Heating cottages with liquefied gas. Gas-balloon heating of the house. Choosing a boiler for heating a summer house with gas cylinders

A propane gas boiler is able to heat a room no worse than a unit tuned to ordinary main gas. When installing the equipment, it is necessary to remember the oxygen regulator, since, according to the norms, it should flow into the unit more than into the usual boiler. In order to guarantee uninterrupted and safe work such a device, the boilers are equipped with special devices that stop the operation of the device in case emergency. Another feature that significantly distinguishes a liquefied gas installation from a natural gas boiler is that the burner in it has a much smaller diameter, and, as a result, less pressure of the gas that comes from the cylinders.

Heating a private house with gas cylinders: the consumption of the necessary fuel

As practice shows and consumer reviews testify, for a house of 100 m², gas is needed approximately 3 to 2 cylinders per week, provided that the capacity is 50 liters. From this calculation, you can determine how much fuel you need to heat a country house. For example, for a house of 200 m², the amount of gas will increase to 4 containers per week. If your house has an area of about 50 m 2, then 1 cylinder will be enough for you.

The gas-cylinder installation of a gas boiler house for a private house on 100 m² liquefied gas cylinders requires the simultaneous connection of at least 4 cylinders - 2 working ones, plus 2 reserve ones. For an area of 200 m², 8-10 containers are usually enough. To ensure absolute ease of use, your set of connection equipment must have a ramp.

Alternative gas heating from cylinders: making the right choice

If you have a boiler that runs on propane for heating your summer cottage, then it is very difficult to accurately determine the flow rate of the gas it needs. Often this indicator depends on the method of warming the room. If the winter is severe, then the figure, of course, will grow. If you have insulated your house well enough and there are no severe frosts outside the window, then you will use gas with great savings.

To calculate the approximate figure for propane consumption for heating a room, use the formula, which shows that to obtain energy in the amount of 1 kW, you will need about 0.1 kg of propane.

The fuel consumption of a propane gas boiler will please you much more than you would have to pay for heating the same house with electricity. The most economical is the use of main gas, but it is not always possible to connect to a common centralized gas supply system. In this case, heating the space with a propane boiler would be the smartest idea. When buying a heating unit, be sure to take an interest in user reviews, consult with experts, and ask consultants to give you complete description device and the possibility of its conversion to liquefied bottled gas. Before making a final decision in favor of installing gas equipment, be sure to carefully weigh all the important arguments, calculate the fuel consumption, and only after that proceed with the installation steps.

Gas boiler from a cylinder of 50 liters: how long will it last

Often owners country houses, as well as real estate within the city, are abandoning centralized heating and the main gas pipeline in favor of alternative options that provide for the possibility of space heating using liquefied gas. It is easy to use and more affordable. The radiator and battery heat up just as well.

Modern gas heating of premises using liquefied gas boilers involves the use of a number of parts, consisting of several types of equipment and a heat supply system. Only the main unit in this design still remains the boiler, which is responsible for receiving heat.

As in standard heating appliances, a gas boiler that operates on liquefied gas allows private houses to provide heating of rooms, as well as hot water supply, by burning it. Often this heating equipment is compact in size, high performance and good efficiency rates, which sometimes reach 95%.

In addition, this device has the following advantages:

 • Low cost;
 • Allows you to significantly reduce the funds spent on heating and hot water;
 • Can function at low gas pressure;
 • Has low fuel consumption;
 • Allows you to turn off the heating when it is not needed.

If you use a propane gas boiler, then the fuel consumption will be approximately the following: 130 sq. m, taking into account the quality installed windows and entrance doors, will be in the region of one cylinder, weighing 50 kg for 2 or 3 days. If the air temperature in the room you want is not less than 21-23, and in addition to this you also need hot water, then you will have to fill 3-4 cylinders per week. If your house is smaller, then fuel consumption decreases proportionally.

Features of heating with liquefied gas

The choice of heating units that run on liquefied gas is simply huge today. Here you can find products from both domestic manufacturers and goods from various world brands.

Each model you meet has a unique operational properties and their corresponding cost. To the process of heating a country cottage bottled gas- propane from a gas tank has become economical and efficient, you need to choose the right type of unit and take into account its main features of operation, and technical capabilities.

