Thermal film on windows insulation of windows with a film. Ceramic energy-saving film. The cost of insulation with a film of one window

The thermal insulation of plastic windows with thermal protection of the "third glass" film itself helps to reduce heat losses with this structure in extreme cold. In this article, we will consider the characteristics of a thermal film, consider the strengths and weak sides this material.

At the end of the article, we will present video instructions on how to independently use energy-saving foil for additional thermal insulation of plastic windows in an apartment and in a private house.

Thermal film is the latest multi-layer material, each layer of material does not exceed more than microns and is plated with silver or chromium alloy. The metallized layer does not disturb the capacity of the window, since its thickness does not exceed a molecule.

In this case, a layer of ultra-thin metal prevents heat loss from the living room through the double-glazed window in winter.

Due to the thickness of the layer, only a few molecules have a thermal foil with refractive properties and allow the material to become effective thermal insulation for the glass block.

Its unique structure reduces heat loss in winter and prevents heat flow through the window in summer, making it easier for air conditioners to operate. In the future, we will consider the advantages and disadvantages of the thermal film.

Benefits of Using Thermal Film

Comments on thermal film defects:

  • The disadvantage is the inefficiency of the material in spring period when the heating is already off, but there is not enough heat in the room;
  • After installation, all the inner containers on the window shelf will not receive enough UV material, which will adversely affect plant growth;
  • Thermal insulation of plastic windows with a heat-shielding film is effective only if the manufacturer's recommendations are followed and they must be carefully studied.

Feedback about the benefits of thermal film:

  • The material prevents infrared radiation from escaping the space, while the light transmittance is unchanged, which maintains visibility through a double-glazed window;
  • Thermal window film prevents heat loss from the living room, which saves you from home heating and air conditioning in the summer;
  • The advantage of film for plastic windows is the absence of a reflective effect, and the one-sided visibility of the glass will save you from the looks of passers-by.

Thermal insulation of windows with thermophiles

Before installing the "third glass" film on the plastic window, it is necessary to prepare tools such as a typewriter, scissors and a household hair dryer.

These simple tools available in almost every home. It's easier to install together, but you can get the job done as it is.

Do-it-yourself thermal insulation of plastic windows

Instructions for Thermal Film "Third Glass"

  1. Start heating attic windows from a small window.

    The surface of the frame must be treated with a degreasing compound and dried. In addition, double-sided adhesive tape is included on the double glazing rim;

  2. The film in the package is folded in half, it must be divided and cut. Cutting is performed according to the size of the window, taking into account the fixation of the thermal film on the tape.

    Check the dimensions of the film by attaching it to the opening of the windows you wish to process;

  3. Remove the backing tape from the tape and carefully stick the foil onto the double-sided tape. Ignore possible wrinkles, the main thing is that the film is securely attached around the edge of the frame to the double-sided tape;
  4. Hot air filter using domestic or household dryer, the material will be destroyed by temperature.

    Thus, the thermal film will increase and become completely smooth over the entire area.

Thermal insulation of plastic windows with shrink film

An important advantage of this material is the increase in the strength of the double-glazed window - the glass is not divided into small pieces, which will reduce injuries.

The film can be insulated wooden and plastic frames The performance of the material can be compared to the installation of a double glazed unit. The film reduces the heat transfer of energy from a warm space to a cold space near the double glazing unit.

When the windows are insulated for the winter, it is best to install thermal film in October and November. It is advisable to remove it in May by increasing the daily hours.

If the film is broken after an accident, do not disturb it - you can quickly repair the gap with ordinary tape.

When looking for energy savings, consumers are looking for new Construction Materials, which will help save heat in a house or apartment.

A special place in this line is occupied by a fire-resistant film for windows, which can reduce energy consumption by 30 percent.

How useful is the use of this material, and what functions, besides saving heat, does the film have?

What is film and how does it work?

The basis for the production of heat-saving film for windows is polymeric polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

Its thickness, which affects the effectiveness of the product, can be 80-200 microns. The film has high elasticity and can therefore increase the strength of the window pane. This means that glass windows do not break apart when accidentally hit, they remain "attached" to the film.

But this is not the main thing in using thermal film.

He acts on it with a thin layer of plasma evaporation from gold, silver or chromium and nickel and subsequent vapor deposition in an argon environment. The basis for the manufacture of the film are physical properties these metals, which allows filtering solar radiation. The film does not emit infrared and ultraviolet waves, but transmits visible light perfectly.

