How to make a garden arch from plastic pipes. The original use of plastic pipes. wood product

DIY garden arch is a great decoration suburban area and courtyard of a private house. In addition to purely aesthetic functions, this building has practical significance. This is expressed in the fact that the cultivation of climbing plants presents a certain difficulty. The use of various props and stretch marks helps to solve the problem only partially. Only decorative, manufactured with my own hands, arches will give the site a presentable look, filling it with beauty and comfort. Today, there are many possibilities and materials for making an arch for a garden. This is a fairly simple structure that does not require special skills and professional tools. You can assemble the arch in literally 1 day, with a minimum of effort. Consider various options actions with which you can make beautiful structures for a private garden with your own hands.

An arch for flowers is a structure consisting of 2 supports and an arc connecting their tops.

Even in a small yard there is always room for several arches.

The choice in favor of one or another arch design for the garden should be made based on the relief of the site, the presence and type of paths, and the style of landscape design. In a large garden, you can install several of these structures. To select the installation site for the arch in the garden, site diagrams are drawn up, according to which the most optimal option for placing products on the ground is selected.

A garden arch made on its own by a home craftsman can be installed in the following places:

  • paths and trails;
  • benches;
  • playgrounds;
  • entrance gates;
  • doors to the house;
  • ponds and pools.

The arch can be a single structure or make up a complex of identical or different products. It all depends on the taste of the owners land plot.

Supports made of steel

The steel arch for flowers is a recognized classic in decorating land. This product is highly durable, reliable and durable. When properly designed and built, garden steel arches can last for decades.

Do-it-yourself metal arch is assembled using the following tools and materials:

  • welding machine;
  • Bulgarian;
  • shovel;
  • roulette;
  • building level;
  • hardware (reinforcement, corner, steel bar);
  • primer for metal and paint;
  • protective equipment (mask, gloves, respirator).

Work can be carried out at any time of the year, but it is better to do it in warm and dry weather so as not to experience discomfort due to heat, cold and dirt.

To assemble a metal arch should be in the following sequence:

  1. 1 Conduct marking and tracing on the ground. Dig holes for supports. Their depth should be at least 50 cm.
  2. 2 Make arcs. You can use a pipe bender or a template made by yourself. It is difficult to do this alone, so it is better to call a strong worker for help.
  3. 3 Weld the supports and arches together. Check if they are sized correctly. If necessary, correct products.
  4. 4 Connect together the components of the arch. For this, pieces of reinforcement or pre-made rings, rhombuses or other figures from a steel bar are used. Forged figures made to order look very good.
  5. 5 Clean the product from rust. Coat it with metal primer. After the primer dries, the arch must be painted with acrylic enamel, which is resistant to temperature changes and solar radiation.
  6. 6 Coat the lower part of the arch with tar and wrap with cellophane. This will prevent direct contact of the metal with wet soil and the occurrence of corrosion.
  7. 7 Install the finished structure in open pits. After alignment, the arch is finally fixed. To do this, it is quite enough to fall asleep in a pit and compact a mixture of fine gravel and sand.

If the flower arch is dismantled for the winter, then a mobile version of this design can be made. For this, they are inserted into the ground steel pipes and poured cement mortar. This technique will allow you to transfer the arch to a new place and simplify its maintenance in a warm and dry room.

Wood assembly

Wooden arches are made of timber and boards. natural material organically fits into any landscape of the land. In addition, working with wood is easy and simple. It lends itself perfectly to sawing, planing and drilling. Since wood is susceptible to mold, fungus and decay, raw materials that are resistant to moisture should be selected for the manufacture of outdoor structures. good choice is larch or cedar. These types of wood can be in open areas for decades without losing their practical and aesthetic qualities.

In order to make wooden arches, the following tools and materials are needed:

  • hacksaw;
  • roulette;
  • plane;
  • hammer;
  • sandpaper;
  • building level;
  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • nails;
  • antiseptic solution;
  • varnish for wood;
  • timber 100x100 mm;
  • rail 20x50 mm.

Since the top of the arch will be braided with flowers, it can be made in the form of a broken arc. For this, several fragments of timber are used, connected by a tenon-groove system. But you can go the other way and make real arcs with no corners.