In order for a propane heater to work properly, it must be properly connected and replaced with nozzles. This equipment has performed quite well. It is willingly installed by the owners of a country cottage, who do not have the opportunity to connect to a common gas main or heating system. This type of heating is very practical in operation, has a low output coefficient harmful substances, compact, and the efficiency at the same time is quite high. Propane-butane gas is a great alternative to the usual natural gas.

When buying a boiler, consider the following:

 • Type of heater. Apparatus for heating on liquefied gas can be single-circuit and double-circuit. The first option is suitable exclusively for heating, while the second type, in addition to heating, also provides hot water supply.
 • efficiency. In fact, all units that operate on liquefied gas have high efficiency rates that reach 90-94%.
 • Power. This indicator is one of the most important parameters characterizing the type of heating equipment. It is necessary that the unit you choose can easily provide hot water and heating all rooms in the house.

And, of course, an important indicator is the manufacturing company. Practice shows that it is highly desirable to give preference to firms that have been successfully operating in the market for a long time and have positive user reviews.

Heating from a gas cylinder (video)

Owners of private dwellings should be aware that heating boilers running on liquefied gas. It is possible to easily transfer to a different mode of operation, and they will work using a different type of fuel, or rather main gas. To do this, it is only necessary to replace the burner, nozzles, remove the gearbox and replace some other equipment. You can do all this with your own hands, however, in order to properly establish a connection, you must follow the rules for using propane installations.

Natural gas is currently the most optimal fuel for home heating. The only negative is that it is not always possible to connect the heating system to the main gas pipeline. In this case, you can pay attention to an alternative in the form of liquefied gas - boilers using bottled gas in our country are not uncommon.

Classification

Boilers operating on liquefied gas are single-circuit and double-circuit. A single-circuit boiler is intended only for heating, while a double-circuit boiler is capable of both heating the house and providing hot water in it.

Consumers are offered wall-mounted, with open and closed cells combustion. In addition, you should pay attention to the power of this heater. A variety of modifications often makes it difficult for the user to choose, so it is worth dwelling in more detail on the most important characteristics.

For boilers operating on liquefied gas, the ability to operate at low pressure is of fundamental importance.

The constant supply of bottled gas will be carried out at a pressure of 3-4 Mbar. Therefore, you should pay attention to this parameter.

efficiency

Efficiency is one of the most important parameters heating system. Liquefied gas is more expensive than trunk gas, and transportation costs must be added to its cost.

The efficiency of modern serviceable equipment can reach 90-95%. To calculate the gas consumption for heating, you need to know the total area of the room: approximately 1 kW of power is consumed per 10 sq.m.

For heating and hot water country house 100 square meters will require about 2 cylinders per week and 8-9 cylinders per month. You can connect the cylinders in a group: according to the rules, the use of a system of cylinders up to 15 pcs is allowed. In this case, gas containers must be in a closed metal cabinet.

Mounting hardware

To install the heating system you will need:

 • burner for liquefied (balloon) gas and gas cylinders themselves;
 • valves and reducers.

Bottled gas burners differ in their configuration from conventional ones, and are usually included as standard with gas boilers. If necessary, they can be purchased separately. Shut-off valves and the necessary gearboxes can be purchased from the company or directly at the cylinder filling stations.

Connection

A cylinder or a group of cylinders is connected to the boiler through a reducer with a throughput of about 2 m3 / hour. Reducers for domestic stoves are designed for lower throughput - they are not suitable for the heating system. The gas tank system can have one common reducer or a separate regulator for each cylinder. The second option is more expensive, but it is recommended by the masters - separate gearboxes provide maximum safety.

Cylinders of liquefied gas cannot be installed outdoors: the cold will provoke a decrease in pressure, and the heating pad may refuse to work. The ideal place for installation is a warm, ventilated room. It is important to remember that bottled gas is heavier than air, and in the event of a leak, it will accumulate at the bottom, increasing the likelihood of an explosion. Therefore, the room should be chosen separately from living rooms. It should not have basements and subfloors!

Gas cylinders are connected to the boiler burner using a metal corrugated pipe- this reduces the likelihood of gas leaks due to system vibrations.

With help automatic sensors and the right settings, you can reduce propane consumption rates by 3-4 times. If it's about country house, then the gas consumption will be even lower: for the period of absence of people, the automation will maintain the temperature at the level of 6-9 ° C, which will reduce the propane consumption to 0.7-0.8 cylinders per week. Heating a building with liquefied gas is not the cheapest option, but in some cases it is the most optimal if there is no problem with the delivery of cylinders.