That's why the room stays bright. The fact is that infrared rays are responsible for heat transfer. The film refines them and brings them back to the room, they store the heat accumulated in the room. At the same time, the UV elements of the solar spectrum do not penetrate into space.

For reference.

The UV rays of the sun are ionizing properties and are essential for the human body to promote the development of vitamin D. UV room air from harmful microbes involved in the process of photosynthesis in plants.

The price of an energy-saving film directly depends on the degree of thermal conductivity and installation method. In fact, the film is made in rolls and can have different sizes. For standard window apartments it is appropriate to have a three-month window, so as not to be confused.

The excess can be turned off.

When was the film founded?

Manufacturers of thermal insulation films for windows are advised to use them for bonding on windows, houses, houses in autumn and winter, from October to March. During this period, protection of windows against heat leakage is justified. The sun's rays typically enter a room with little or no heat, so reflection of the UV portion of the solar spectrum is not required. The film is completely transparent and not stained on the windows.

Infrared (warm) rays coming from heating devices are reflected from windows to the room, they store heat.

The effectiveness of the film depends on the way the glass is bonded.

Films are available in the following forms:

  1. Thermal shrinkage. You have the ability to stretch when heated with warm airflow. Since the film is attached to a double-sided adhesive tape, it acts as an additional glass that enhances the insulating properties of the double-glazed window.
  2. A film pasted on glass using a soap mixture.
  3. Self-adhesive film.

For reference.

Removable film is available in a variety of colors: bronze, gold, blue, silver. Therefore, it is easy to choose the interior of the room.

Negative Aspects of the Movie You Should Know

Since the film almost completely reflects UV rays, houseplants, whose growth is directly dependent on the Sun, begin to suffer because of this.

In addition, plants are not lost, it is also necessary to light them with photo lamps. This means that this issue has been resolved. Where is the energy saving? The camera must be turned on for at least 12 hours a day to ensure normal plant growth and to replace less sunlight. They do not save even the most economical lamps.

What happens to thermal energy if the film is used in spring and autumn, when the heating is already turned off? Since the film does not allow natural solar heat to penetrate from the street, the humidity in the apartment stabilizes and it will be cold.

Few people know about one film - it reflects radio waves. This means that radio signals entering the internal antenna or mobile phone are reflected by the film coating. And vice versa: a signal from mobile phone will be reflected back into the room.

Conclusion: Cellular coverage in buildings where the film is attached will be very poor.

Do not use film for greenhouses and greenhouses because the plants need the full spectrum of sunlight.

It makes no sense to attract cinema if the apartment has modern windows, with high quality thick double glazed glass.

However, when replacing old windows, this, on the contrary, will serve as a good help. You must also consider the fact that the film needs to be changed every year.

Thermal film on windows

Advice. When buying a film, it is desirable to inquire about the quality certificate, because it cannot be visually recognized.

Installation rules

Procedure of normal film bonding method:

  • windows must be thoroughly rinsed, if necessary, degreased and wait until they dry;
  • dilute the soap solution (you can use colorless shampoo or dishwashing liquid);
  • Cut the film to fit the window;
  • Apply the soap solution to the entire surface of the glass with household spray;
  • carefully apply the film to the glass;
  • spread the foil with a rubber roller, gradually remove excess soap solutions and large air bubbles.

Small bubbles and wrinkles are dried out when the soap is dried.

Shrink film glued:

  • Prepare glass (wash, dry);
  • Cut off the size of the film, 2 cm more than the glass surface;
  • On the periphery of the window glass, we attach a double-sided adhesive tape;
  • start gluing from above, peeling wrinkles and wrinkles;
  • then blow the surface of the coated film with hot air with a hair dryer.

Often shrink films are used on balconies or loggias as they act as a second or third glass.

The main thing is to slowly hold the sticky film. The protective layer is gradually removed and smoothes the soft tissue from top to bottom. Here you also need an assistant to help tighten the protective layer.

Advice. Preferably, the window is glass at room temperature.

This will greatly facilitate and improve the installation process.

Conclusions and questions that ultimately arise

If we are aware of the shortcomings of the film, we can say that its use is justified in cases where it is necessary to save heat, but it is impossible to do the job in case of capital heating of a building or building.

Many consumers appreciate the quality of the film, such as protecting the space from prying eyes. At the same time, from room to street, visibility remains at 100%.