The wooden arch is made in the following sequence:

  1. 1 A semicircular template is made. Its diameter should correspond to the width of the future arch. A suitable water or fuel container can be used as a template.
  2. 2 Blanks for arcs are placed on the template. A load is suspended from their ends. The greater its weight, the faster the bending process will take place.
  3. 3 Abundant wetting of wood is carried out hot water. This leads to the fact that it becomes soft and begins to bend under the weight of the load. When the beam acquires the desired radius, wetting stops. The blanks are dried and removed from the mold.
  4. 4 2 frames are assembled, of which the finished arch will consist. Supports with arcs can be connected using spikes or self-tapping screws. The joints of the workpieces are aligned and cleaned.
  5. 5 The space between the frames is filled with cross members. Their length depends on the design and purpose of the product. As crossbars, you can use pieces of rail or processed on lathe blanks. For an idea, you can use the design that is used in the manufacture of balusters for wooden stairs. You can come up with the shape of the crossbars yourself, showing imagination and creativity.
  6. 6 The assembled arch is tested for strength, ground and polished. Its surface is treated with an antiseptic and varnished. If the site owner likes dark-colored products, then he can stain the wood. This will emphasize its texture and darken it significantly.
  7. 7 Pits are dug 50-60 cm deep for supports. Their bottom is rammed and covered with rubble. That part of the timber, which will be in the ground, is abundantly lubricated with bitumen and wrapped with roofing material. This technique helps protect the wood from moisture and pests.
  8. 8 Supports are lowered into dug holes. They are leveled and fixed. For this, crushed stone or concrete mortar is used. If the arch is removable, then how many pipes are embedded in the ground, into which the supports are inserted.

With the onset of autumn, it is recommended to remove the wooden structure and put it in the barn. If this is not possible, then you can wrap it with cellophane and fix it with tape.

You can also make arcs from wooden bars of small length. It is necessary to glue them in the form of a semicircle, grabbing them with nails or self-tapping screws for reliability. After the glue dries, you need to draw an arc on the resulting workpiece and cut it out with a jigsaw.

Building made of plastic pipes

You can easily and quickly assemble an original and durable arch from plastic sewer or water pipes. polymer plastic corrosion resistant and resistant to mildew. He does not need any protection from external factors. Based on the choice of type of pipes, the finished structure can be monolithic or collapsible. Let's consider this question in more detail.

In order to make a collapsible arch, unreinforced sewer pipes with a diameter of 50 mm are used. They are strong enough to withstand the considerable weight of plants and strong gusts of wind. For assembly, you only need a tape measure and a hacksaw to adjust the integral parts of the structure along the length. The parts are connected using tees and crosses. You can bend the pipe into an arc shape using heat. To do this, a plastic plug is inserted into the workpiece, boiling water is poured and a second one is installed. Under influence high temperature the polymer becomes soft and pliable. He is given desired shape, the product is fixed in the desired position and left in it until the liquid has completely cooled. After that, they can be used further.

To keep the arch supports firmly in the ground, you can use a 50x200 mm adapter filled with sand as a base. Pipes easily enter it, hold firmly and are simply removed. To improve the aesthetic qualities of products made of polymer pipes, paint is used. Its color is chosen based on the variety of plants that will braid the arch. The best option is black and green colors, against which flowers look great.

How to make a garden arch from plastic pipes:

  1. Depending on the desired dimensions of the arch, the pipe is cut into segments of a certain size.
  2. Select adapters. Here the main criterion is compliance in diameter and size.
  3. All contact areas are degreased.
  4. After the parts put on the “ironing” nozzle are completely warmed up, they must be inserted into the adapter. The joints must not be touched until they are completely cooled.

Material for work

Connecting individual elements with glue

This is a very quick, easy and convenient way, for which you need one jar of glue. The technology of working with it is no different from that used in any other gluing.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. A layer of glue is applied to the end of the outer surface of the pipe segment.
  2. Then, in the same way, smear inner surface tee.
  3. After that, the parts just need to be connected and rotated relative to each other.

Plastic arch with wood imitation

Fifteen seconds of waiting and you can use it!

Even easier is to buy a ready-made plastic garden arch. The variety of shapes, colors and designs allows you to choose a design element for any stylistic direction.

Arch made of plastic for the gate

Installation and design of the arch structure

After all the components are securely fixed to each other, it remains to install the plastic structure in the ground. This is a no less important stage and it is necessary to take it with all seriousness. Otherwise, the installed arch may simply fall at the first gust of wind.

The bent arch should be installed in holes 30 cm deep, then covered with earth and firmly tamped. The distance between the edges can be arbitrary, and the height should not interfere with free passage.

Stylish garden decoration

The fundamental rule for creating an arched opening as part of a unique landscape is its competent and harmonious interweaving into the structure of the surrounding nature. Therefore, the arch must match overall design garden. So, the monumental opening will look ridiculous against the background little house or in the middle of a plot with an area of 6-7 acres.