The gas boiler perfectly performs its functions when connected to the main gas pipeline. In this case, it is quite easy to switch the equipment to a constant source of fuel supply - just change the burner.

But if there are no prospects for connecting the building to the gas pipeline, the feasibility should be recalculated. For a house with a total area of more than 100 m2 and maintaining a temperature of about 25 ° C, it is worth considering installing a solid fuel boiler or other heat generator and water heating.

Refueling

Cylinders undergo mandatory certification every 3 years - this is necessary for the user's own safety. Such containers can serve for about 10 years. standard house consumes about 10-12 cylinders per month, so they will have to be refueled weekly - it is impossible to transport more than 3 cylinders at a time without special permission.

Before refueling, the vessels must be prepared. To do this, you need to remove the condensate, which artificially reduces the usable volume and harms the steel walls. Removing condensate is the prerogative of specialists; doing such work with your own hands is always a risk. If for some reason it is difficult to find a master, then you will have to carry out the procedure yourself. The cylinder is taken out to an open space without sources of fire, grounded and then the gearbox is removed. Leave for 2 hours so that the remaining gas disappears. After two hours of inactivity, the vessel turns over, and the water flows into the ground. You can take it to a gas station.

It is worth choosing a refueller who organizes both transportation and a guarantee for work. It is better not to go to car stations, because their equipment does not have a special cut-off valve that regulates gas filling household cylinders. They also do not have a special connector for connecting the cylinder to the station equipment.

In this article we will talk about what you need to know if you decide to heat your home with liquefied gas. Gas (a product of oil refining) is liquefied, under the influence of high pressure, and in this condition is delivered to the consumer. This makes it possible to fill the cylinders with a large volume. The cylinder is connected to the heating boiler through a reducer (a device for reducing the pressure in the system). The gas leaving the cylinder passes through the reducer and, as a result of a rapid decrease in pressure, returns to its original (gaseous) state. In the boiler, it is burned, releasing a large number of heat.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages:

 • gas is an environmentally friendly product and meets all regulations and standards;
 • autonomy, quite simple to connect and operate;
 • the pressure in the pipes is relatively stable;
 • gas consumption is minimal;
 • two times cheaper than diesel fuel.

Flaws:

 • at negative temperature if the cylinder is placed on the street, the system may turn off, since the condensate, freezing, prevents the gas from escaping;
 • gas cylinders must be kept in a sufficiently warm place.

Fuels and basic rules

Cylinders can be filled with different grades of fuel:

 • technical butane- denoted by the abbreviation - B
 • a mixture of propane and butane technical summer - SPBTL
 • a mixture of propane and butane technical winter - SPBTZ.

Compliance simple rules security can save your life.

Heating system

The heating system itself consists of the following elements:

 1. Fuel, in our case, liquefied gas.
 2. Boiler, one or two circuit, with the transition to liquefied gas.
 3. Radiator, heat transfer element.
 4. piping system, to distribute heated water to radiators.

Let's take a closer look at the components of the entire system:

With fuel (gas), everything is clear enough, you just need to purchase new ones, quality cylinders, preferably 50 liters, or a gas tank (five cubic meters for storing liquefied gas, approximately 4250 liters). I advise you to purchase in a specialized store.

To calculate the gas consumed by the system, you need to know:

 • room area, which you are going to heat;
 • boiler power and coefficient useful action(efficiency).

Calculation of the cost of balloon heating

The heating season is approximately 6-7 months, multiply by 30 days and multiply by 24 hours, then multiply by 0.5 (factor to calculate the operating time gas burner in the boiler at maximum power, we take about 50% of the total time of the entire system) = 2520 hours.

To heat up 100 sq. m. premises, you will need a boiler with a capacity of approximately 10 kW.

Calculation of gas fuel consumption, which will be required for heating the house: 10 kW. hours * 2520 hours = 25,200 kW. h.

For a boiler with a power of 10 kW. and, with an efficiency of at least 90%, the fuel consumption (liquefied gas) is 0.86 kg/h:

 • calculation of gas consumption for heating a house will look like this: 0.86 kg / h * 2520 h = 2167.2 kg / year;
 • in a container for 27 liters of liquefied gas in total 11.5 kilograms;
 • the average cost of a liter of gas is approximately 14 rubles;

We calculate the cost of the required amount of liquefied gas for heating season: (2167.2 kg / year * 27 l. / 11.5 kg.) * 14 rubles. = 71 860 rubles per year.