Windows do not always have heavy curtains or curtains. The film is ideal for every interior without disturbing it.

However, the film does not affect energy saving in a drastic way. So before sticking it, you have to decide what is more important: the effect it gives, reflecting the heat back into the room, or the life-saving UV rays that the film doesn't leave in the apartment?

It may be worth considering other methods of heating, for example, to install thermal windows or reinforcing walls thermal insulation materials? And if it is used in the summer to protect from sunlight?

For objectivity, it must be said that the properties of the thermal film are improving every year. Manufacturers try to take into account all the nuances of their use, thereby increasing the performance of the product.

detailed information

Thermal window film is the fastest, most efficient and affordable way increase the temperature in the room by 3 ... 8C!
WHERE DOES THE HEAT GO?
It is a well-known fact that any residential building gradually loses the accumulated heat.

In particular, it is through the glass that a quarter of all the heat that is produced by your batteries and heaters goes.
The reason for this is the laws of physics! Have you ever noticed that a tightly closed and airtight window “pulls” coolness?

This may seem strange if you do not know the principles of thermal conductivity and convection, namely, heat transfer in air, which occurs due to the movement of gas flows of different temperatures.
This is exactly what happens when you supposedly feel a draft - cold air from the street cools the glass, which in turn cools the air inside the room.
What happens - the window, as if it does not form drafts, since it is airtight, but still lets the cold into the room?

Not the most pleasant fact, agree.
HOW TO SAVE HEAT?
We offer you the best solution to your problem. Namely - a heat-saving film!
Everything is very simple! If the glass is cold, cut it off with a layer of transparent film!
The film is glued along the perimeter of the window frame using double-sided adhesive tape, thereby creating an additional air chamber.

Films for window insulation: application and instructions for use

Due to the transparency of the film at a damage of 97%, it is absolutely not visible on the window.
The principle of operation of the film is akin to the effect of a thermos - due to the high coefficient of resistance to thermal conductivity, the film, firstly, prevents the penetration of cold from the street into the room, and secondly, it does not generated by batteries and heaters heat to volatilize into the street.
As a result, already 3 hours after applying the film, a significant result is felt in the room - an increase in temperature by 3 ... 8C without additional heating, which significantly reduces energy consumption!

In houses with a large window area, savings on heating can reach over 30% in winter, and in summer - on air conditioning.

This improves sound insulation.
The film is absolutely harmless to the human body, since it does not contain harmful compounds and does not emit any dangerous fumes during operation.

Moreover, a film similar in composition (but not in density and thermal conductivity!) Is used in Food Industry for packaging dairy products and baby food, which indicates the highest level environmental friendliness of products.
In addition, the thermal film prevents the formation of condensation and frost on the inner glass, which in turn prevents the formation of mold and fungi.
GLUING PROCESS.
The entire application process takes a minimum of time and consists of the following steps:
1.

degrease window frame and, if necessary, wash the glass itself;
2. apply double-sided adhesive tape around the perimeter of the frame;
3. measure and cut necessary element films;
4. evenly stick the film on the double-sided tape;
5. warm up with an ordinary household hair dryer until completely straightened.
Everything is very simple and cheap!

It's hard to work with film wooden windows and I decided to conquer the thermal film. It's hard to stick to one. It diverges along the seam when heated with a hairdryer, and after gluing it reacts to temperature changes - it contracts when heated and comes off. However, the effect is present: after gluing, the temperature rose by 3 degrees, the glass stopped flowing.

Budget fastening of the apartment At 8 degrees, the temperature in the room, according to the manufacturer, does not rise. Hello to all readers of the site. Today I want to tell about the purchase of last year. Namely, the “third glass” thermal films, I bought it last fall in order to insulate my apartment. Before buying I read a lot of good and bad reviews on the Internet.

But still decided to buy. Bought over the internet. I found the site, placed an order, it came in a few days. It cost me 200 UAH, together ...

Surely many people know about the ways in which heat can leave our homes. The main sources of heat loss in apartment buildings windows count. This is not about metal-plastic double-glazed windows with triple glass, but about more. Unfortunately, they have gaps that are invisible to the eye, through which warm air currents so easily seep in and leave the home or office. What to do in such a situation? Does it need to be replaced natural material on the plastic to seal any heat outlets as much as possible? Many people know that thanks to wooden frames the interior maintains a favorable atmosphere. The room seems to “breathe”, fresh air constantly circulates in it. And even when the windows are tightly closed, air is exchanged between the room and the outside. If left tightly closed plastic windows, stale air soon appears in the room, and in some cases the humidity level may even increase and condensation may appear. But do not rush to get upset, because energy-saving film on the windows will help solve the current problem!

