially if precious woods were used. Moderate irregularities will give the craft an additional charm.

How to use the second half of the log?

A little extra effort, and - a strong bench for the table is ready. If the width of the log is of sufficient size, then two strong benches can be obtained on both sides of the table. They are best hardwired into general design, or make two separate strong seats for several people. The bench, of course, will have to be leveled and all irregularities removed. Ideally, sand well and varnish or stain.

Colors

Do not be too zealous in painting wooden products. If you decide to enhance the natural color, then coffee tones are best suited for any breed. It is best to use water-based varnishes and paints. They are less toxic and interact well with wood.

It is perfectly acceptable to use undyed materials with natural colors. Cast iron without additional coating and wood in natural color will become original decorative solution that does not require additional color shades.

Very well combined raw aluminum and dark rocks tree. Natural silver color and dark oak texture look very original. Elements with natural flowers good for additional decoration.

But iron components, unless, of course, it is stainless steel, in any case, you need to paint. Even if your table with iron legs will always be indoors, the metal must be coated with any coloring composition. Iron corrodes even in dry and warm rooms and needs painting.

Wood coloring

When using wooden planed products on outdoors coloring is required not only in decorative purposes. A good coating will protect the wood and prolong its life. In this case, special compositions for outdoor work are used. The color scheme can be any. The most acceptable are all the same dark coffee shades.

Useful little things

  • The wisest thing is not to rush. Any work requires thoughtfulness and accuracy of execution. Don't set any deadlines for yourself. Do work when you feel like it.
  • If something does not work out, put the craft aside and return to it after a while. Such work will only be a joy, and you will achieve a good result.
  • Do not take on a complex project right away, start with simple work. You need to gain some experience for subsequent more complex crafts. Using power tools will make your job easier. Be sure to follow all safety precautions when working with any tool used for woodworking.

  • Even a small splinter can become a problem if you do not pay attention to it at the time. Follow the safety regulations. Always wear goggles when working with wooden products especially if machining is used.
  • If you have little experience, but there is a desire to do it yourself at least wooden table V own house, start by going to the building materials supermarket. There you will find everything you need for individual creativity. Design solutions materials suggest.
  • To begin with, use wooden blanks that require minimal post-processing.
  • Carry out all work in a spacious room. A small workshop in the country - perfect option. Painting should be carried out in a well ventilated area, even if low toxicity products are used. Observe all necessary drying times for glued and painted parts.

Advantages and disadvantages

Handmade crafts do not always look perfect. But don't get upset about it. Minor flaws will be compensated by absolute satisfaction from the work done by oneself. Such disadvantages can be attributed rather to advantages. Product industrial production will not keep your hands warm.

Various rectangular tables identified shortcomings:

  • the presence of four legs and corners of the tabletop makes it difficult to move around the table;
  • the table is far from the person sitting at the middle of the table;
  • the first table made of ennobled fiberboard could not stand the winter and stratified;
  • second table with reliable worktop it was just stolen.

The experience of holidays and gatherings required the installation of a round table on one leg. The study of the designs of such tables showed that the table leg assembly is the most responsible and complex. Various trial designs did not satisfy the ease of use in terms of stability and reliability of the structure. It was from the conditions of ensuring sustainability that the following homemade table. A deck was taken as a basis - a piece of log 70 cm long and ~ 36 cm in diameter. The log was cut with a chainsaw from an aspen tree that had fallen from old age. If possible, I recommend choosing a log made of light wood. With a log from a birch - I could not handle it. The use of a log of this size, in addition to the task of stability, also ensured the complete rigidity of the table structure. During the construction process, photographing of the process was not carried out, so there will be photos of the already assembled table below. As you know, the issue of theft was automatically resolved.

How to make a round table with your own hands

Step by step instructions for making a round table.

Step 1. I sawed the log out of the fallen trunk with a chainsaw - it is desirable to form a cylindrical log. I did not remove the bark from the log, for an aspen log this is probably the best way out.

Step 2. I made the legs from two boards 85 cm long and 10x4 cm in section, cut the outer edges at an angle. To ensure the stability of the future structure, I formed support platforms by cutting a groove in the middle of each board with a depth of 1 cm. I connected the boards to each other in the form of a cross, having previously selected grooves in opposite sides of the boards 4.5x4 cm each. Since the table was supposed to be outdoors all year round in order to prolong the life of a wooden structure with periodic soaking, he covered it with an antiseptic. A good imported composition with tinting was used, which created a dense layer of antiseptic impregnation on the surface of the legs.

Step 3. After the antiseptic has dried. I marked the center of the bottom of the deck and attached the legs connected by a cross. I marked on the bottom of the deck the places of future grooves for the legs (it should be noted so that the legs are installed tightly and with effort in the deck, that is, the width of the groove is ~ 3.8-3.9 cm. The grooves were made using manual circular saw sawing many times the place of sampling of wood to a depth of 7 cm. I finally cleaned the groove with a chisel and treated it with an antiseptic. If you do not have a circular saw, then the groove is selected with a chisel and a hammer. It will take much more time, but do not despair - imagine how our ancestors made dugout boats, there the amount of work was much greater. Without changing the position of the deck (it stands with a cross-shaped groove up), I installed the legs, checked the parallelism.
Step 4. Carefully turned the deck over, checked the stability of the structure (on a flat surface, all four supports should touch the floor). I secured the legs with long screws. Be careful with this operation. Everything must be done well so that the table structure is stable.
Step 5. For the tabletop frame, I also used two boards with a section of 10 x 4 cm, but 93 cm long. On the top of the deck, I marked two parallel grooves (3.8-3.9 cm wide) in the center of the deck at a distance of 17 cm from each other. I chose the wood from the groove as described above. I installed boards in the selected grooves. Using a level, I checked the parallelism of the boards and attached the boards with self-tapping screws to the deck.

Step 6. I picked up 8 boards 13 cm wide and ~ 105 cm long. I attached the boards to the frame with the help of self-tapping screws, observing symmetry. He strengthened the future tabletop by connecting the boards to each other with additional crossbars. For the countertop, in my version, I used unplaned boards left over from the construction of the gazebo. To give greater solidity to the table, I recommend using planed dry boards.
Step 7. I installed a nail in the center of the deck-table, tied a string to the nail and tied a simple pencil at a distance of 52 cm. The resulting compass carefully drew a circle. On the marked line with a finishing saw, an electric jigsaw sawed out a round table. I sawed the frame boards and the tabletop reinforcement boards at the corner. Sanded the edges of the countertop and the surface of the countertop from burrs.