If containers (bolons) of 50 liters are used. in which approximately 21.2 kg., liquid gas is filled: (2167.2 kg / year. * 50 l. / 21.2 kg.) * 14 rubles. = 71,558 rubles per year.

Of course example calculation, for a more accurate calculation, much more values are required (location of the house, area, degree of thermal insulation of the house, windows, doors, and a number of other factors that can affect the consumption of heat energy).

In principle, there is nothing complicated in choosing a boiler, its power is calculated based on the area of the room, for example, a boiler with a capacity of 10kw., suits the room in 100 sq.m. The main thing is that the boiler should be a good, well-known company specializing in this equipment. And a wide range of spare parts were on sale for it (there is nothing eternal). You can put double boiler, and it will provide you not only with heat in the house, but also with hot water, but at the same time the gas consumption will increase (depending on what the consumption will be hot water). And if you have two or three storey building, then the boiler should take a little more power. So it will last much longer.

Specialists perform much accurate calculations, to calculate the thermal energy of heating radiators by power. Very important heating area calculation radiators, for their correct distribution.

When buying radiators, you will definitely need the simplest calculation of heating power. In order to do this, it is necessary to calculate the area of the room and its height, as well as the cost of thermal energy (power) per 1 m. Under standard conditions, for a typical room, approximately 41 W. power. And multiplying the volume of the room (room) by this indicator, we get the amount of heat that is necessary to provide the radiator when heating the room (room). For example, to heat one room with a total area 18 sq.m. and height 3m. you need a radiator, with an ordinal power at 2.5 kW.

Now you need to calculate the number of radiators for heating the room. We divide the power necessary for heating the room by the power of one section of the battery, we can get required amount radiator sections. If my memory serves me, then one section bimetal radiator heating, has a power of approximately 150 watts. Before buying a radiator battery, on the package, or in his passport, it is reported its thermal power. This is a simple concept that refers to the heat (in quantitative terms) that the battery will release when cooled with operating temperature heating, to a temperature of approximately 18-20 degrees Celsius.

Calculation of radiators and their number by specialists

Of course, the most The right way, is to apply for calculation to specialists. Their method is quite accurate and allows you to calculate the required number of radiator sections for each room in a residential building, and for any other room in a private house. Their method takes into account many parameters:

 • material, what the walls are made of and their thickness
 • window type, installed in every room of the house
 • area ratio walls and windows
 • climatic conditions in your area
 • is the room above your room heated
 • how many walls your room goes outside the house
 • square rooms and ceiling heights.

Piping system

The system itself consists of properly selected and laid pipes of heating mains, which connect your radiators and the boiler. There are two types of such systems for laying pipelines: one-pipe and two-pipe.

When designing a heating system, two-pipe scheme eyeliner involves the installation of two pipes on each of the batteries, the so-called "supply and return". Through one of them (supply), the coolant (water) enters the heater, through the other (return), having already cooled down, it returns to the boiler. The use of such a wiring diagram makes it possible to achieve the same degree of heating coolant in all batteries at home. Two-pipe type wiring is divided into two main varieties:

 1. Connection of radiators in parallel-series (one closed ring).
 2. Using a collector, to which all radiators are connected with separate sleeves (pipes).

The second type of connection of radiators makes it possible regulate the temperature each battery. But she also has a tangible financial disadvantage, this is the need to install a large number of metal-plastic or other pipes for heating for supplying to radiators. One-pipe heating scheme from metal-plastic pipes it functions like this: the heated coolant (water) simply flows through the pipes from one radiator to another. Simply put, such a system is consistent, and this leads to a gradual coolant cooling along his path. This means that the last radiator in the chain will always be significantly colder than the first battery. The main advantage of a single-pipe heating heating system made of metal-plastic pipes is it's cheap her arrangement.

Also, very important is degree of thermal insulation your house. If you have taken all measures and insulated walls, ceilings, floors, put new good windows, and you have a modern, high-quality, Entrance door(doors). Then the heat loss of your heating system will be minimal and for the season, you will spend much less money than planned.