Energy-saving film is becoming increasingly popular among consumers

What is thermal window film?

The last few years this material is gaining more and more popularity. After all, almost all consumers are trying to save on public services and at the same time provide your home with the necessary heat as much as possible. And the most different methods. One of the most affordable and popular is window insulation. Heat-saving film allows you to very effectively retain heat in any room where it is used.

The film consists of very thin layers, each of which covers the thinnest metal alloy. Its thickness is literally a few micrometers, due to which it is visually very difficult to distinguish. This means that after pasting your window with such material, visibility will in no case be hindered. Nickel, gold or silver can be used as the metal alloy.

Heat saving window film produced under the strictest control in compliance with all norms and requirements. During the manufacturing process, it is affected high temperatures and certain pressure. Only under such conditions will it have thermal insulation properties. It is also important that such a film is able not only to keep the heat in the room, but also to maintain the optimum temperature in it at any time of the year. Even in extreme heat, it will not allow excessive heat to accumulate inside the room, but it will.

Heat-saving film "third glass": properties

As we already wrote, this material consists of several layers, although this is not visually visible at all. The film remains quite transparent and will not cause you any discomfort after its installation on the windows. Each of these layers is designed to save heat or, conversely, coolness in the room. all year round. It is very important to note such property of the film as versatility. Indeed, she is, in fact, universal remedy that maintains the optimal temperature in the room at any time of the year. Helps in winter warm air accumulate indoors, while in summer it acts as a reflector.

Speaking about the benefits of the “third window”, the following should be mentioned:

However, with all the pluses, there are a few minuses that you should be aware of in advance before installing the film on the windows:

  • Since it does not transmit ultraviolet rays, then houseplants will not receive required amount light and heat. Therefore, in the room where the film will be pasted on the windows, you will not be able to grow them.
  • The film also does not contribute to the accumulation of heat from nowhere, it only retains it in the room. As a rule, during the off-season, when it is cool enough outside, but not critical, central heating turns off in apartments. The required amount of heat will not pass through the film, so the room can be quite cool.
  • "The Third Window" is produced according to the most modern technologies, which is why the cost of such products is still quite high. But compared to others effective means for warming the room, it is absolutely inexpensive.

Installation

Of course, the manufacturers of such a film will argue that its installation requires almost the most skilled craftsmen and the possession of outstanding skills and abilities. But this is absolutely not true. You just need to follow the instructions exactly and you will definitely succeed!

There are different types of film - and one that is held by tension. In this article, we will cover the installation of the first option. First you need to wash the glass well and degrease it with any alcohol-containing agent. It can even be medical alcohol. The main thing is not to touch the surface with bare hands after this procedure. If this happens, do not forget to repeat the degreasing procedure. After that, you need to carefully roll out the film, lift the protective layer and attach it to the very top of the glass. Gradually remove the "protection", while leveling the already glued film soft cloth or a rubberized scraper to extract air bubbles. Thus, you need to stick the entire film.

Advice: try to glue the film, which has room temperature. If you do this operation on a cold surface, the film may be unevenly distributed and peel off soon.

Where can I buy thermal film for windows?

Since such material is not cheap, it will be very disappointing to run into a fake. In addition, the film must be stored in right conditions not to lose your operational properties. It is unlikely that underground shops or hand traders will adhere to such recommendations. Yes, and the risk of running into a fake is quite large. We recommend that you purchase such a film only in specialized large construction stores or hypermarkets where you can ask for all relevant documentation and certificates. Only in this case you are guaranteed to get a real film designed to keep warm in your home or office!

Have you had any experience with this film? Is it really effective in different time of the year? Share your experience with us and our readers!

In search of energy savings, consumers are looking for new building materials that will help save heat in a house or apartment. A special place in this range is occupied by a heat-reflecting film for windows, which can reduce energy consumption by up to 30 percent.

How expedient is the use of this material and what properties, besides heat saving, does the film have?

What is film made of and how does it work?

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) polymer is the basis for the production of heat-saving film for windows. Its thickness, which affects the performance of the product, can be 80-200 microns. The film has high elasticity, therefore it is able to increase the strength of window glass. That is, in case of accidental impacts, the window glass will not scatter in different directions with fragments, they will remain firmly "stuck" to the film. But this property is not the main thing when using a heat-saving film.