As an additional decor, you can and should use climbing evergreens and climbing roses. They will help give extra volume. The first plants that come across should not be planted - it is important to consider individual characteristics culture and local climate, so that the arch looks attractive in any season.

Do-it-yourself garden arch made of plastic pipes: types and features of construction

Arched design for the garden

  • Varieties
  • PVC pipe arch
  • How to weld elements?

The garden arch is a structure that consists of upper, horizontal crossbars and uprights.

It is installed as decorative element, which will give the site splendor and charm, or it can serve as a support for cultivated plants.

In any case, such an erection will please the eye and at the same time serve as an excellent decoration of the landscape, such a highlight, making it exquisite, special, not like the neighboring ones.

Varieties

There are many various kinds arches. They can be made of metal, stone, wood or plastic. The latter type is considered the most economical and in demand. You can even build an arch from water plastic pipes (PVC) with your own hands.

Arches differ in the way they are used. Some use it for practical purposes, for example, a do-it-yourself arch made of plastic pipes is perfect for grapes. Such a design can not only form a vineyard, but it will also serve as an excellent support for the vine. Other types of arches are installed to give the site an attractive appearance.

Such structures are also divided by location. The design can be made up of several parts (a kind of flower / vine corridor is formed). It can also be arranged as a gazebo. They also install a single arch, which did not adjoin anything.

As for the form, it can be any, depending on its application.

An arch made of plastic pipes is a great option for giving

Great decoration for the garden

An arch created from pieces of water / heating pipes is considered the most the best option for giving. Installation of such a structure will take only a couple of hours.

When installing, it is worth remembering that not all types of plastic tolerate high / low temperatures. Therefore, the design should be made as a team.

The advantages of an arch made of plastic pipes

Unlike a wooden arch, a plastic one is not afraid of moisture, so it will not be covered with fungus and mold. There is no need to paint such a structure, since it has a white color from the moment of installation, which will not fade or peel off over time.

Important detail: It is also worth noting that a plastic structure will last longer than an iron or wooden one. Manufacturers claim that PVC products can last about half a century.

Another advantage - unlike metal, PVC does not corrode. Also, due to the low weight, the installation will be quick and easy.

PVC pipe arch

Before starting construction, everything should be thought out to the smallest detail. Mentally imagine what kind of arch you want to see in your backyard. Then you should create drawings of the future design. In order for exactly the structure that you imagined to flaunt on the site, you need to correctly calculate the dimensions. Otherwise, the arch may turn out to be skewed.

Installation of an arch for roses from PVC pipes

Compound individual elements

For work you will need:

  • water pipe with a diameter of 20 mm and a length of 12 m;
  • twelve tees.

The dimensions of the structure can be increased.

Technology:

  1. Cut the pipe. The result should be: two pieces of 1.5 m each, four pieces of 80 cm each and eight elements of 40 cm each. You also need to make six pieces of 30 cm jumpers.
  2. With the help of an “iron” (soldering iron), jumpers with tees are soldered. Then begin to weld all the remaining pipes.
  3. An arc is bent from the pipes. The ends are placed in the ground to a depth of 30 cm. The distance between the edges is 1.7 m. The height of the arch is 1.7 m. If desired, the distance can be increased or decreased.
  4. It remains only to plant roses and wait until they bloom.

How to weld elements?

For welding, a special welding machine is used - a soldering iron. In the people it is called "iron". It can be both purchased and borrowed. The soldering process should be taken seriously.

So, before you start soldering, you need to install the appropriate nozzles on the device (they must fit the diameter of the element). Then, using the regulator, set the thermal regime.

On a note: Optimum temperature heating - 260 degrees. You can start work only when the "iron" is fully heated, it will take about fifteen minutes.

While the machine is warming up, you can prepare the parts for welding. To do this, marks are placed on the elements for soldering. According to the marks, the part is cut.

Instruction:

  1. Cut the pipe along the marks.
  2. Fittings are selected right size.
  3. Degrease the work area.
  4. Parts are inserted into the nozzles.
  5. After the elements are fully heated, they are removed from the nozzle and inserted into the fittings.
  6. The soldering points are not touched until they have completely cooled down.

How to make a garden arch

Who at least once did not admire this decorative garden decoration? Or did not remember the rest on the bench under the arch, entwined with clematis or climbing roses? But did this arched structure, immersed in a green waterfall of wild grape branches, hung with flower pots of flowering annual begonias and petunias, leave anyone indifferent? All this beauty of the decorated territory of the site is given by one of the most expressive elements of landscape design - a garden arch. And the beauty created by one's own hands pleases doubly.

How to make a garden arch yourself, without resorting to the help of professionals, to accentuate and decorate a recreation area - patio or garden? To cope with this task by building a "flowering corridor" and decorating it with plants, any summer resident or amateur gardener can do it.