Urban residents are actively building dachas and country houses, mastering the territories adjacent to the settlement. The areas where the gas pipeline does not pass are not an exception. In the absence of supply lines and a centralized supply of hot water, property owners decide to connect gas boilers for heating from a cylinder. The use of liquefied gas allows you to heat houses and produce water heating. Consider the connection features, evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of balloon heating.

Is it possible to connect gas boilers for heating from a cylinder

When thinking about whether it is allowed to produce heating with a gas boiler from a cylinder, you need to know that the design features of most heating units make it possible for them to operate on various types of gas:

 • main, which is supplied through the lines of centralized gas supply;
 • bottled propane, which can be pumped into containers of various sizes.

Due to the fact that in the state of delivery the main part of the heating units is designed to operate on mains fuel, it is necessary to perform one of the types of work related to the conversion:

 • replace injectors;
 • dismantle the burner.

After the conversion, all types of vehicles will be able to operate on liquefied fuel heating devices, regardless of their heat output and combustion chamber design:

 • single-circuit and double-circuit;
 • mounted and floor.

When choosing a gas boiler for heating from a gas cylinder, pay attention to the following points:

 • the feasibility of using units with reduced operating pressure, which will allow the use of liquefied bottled gas with the maximum degree of efficiency;
 • the use of devices with increased efficiency, providing efficient fuel combustion at minimal cost.

Having answered the question in the affirmative about the possibility of connecting heating devices to tanks, we will dwell on them in more detail.

Bottled gas is the main power source

Metal containers intended for the storage of pressurized liquefied gas differ from other types of containers:

 • volume, which is 5, 12, 27 and 40 liters;
 • degree of filling, which should not exceed 85%;
 • adapter design;
 • in red, indicating an explosive hazard.

Refueling possible various types gas:

 • propane;
 • butane;
 • a mixture of propane and butane.

Carrying out gas heating of the dacha with cylinders, the latter option is used.

The fuel in the gaseous state, which occupies an increased volume, is liquefied in a special way. During compression, the gaseous fraction becomes liquid, which makes it possible to fill the container with a gaseous substance in an increased volume. In order to prevent a fire hazard, it is forbidden to connect cylinders directly to consumers without using a special reducer.

To feed the boiler with liquefied propane, it is necessary to prepare:

 • reducer designed to reduce pressure;
 • shut-off valves that allow you to shut off the supply lines;
 • pipes connecting individual elements into the overall system.

When using bottled gas, it is necessary to Special attention to comply with the rules fire safety.

The main advantages of bottled gas:

 • ecological cleanliness;
 • autonomy;
 • ease of operation;
 • pressure constancy.

The main disadvantages of using household containers:

 • insufficient volume;
 • the need for periodic refueling.

Reducing the number of trips to update tanks will allow the connection of a group of tanks with a common network. Let's dwell on this moment in more detail.

Features of connecting reserve cylinders

During the operation of a gas-balloon heating system, situations arise when the gas supply is interrupted at night, and heating stops. This gives residents a lot of inconvenience, since it is necessary to regularly monitor the filling of containers.

It is possible to make a group connection of the heating device using a special ramp. Design features ramps allow you to combine up to ten backup power tanks. How the ramp works:

 • tanks are divided into separate groups, each of which is equipped with its own pressure regulator;
 • the working group of cylinders supplies gas to the line supplying the heating unit;
 • switching to backup power is carried out automatically after the end of the gas in the main tanks with automatic feeding signal;
 • automatic switching to work from the main group is carried out after full refueling.

The use of a group layout allows you to increase the time interval between refueling. Possible various options connections:

 • a common reduction gear, which is mounted on the output line;
 • individual device installed on each container.

Despite the increased costs, the second option is safer.

How to perform heating with a gas boiler from a propane cylinder

It is important to correctly connect the heating system to the tank, while ensuring that safety requirements are met. It is necessary to use a reducer corresponding in performance:

 • a device designed for a gas flow rate of up to 2 m3 / h can be used to supply liquefied gas;
 • a reducer with a capacity of up to 1 m3/h, designed for stoves, cannot be used for heating.