The thinnest layer of gold, silver or chromium-nickel alloy is deposited on it by the method of plasma evaporation and subsequent deposition of metal vapors in an argon environment. The production of the film is based on the physical properties of these metals, which make it possible to filter solar radiation. The film does not transmit infrared and ultraviolet waves, but perfectly conducts visible light. Therefore, the room remains light. The fact is that infrared rays are responsible for the transfer of heat. The film refracts them and returns them back to the room, keeping the heat accumulated in the room. At the same time, the UV parts of the solar spectrum do not penetrate into the room.

For reference. The UV rays of the Sun have ionizing properties and are vital for humans, contributing to the production of vitamins of group D in the body. UV rays purify the air in the room from harmful microbes, participate in the process of plant photosynthesis.

The price of an energy-saving film directly depends on the level of its thermal conductivity and the method of installation. Basically, the film is produced in rolls and is different sizes. For a standard apartment window, it is convenient to take a three-meter one so as not to be mistaken. The excess can be cut off.

When is the use of film justified?

Manufacturers of heat-insulating films for windows recommend using them for gluing windows, houses, apartments on glass in autumn and winter, that is, from October to March. During this period, the protection of windows from heat leakage is justified. The sun's rays that tend to enter the room have almost no heat, so the reflection of the UV part of the solar spectrum is not significant. The film is completely transparent and does not tint windows. The infrared (warm) rays that come from the heaters are reflected from the windows back into the room, keeping the heat in.

The effectiveness of the film application depends on the method of its gluing to the glass.

Films are of the following types:

  1. Shrink. They have the ability to stretch when they are heated with a warm air jet. Since the film is pasted on double-sided tape, it plays the role of additional glass, reinforcing thermal insulation properties double-glazed window.
  2. A film that is glued to glass using a soap mixture.
  3. Self-adhesive film.

For reference. Energy-saving film is available in various colors: bronze, gold, blue, silver. Therefore, it is easy to choose it for the interior of the room.

Negative aspects of the use of the film, which you need to know about

Since the film almost completely reflects UV rays, indoor plants begin to suffer because of this, whose growth directly depends on the Sun. In order for the plants not to die, it is necessary to additionally install illumination for them with photo lamps. So this problem is solvable. However, where is the energy saving? The photo lamp must be turned on for at least 12 hours a day to ensure normal plant growth and compensate for the lost sunlight. Even the most economical lamps will not save.

What happens to the heat energy if the film is used in spring and autumn, when the heating is already turned off? Since the film does not allow the natural solar heat from the street, dampness will settle in the apartment and it will be cold.

Few people know about another property of the film - they reflect radio waves. That is, radio signals that go to an indoor antenna or mobile phone will be reflected by the film coating. And vice versa: the signal from the mobile phone will be reflected back into the room. Conclusion: cellular in buildings where the film is pasted, it will be very bad.

You should not use the film for greenhouses and greenhouses, because plants need the whole spectrum of sunlight.

It makes no sense to stick the film if the apartment has modern windows with high-quality thick double-glazed windows. But when restoring old windows, it, on the contrary, will serve as a good help. You also need to take into account the fact that the film needs to be changed annually.

Tip: When buying a film, it is advisable to ask for a quality certificate, since it is impossible to visually determine it.

Installation rules

In order for the film to stick well on the windows, it must be properly glued. You can do this without any special skills.

The procedure for the usual method of gluing the film:

  • windows should be thoroughly washed, degreased if necessary and wait until they dry;
  • dilute the soap solution (you can use colorless shampoo or dishwashing liquid);
  • cut the film to fit the window;
  • using a household spray bottle, apply a soap solution to the entire surface of the glass;
  • carefully place the film on the glass;
  • straighten the film with a rubber roller, gradually removing excess soap solution and large air bubbles.

Small bubbles and wrinkles will disappear when the soap solution dries.

The shrink film is glued together:

  • prepare glass (wash, dry);
  • cut the film to size, 2 cm larger than the glass area;
  • double-sided adhesive tape is glued around the perimeter of the window glass;
  • begin gluing from above, smoothing folds and wrinkles;
  • then blow the surface of the glued film with hot air using a hair dryer.

Often shrink film is used on a balcony or loggia, as it acts as a second or third glass.