Span plus supports

Garden arch - a vaulted structure, consists of vertical posts (supports) with an arcuate or direct connection at the top. It has a shape symmetrical about the vertical axis and a through opening "gate" or repeating sections. Refers to small landscape forms. It has a variety of styles.

According to the material of manufacture, garden arches are:

  • Wooden - block, plank, trellis, wicker or combined.
  • Metal - from pipes, rods, profiles, metal portable trellises, including forged arches.
  • Plastic - from pipes, collapsible, sectional or lattice.
  • Stone - brick, buildings from natural stone on the foundation.

Light wooden structures

wooden arch

Wooden arches have a presentable "classic" look, are easy to paint and easy to manufacture. They are the most common type of arches with an acceptable price / quality ratio. Lumber for arches is selected dried. The best drying is natural, for three years under a canopy. To make an arch with a corridor length of 3 m, you will need 6 bars (3 on each side). Rectangular section 75 × 75 mm or 100 × 100 mm, height 2.0–2.2 m. At one end, the bars are impregnated with an antiseptic for the length of the recess (you can use used motor oil, diesel fuel). If poles are used as supports, a proven method is used - logs are burned at the stake.

Pits are made with a garden drill or a shovel every 1.5 m with a depth of 0.5–0.6 m. The verticality of the installation is checked building level or plumb. The most reliable installation method is concreting. However, there is an opinion that concrete "attracts" moisture, from which the tree quickly becomes unusable. Therefore, a solid fill should be preferred to a three-layer fill - layers cement screed should be alternated with layers of dense soil.

Of the 6-7 prepared rails of arbitrary section, 4 are mounted horizontally between the bars - they fill the voids. Two or three slats will go at the end of the assembly to connect the three arches of the vault-floor. The semicircular arcs themselves are made from a wooden beam (board) according to a cardboard template that repeats the profile of the future floor from the chain of the n-th number of fragments-details having a rounded shape.

The length of each is usually 40-80 cm and depends on the radius of the future arch and the width of the lumber used. A cardboard template is superimposed on a wooden blank, the contour of the fragment is outlined and the part is cut out with an electric jigsaw or manual router. final assembly made on a cardboard template - the first layer of cut fragments is laid end-to-end. Then, with a shift of half a detail, a second layer is laid on it. Both layers are interconnected with self-tapping screws, and the finished arcs are installed and attached to the upper parts of the supports.

Note! The disadvantage of wooden arches is a relatively short service life and low structural stability.

Wrought iron garden arch

Metal structures are strong and durable if you take care of them. Full painting is done every 3-4 years. Tinting in places where rust appears - annually. For the manufacture of a garden arch, two metal rods are taken L = 6 m and Ø 10 mm. A template for the future opening is prepared on the ground - a contour is outlined with paint, and metal pins L = 20–30 cm are driven into it. The legs of the curved reinforcement are buried in the ground to a depth of 45–50 cm, the dug holes are filled concrete mortar. Rings are formed from meter-long rods on a pipe bender - fillers of the space between the arcs and fasten them to the skeleton with soft wire.

Manufacturing scheme

In the absence of this bending tool, the space is filled with crossbars - straight metal bars. The finished structure is covered with an anti-corrosion coating - a primer layer and painted with enamel.

Lightweight and high performance

From PVC pipes

It is these qualities that plastic arches have - modern look landscape structures. They are made independently, plastic pipes of round or rectangular section are used as the frame material - most often they use plumbing pipes Ø 20 mm. best material counts quality PVC- it better tolerates high and low temperatures, so such structures are not cleaned by the owners for the winter in utility room. An alternative to manufacturing is to buy ready-made structures of various styles - they are easy to assemble, and installation does not require special skills.

Note! The disadvantage of plastic structures is the limited choice colors- in most cases they white color. However, the problem is easily solved by applying color to the surface of the garden arch. Issued wide choose polyurethane paints And acrylic enamels specially designed for plastic and PVC. With their help, you can easily change the color of the arch.

Wooden pergola and brick arch

A sequence of light arches connected by beams in the form of a canopy is called a pergola (from the Italian name pergula - canopy, extension). According to the location, they can be independent, stand-alone, or structures attached at one end to the wall of the room. Often pergolas start over entrance group premises or a terrace and serve to protect residents from the scorching rays of the sun, including places for barbecues, swimming pools or outbuildings. A pergola with a bench can serve as a local recreation area. Replaces a gazebo, having a similar one with ordinary arches simple technology manufacturing.