Pay attention to the following points:

 • availability of free access to tanks with liquefied gas for maintenance;
 • inadmissibility of gasification of premises located in the basement or basement of the building;
 • maintaining the distance from the tank to the boiler or stove, which should be more than 100 cm;
 • the maximum volume of tanks, which for residential premises should not exceed 55 liters;
 • vertical arrangement of containers that must not be used in an inclined position or lying down;
 • a metal box with tanks should be closed and located in a safe place;
 • diameter of corrugated hoses or copper tubes, which, with a size of more than 2 cm, will provide gas supply at the maximum performance of the unit;
 • the use of a purchased unit for connecting tanks equipped with a pressure gauge will allow you to control the pressure and check the presence of gas.

The implementation of measures to connect the heating system should be entrusted to professionals who have undergone special training and are licensed to perform explosive work.

Is it allowed to install filled cylinders in the boiler room

The current regulatory documents on fire safety regulate the rules for installing liquefied gas tanks. Norms prohibit placing them in a common room with boilers.

Main requirements:

 • it is allowed to install tanks in a nearby room or outside the building in a special metal box;
 • storage of empty containers should be carried out outdoors, however, it is better to fill the containers on time;
 • to prevent freezing of containers installed in a metal box, it is necessary to apply thermal insulation materials, not subject to combustion;
 • it is forbidden to heat containers with frozen gas using an open flame;
 • storage of stocks is allowed only in a ventilated room in which there are no pits;
 • it is necessary to check the tightness of the tanks at intervals of four years during the certification process.

Remember that compared to air, propane is a heavier gas that, when leaked, concentrates in basements and pits. When a critical concentration is reached, an explosive situation is possible.

Is it necessary to readjust a gas boiler for heating from a gas cylinder

There is no need to reconfigure the heating device if it is correctly converted and connected in accordance with all requirements. Mandatory conditions for operation:

 • installation additional elements designed to maintain constant gas pressure;
 • the possibility of stable operation of the heating unit when the gas pressure drops to 4 mbar.

You should read in detail technical description and the operating manual of the boiler, which indicates the possibility of functioning on liquefied fuel and regulates the value of the operating pressure.

How to provide gas heating of a summer residence with cylinders

The process of switching the boiler to a liquefied type of fuel involves the following operations:

 • installation of a gas burner and dismantling of dosing nozzles. This will ensure the functioning of the boiler at reduced pressure, which corresponds to the balloon;
 • reduction gear assembly. The device allows to reduce the outlet pressure of the substance during the transition to the gaseous state;
 • checking the operation of the gas valve. A number of heating devices need to be replaced by the specified unit when switching to bottled gas.

Switching work is carried out only by representatives of specialized organizations.

Methodology for calculating the volume and need for cylinders for the boiler

 • the amount of gas contained in one tank allows heating a room of 50 square meters for a week. m;
 • the average consumption by the boiler of "blue fuel", spent on the production of 1 kW of heat, is 120 grams per hour.

Given the area of the heated room, you can easily perform a simple calculation. For example, for a house of 150 sq. m weekly will require 3 propane tanks of 40 liters. Multiplying the obtained value by 4 weeks, we get the need for a month - 12 pieces. For uninterrupted operation, 6-8 tanks can be connected simultaneously in two groups of 3-4 in each.

Equipping the heating system with automation elements will reduce gas consumption by controlling the temperature at night. If you live periodically, for example, only on weekends, you will need a significantly smaller amount of fuel, which will significantly reduce its consumption.

Heating with a gas boiler from a cylinder - the pros and cons

The main advantages of an autonomous heating system connected to balloon tanks:

 • fast and simplified connection;
 • no need to issue a launch permit;
 • the possibility of installation without project documentation;
 • independence from centralized systems fuel supply.

Along with the positive aspects, there are certain disadvantages:

 • the need to use a ramp to connect to the system;
 • the need for regular monitoring of the availability of "blue fuel";
 • increased costs for maintaining a comfortable temperature;
 • additional costs for re-equipment of the boiler;
 • involvement of specialists to combine tanks into a network and replace the burner.

Despite a number of shortcomings, gas heating of summer cottages with cylinders is alternative in the absence of centralized gas supply.

conclusions

Systems individual heating, powered by liquefied fuel, allow you to maintain comfortable temperature in any season. When deciding to switch to bottled gas, it is necessary to carefully analyze the pros and cons of this heating system. Using the services of specialists, you can safely connect and quickly put the equipment into operation.

Paradoxically, but in the modern world there is not yet a central gas pipeline everywhere. And people have to use wood or electricity to heat the premises. But there is another way - heating the house gas cylinders. It is a good alternative to solid fuel and electric heating in case of impossibility of connecting a private dwelling to the central gas pipeline.