To stick a self-adhesive film, the main thing is to do it slowly. The protective layer is removed gradually, smoothing the film from top to bottom with a soft cloth. Here you also need an assistant who will help tighten the protective layer.

Advice. It is desirable that the window glass be room temperature. This will greatly facilitate and improve the quality of the installation process.

Conclusions and questions that eventually arise

Knowing about the shortcomings of the film, we can say that its use is justified in cases where it is necessary to save heat, but it is not possible to perform work on the capital insulation of a building or structure.

Many consumers appreciate such quality of the film as protection of the premises from prying eyes. At the same time, visibility from the room to the street remains one hundred percent. Not always heavy curtains or blinds are appropriate on the windows. The film fits well into any interior without disturbing it.

However, all the same, the film does not radically affect energy saving. Therefore, before gluing it, you need to decide what is more important: the effect that it gives by reflecting heat back into the room, or the vital UV rays that the film does not let the apartment in? Maybe it is worth considering other ways of warming, for example, to install heat-saving windows, or to strengthen the walls with heat-insulating materials? And if you use it, in the summer months, to protect yourself from the hot rays of the sun?

For objectivity, it must be said that the properties of the heat-saving film are improving every year. Manufacturers are trying to take into account all the nuances of its application, increasing the energy-saving performance of the product at times.

Thermal reflective films have been around since the evolution of solar films. There was a demand for a more transparent and more effective coating than the classic mirror film. Thanks to the development of new technologies and experiments with new materials, this long-awaited product has been created that protects against solar energy and does not darken the room. And in the cold season, this heat-saving film prevents the heat from escaping through the glass.

IR or TSER?

Usually, consumers equate the thermal radiation of the Sun with the heat coming from heaters, lamps, etc., but the composition of the energy of the sun's rays is somewhat different. Infrared rays make up about 53% of solar energy. The rest of the solar energy comes from visible light - 44% and a small part from ultraviolet light - 3%. All three of these regions make up the solar spectrum and their combined energy is what we call "total solar energy".

These parts of the solar spectrum also make up half of what is converted into heat indoors. Therefore, when making claims about heat rejection, we should look at Total Solar Energy (UV+VISIBLE+IR) Rejected. Total Solar Reflection TSER is a parameter that describes the total amount of solar energy (UV+VISIBLE+IR) blocked or deflected from passing through the glass. The IR reflectance values only help people understand that the film rejects the vast majority of heat from infrared radiation.

But this does not mean that if most of IR is blocked, then almost no heat will pass through the film. It is also important to understand that without passing it further, therefore, it and the glass heat up. In order to avoid the appearance of cracks on the glass, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the problem "".

Our film Winter-Summer.

The principle of interaction with thermal radiation in energy-saving films " Winter summer"is different from ordinary solar reflective films - this is a different mechanism of action. This is not heat absorption, but reflection, which you agree is not the same thing. Energy-saving films for windows reflect heat. And this is more useful and necessary for a living space than absorption. Absorb room heat in winter it is not very advisable, on the contrary, it must be stored.In winter, the heat is reflected inward - you save energy for heating, and in the summer it is reflected outward - you save on cooling.The scale of savings from the use of thermal insulation film for windows reaches impressive numbers in case of contrasting weather and a large glass area And this is the Russian realities - the temperature difference during the year and modern buildings made of "glass and concrete".

We have tested the popular IR-cut 7080 ceramic film in medium heat waves from domestic heating appliances.

Measuring equipment (equipment):
- GN004 FT-UV-VIS-IR Spectroscopic Imaging Microscope
- Vertex 80

Spectral range (spectrum range):
- from 2,500nm to 10,000nm

Experiment conditions (conditions):
- DLATGS DETECTOR, 128scan, Resolution 4cm-1

Here is an example of a ceramic infrared emitter-heater ECZ 250w in the form of an E27 bulb, which we use for demonstration. Wavelength depending on power consumption 3.5 - 5 µm (3500 - 5000 nm).

Athermal glass and athermal films.

Glass.
Glass of this type is produced only for the automotive industry, as a component for premium and business class cars, the marking must contain the TINTED or OVERTINTED mark. Athermal glass is made using certain additives in molten glass, which give it the property of absorbing infrared rays. For domestic needs of the population, it is not mass-produced. Such glass is not used in the manufacture of double-glazed windows and is not yet planned. Athermal glazing is not done because to absorb the heat of a living space in winter or summer is contrary to the purpose of housing, a warm and cozy shelter from the outside world. On the contrary, it should be kept.