  • boards - section 7 x 4 cm;
  • slats - section 4 x 2 cm; 4 x 1.5 cm;
  • wood screws, anchor screws;
  • pieces of asbestos-cement pipe - 4 pieces, 15-20 cm in diameter, 50 cm long;
  • metal bases for supports;
  • electric jigsaw or saw;
  • screwdriver or a set of screwdrivers;
  • sanding paper;
  • cement M400;
  • small-sized crushed stone;
  • river sand;
  • waterproof paint or yacht varnish.

How to make an arch:

1. Make basic wooden elements arches: from a bar 10 x 10 cm - supporting pillars(you will need 4 pieces of 200 cm each); from a bar 5 x 4 cm - cross beams with curly edges (2 pcs. 180 cm each); from the board - longitudinal crossbars (2 pcs. 80 cm each), perpendicular crossbars (8 pcs. 120 cm each).

2. Prepare cuts wooden slats for arch lattice: short - 20 pcs. 80 cm, long - 8 pcs. 150 cm, side - 4 pcs. 150 cm.

3. Try on metal supports to the bottom of the arch pillars. If necessary, the timber is adjusted in size by sawing with a jigsaw.

4. All parts are ground, treated with moisture-resistant and antifungal impregnation, and dried. Cover with two layers of yacht varnish or waterproof paint and completely dry again. If desired, the arch can be painted after installation.

5. In the ground, using a drill or an ordinary shovel, dig 4 holes - 20 cm in diameter, about 35 cm deep. They should form a rectangle 1.5 x 0.5 m. which is loosely packed.

6 Install sections of asbestos-cement pipe into prepared pits. Fill the recesses of the pipes to the top with cement mortar. The surface is leveled. Work is continued after two days, after the cement has completely solidified.

7. Anchor screws (you can also use ordinary screws with dowels) to the pipes protruding above the ground are attached to the metal supports for the arch pillars.

8. Fix in supports wooden poles also with screws (with nuts). Check periodically the quality of the installation by level. If there are no special metal supports for the arch columns, you can strengthen them directly in the ground, after wrapping them with roofing material. In this case, the bars for the pillars are made 15-20 cm longer.

9. Two upper transverse beams with curly edges are attached to the posts with self-tapping screws. For strength, the arch pillars are fixed with diagonal and horizontal struts. Then eight upper longitudinal bars are installed.

Metal garden arch with round vault

What to prepare for work:

  • metal profile (25 x 25 or 30 x 30 mm);
  • steel rods (section ≈ 30 x 30 mm, length 30 cm);
  • mechanical or automatic pipe bender;
  • circular saw for metal or grinder;
  • welding machine;
  • fine gravel;
  • river sand;
  • cement M400-500;
  • fine sandpaper.

How to make a metal garden arch:

1. Metallic profile decontaminating, polishing sandpaper, degrease.

2. The following are made from the processed profile: 8-12 segments 45 cm long (arch beams), 2 segments 6.3 m long (arcs of the arch).

3. On each side, on both arcs, measure 1 meter. Make marks. With the help of a pipe bender, without affecting the marked sections of the edges of the profile, two semicircular arch frames are made.

4. All side rails are welded perpendicularly to one of the metal arcs at regular intervals. Then this frame of the arch with the crossbars is turned over, after which they are joined to the second and also carefully welded. As an additional decor, you can use ready-made forged elements.

5. Upon completion of work, steel rods are securely welded to the ends of both arcs of the finished arch.

6. Measure the distance between the support rods. Four holes are made in the ground for their installation, 45 cm deep, about 10-15 cm wide. They are filled with 15 cm of sand and gravel, moistened, tamped. Install the arch, after wrapping the rods with roofing material. Fill holes in the ground with cement mortar. Check the quality of the installation of the arch by level. Fix the supports until the cement hardens with spacers.

Light country arch from plastic pipes

What to prepare for work:

  • plastic pipe, section 20 mm;
  • construction knife or hacksaw;
  • plastic fittings;
  • soldering iron with a nozzle "iron".

How to make a plastic garden arch:

1. From plastic pipes (polypropylene are the most convenient to use and durable), arch elements are cut. For the simplest single structure, you need: 2 segments for supports of 1.6 m each and 1 segment for a horizontal lintel, 1.5 m long. For an arch with an arched vault, you will need a lintel 2.4 m long.

2. Prepared plastic parts, alternately heating on the "ironing", tightly connected with fittings. You can additionally fix the joints of the arch with any quick-setting glue.

3. The finished arch made of plastic pipes is buried in the ground, well rammed. If desired, you can strengthen the supports with cement, but given the ease of construction, this is not necessary.