Although heating with liquefied hydrocarbon gas propane or propane-butane is somewhat more expensive, in terms of its characteristics, such fuel practically does not differ from gas passing through the main. A gas stove for heating a house from a cylinder is often used in a private house or in a country house, in which the heated area does not exceed 100 sq.m. Consider the main features of balloon heating.

There are no direct prohibitions or restrictive measures for autonomous heating with gas cylinders in a private house. However, heating a home with liquefied gas from a cylinder is not always rational, since obtaining thermal energy in this way requires significant expenses.

Heating a house from a gas cylinder is beneficial only when:

 • heated area of premises up to 100 m2;
 • organization of good thermal insulation of the dwelling;
 • minimizing heat loss.

The arrangement of heating a private house with gas is carried out with conventional 50-liter cylinders of propane or butane, which are compressed to a liquid state.

In summer and winter, different mixtures of combustible substances are used:

 • SPBTL (flight combination);
 • SPBTZ (winter mix).

In winter, the tanks must be constantly monitored, as interruptions in the supply of fuel are possible due to the difference in the boiling points of the mixture components (propane -40 ° C, butane 0 ° C). As a result, at a temperature of, for example, -10°C, the pressure in the vessel will drop below the level required for the normal functioning of the system. Then the cylinder will have to be heated to at least 0 ° C, so that the butane begins to evaporate.

Attention! Cylinders that are in a private house in conditions of negative temperatures are strictly forbidden to be heated with a heating element or heating cables.

Advantages and disadvantages of balloon heating

Heating a private house with bottled gas has both advantages over other heating options and disadvantages.

First, we give the undeniable advantages of heating with liquefied gas:

 • high efficiency at significantly lower labor costs compared to solid fuel heating;
 • the ability to convert a gas boiler from a conventional cylinder to main equipment;
 • absolute autonomy and independence of the functioning of the balloon system;
 • long service life of equipment (15-25 years);
 • the presence of demand for cylinders in the secondary market - it is easy to sell containers if they are not needed.

In addition, cylinder heating allows you to heat water in a private house for domestic needs.

We also list the main disadvantages of such a heating system:

 • cylinders need to be refilled regularly, approximately every 2-3 weeks, which is inconvenient and costly;
 • with improper organization of the system, gas consumption increases significantly;
 • the need to create suitable conditions for storing containers.

Thus, the organization of a heating system on cylinders can be very dangerous if some operating conditions of the equipment are not observed. Therefore, vessels can be stored only in a ventilated room, under which there is no basement. It is best to place the cylinders in a separate building.

How to connect the cylinder to the boiler?

To assemble a heating system on gas cylinders, the following equipment is required:

 • gas boiler with a special burner for liquefied fuel;
 • gas cylinders;
 • reducers;
 • ramp for connecting several containers;
 • stop valves;
 • pipes and hoses to connect the system.

As a heat generator, as a rule, a gas boiler with a water circuit is used. Moreover, a special model of the boiler is not required, you can simply replace the burner or nozzles. The power of the heating device is selected in accordance with the area of the room, but the efficiency of the device should be as high as possible. An excellent choice would be a gas condensing boiler.

Attention! Install cylinders in the basement or basement forbidden. It is better to place them in a metal box with holes for ventilation.

Vessels can only be placed in a horizontal position. It is better to place a metal box on the north side of the site in a shaded place.

For the correct and efficient functioning of the boiler, it must be connected to 4-5 cylinders at the same time. To equip the gas pipeline, you will need a tube with a wall thickness of 2 mm or more. At the place of its installation, a sleeve is installed in the wall, the diameter of which is 20-30 mm larger than the cross section of the tube. The space between the sleeve and the pipe is filled with mounting foam.

Cylinders are connected to the system through a reducer, which converts the liquid back into a gaseous state. This can be done in two ways: one reducer for all vessels or one pressure regulator for each cylinder. The execution of the second option provides complete security, although it is more expensive.

In order to increase the interval for refilling containers, it is better to connect several vessels to the boiler at once through a ramp, which separates the cylinders into the main bundle and the spare. First, gas will come from the main group of tanks, and when the fuel runs out, the boiler will switch to a spare bundle. When the main link is updated, the heater will reconnect to the main group.