The winter season for residents of central and northern Russia is a rather uncomfortable season. From a cold street, people tend to get to a warm place as soon as possible. But often, once in a heated room, a person notices that it is not so warm there as one would like. It is especially uncomfortable to live in a cool apartment for a long time or work in a cold office. In summer, on the contrary, it is stuffy and hot.

How to save heat in the room or prevent it from overheating?

To make the temperature of an apartment or office comfortable for a person, the following measures are usually used:

  • install modern double-glazed windows on the windows;
  • equip the premises with adjustable radiators;
  • connect additional electric heaters;
  • seal window slots with polyurethane foam;
  • insulate external and internal walls;
  • in hot weather put air conditioners.

These measures are expensive and require a lot of energy. Is there an alternative? You can go by increasing the amount of heat, or you can take measures to keep it inside. Research shows that indoors is the most a large number of heat is lost through the glass windows, and the larger the area of the window openings, the greater the loss. In winter, these losses are up to 70%. In order to avoid heat loss through glass windows and doors, it is necessary to take measures to increase the thermal insulation of glass sheets. Heat-saving film for windows will help us with this.

What is a thermal film?

Heat-saving (or energy-saving) film is a thin transparent material, which consists of several layers. The basis of the film is a polymer polyethylene terephthalate with a thickness of 80 to 200 microns. Integral part film is the thinnest metal layer. It is made by spraying particles of gold, silver, chromium or nickel. Transparency different types film varies from 47% to 70%. The price, depending on the constituent materials, starts at 144 rubles and can reach up to 3,000 rubles.

What types of heat-saving films do manufacturers offer?

Manufacturers offer two types of heat-insulating films:

  • films that are glued to the surface of the glass;
  • films attached to window opening using double sided tape.

The first type is the most aesthetic and invisible. In this case, the film creates a "third glass", that is, between window glass and the film creates a thin air layer that protects the room from heat loss. The second type of film is effective in the absence of modern double-glazed windows, as it allows you to close the gaps between the glass and the frame.

How does the thermal film work?

The metal layer of the film reflects the infrared rays coming from the heating devices, and the heat remains in the room. This layer is practically invisible to the naked eye, so that the lighting of the room does not suffer, especially since additional light sources cannot be dispensed with in winter. In extreme heat, the film has the opposite effect: it acts as an air conditioner, leaving the room cooler than the air outside. An additional advantage of thermal insulation film is that it strengthens the glass body, making it more durable and does not allow the glass to shatter into pieces when strong blow: the glass, even when broken, remains attached to the film.

In what cases is it advisable to use heat-saving film?

  1. if it is necessary to significantly increase the level of heat without the use of energy-consuming and air-drying heaters;
  2. if it is necessary to significantly reduce the level of heat without the use of air conditioners that tend to accumulate pathogenic bacteria in their filters;
  3. if an old double-glazed window is installed in the room, which has significant thermal insulation flaws: gaps between the frame and the wall, between the frame and glass;
  4. if the room has large window openings that occupy almost the entire space of the wall;
  5. if you need to protect the room from sudden changes in temperature, which are typical for most of the territory of our country;
  6. if you need to protect the decoration of the room from exposure to ultraviolet sunlight, that is, from fading, which is especially needed by walls, furniture, antiques.

Thus, the scope of use of heat-saving film is quite wide, and this type of product is gaining popularity due to its availability and relative ease of installation.

Which manufacturers offer heat-saving film and what are their prices?

When choosing heat-saving films, it must be taken into account that not expensive views this product creates only an air gap (the effect of the third glass), and expensive types, such as South Korean Ultra Solar Block, - in addition to thermal insulation, they prevent the penetration of infrared rays into the room, which reduces the cold in winter and the heat in summer. Different kinds heat-saving films are produced in Germany, Poland, South Korea, China, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine. Online stores offer the following brands: "Thermo Tap", "NANOFILM", "Ultra Solar Block", "Esb-Technologies" (Russia), "Heat Technologies" (Poland). German and Polish stamps tend to be more expensive than domestic products. How larger size cloth, the cheaper the product will cost. The film is sold in rolls or in sheets folded in half. Films can have a self-adhesive backing or be glued to a soapy solution. For a window measuring 1400 by 1300 mm, you need to purchase approximately 1.82 m2 of film and 5.5 m of adhesive tape. As a result, the Polish film will cost 150 rubles for 1 window.