Attention! Observe the most important rule safety: it is forbidden to fill the cylinder with more than 80% of the volume, since the mixture of propane and butane has a high percentage of expansion, and when the volume is filled by more than 85%, there is a high probability of an explosion of the vessel.

When assembling and installing equipment, pipes and hoses, all connections, connectors and fittings must be checked for gas leakage using ordinary soaping.

Can the cylinder be replaced with a gas tank?

Instead of conventional cylinders of 50 liters, it is allowed to use a more capacious steel container for storing liquefied gas - a gas tank. The volume of some of these tanks is often enough for the entire heating season.

However, heating a home with liquid gas cylinders is considered to be more convenient, since it is much easier to deliver fuel in more compact vessels. In addition, for the gas tank, you need to perform a large amount of work on digging the site, which will result in additional financial investments.

At the same time, the use of a gas tank eliminates the need to simultaneously connect several containers at once, since one cylinder cannot provide sufficient evaporation for the normal operation of the boiler.

Reducer for pressure control

The pressure in the cylinders is constantly changing, and its value depends on many factors:

 • number of cylinders;
 • composition and temperature of the mixture;
 • liquefied gas residue;
 • distance of a group of vessels to the boiler.

The reducer is used in order to convert and maintain a stable gas pressure in the vapor state.

It is necessary to select a gearbox for a heating system based on two main characteristics:

 • performance;
 • operating pressure.

The rationality of heating a private house with gas cylinders depends on the fuel consumption of the boiler. Therefore, the performance of the gearbox should not be less than the injectivity of the heater.

The value of the working pressure of the reducer is also selected in accordance with the characteristics of the boiler equipment. If the pressure that the reducer produces is too high, the operation of the heater will be disrupted. The pressure regulator is made for 20, 30, 37, 42, 50 and 60 mbar.

When connecting vessels using flexible hoses, a reducer with a “herringbone” fitting is required. And when connecting cylinders using combs and rigid pipes, fittings with threaded outlets will be needed.

In addition to the main purpose, devices with automation are equipped with protective elements, which are triggered if the pressure rises to a critical level. Then the relief valve opens.

How much fuel is burned?

Heating a house, whose area is approximately 100m 2 with liquefied gas, can be done using a boiler with a capacity of 10 kW. In order to obtain 1 kW of thermal energy, it is necessary to consume 100-120 g / min of liquefied gas at 100% boiler load. If the cold period stretches up to 7 months, then the approximate estimated flow fuel for the whole season will be about 5 tons.

But in reality, the volume of expenses will be almost 2 times less, thanks to automation, which switches the equipment to economy mode when the air temperature in the rooms has reached the set value or guided by the timer settings.

If we compare the costs of heating a summer house or a private house from the main gas pipeline, then heating with liquefied gas is about 5-6 times more expensive. But nevertheless, ultimately cheaper than heating from electricity.

If we take into account the prices for gas in a liquefied state, then heating country house or giving with cylinders is not the worst alternative to electric and liquid fuel systems. Especially in cases where the region has problems with solid fuel or it is quite expensive.

Heating with liquefied gas is the most rational decision in the event that soon there are plans to gasify the settlement, due to the fact that then there is no need to purchase a boiler. In addition, there is an opportunity to practice handling a gas boiler.

How to store gas cylinders in winter?

In the case when the cylinders are located outside the house, then in winter time at a negative temperature, the pressure of liquefied gas drops, and the boiler can simply turn off. In order to avoid this, the cylinders must be installed in a special cabinet that is insulated with non-combustible materials and equipped with good ventilation.

For this purpose, detached non-residential buildings with a minimum level of heating are also well suited. During the operation of the cylinders, it is necessary to observe following rules safety precautions:

 • it is forbidden to warm gas containers with open fire;
 • a cellar or basement should not be located near the cylinders, due to the fact that during a leak the liquefied gas goes down, it has no smell and it can accumulate to an explosive concentration;
 • installation of a gas leak sensor is highly recommended;
 • storage of full cylinders is allowed at a distance of at least 10 meters from the living quarters;
 • it is forbidden to store empty cylinders in the house;
 • Once every 4 years, cylinders must be checked for tightness and integrity.

Thus, heating a house with gas cylinders is not a profitable way of heating. However, this perfect solution as a temporary measure until it is possible to connect to the central gas pipeline.
