Beautiful shelves with their own hands. Decorative and stylish shelves on the wall in the interior. What are the shelves

Wall shelves are able to harmoniously complement the design of the room. The range of their purpose is very wide. Depending on the location and application options, they choose the material for their manufacture and think over the design. What features should be taken into account before you start creating a wall shelf with your own hands, and what are the main stages of the process, let's get acquainted in detail.

Variety of wall structures

The main purpose of the wall shelf is to place a lot of small items, while organically combining the functions of storage and interior decoration. Depending on this, the option of installing a furniture structure is determined. There may be several of them:

  • The most common way of placement is to make a wall form, when the product is attached to the wall, at the bottom of which other pieces of furniture (sofa, bed or table) are often located.
  • A peculiar highlight among wall structures can be hinged shelf made by hand. The key difference lies in the method of fastening: instead of traditional brackets and loops, ropes, chains and straps are used.
  • Depending on the organization of the living space, from time to time there is a need to make a corner shelf. Moreover, in addition to the common way of using internal areas, sometimes they harmoniously use outer corner rooms.

A little imagination, and you can make a wall shelf design with your own hands in various variations. The following models are widely used:

  • The ease of manufacture with your own hands is distinguished by the console - a shelf fixed perpendicular to the wall.
  • If desired, the design is supplemented with side walls and the back is closed.
  • To create a kind of rack with your own hands, it is enough to combine several single consoles together.
  • Recently, combined specimens with an extraordinary arrangement of horizontal and vertical walls have gained wide popularity.
  • Numerous decorative models of wall shelves are original. Their main function is to create an exclusive design element in accordance with the chosen style.

Occasionally, the facade of a do-it-yourself structure is supplemented with glass. This is practical when storing items that do not have a decorative function. A small part of the designs of wall shelves that you can decorate with your own hands is shown in the drawings below:

The nuances of the choice of material in the design

No construction work is complete without a preliminary plan.

Remark ! Before you start designing a shelf with your own hands, you need to decide on the material for the base.

When choosing it, take into account the place where the furniture structure and its main functions will be installed. The scope of wall shelves is as follows:

  • Book lovers and students will definitely need bookshelves based on wood and its derivatives.
  • For storing jars of spices or decorative items in the kitchen (which are original plates or exclusive mugs), apply narrow shelves equipped with low sides. In this case, it is most appropriate to use wood for manufacturing, although, depending on the chosen design, glass specimens can also look harmonious.
  • The arrangement of the bathroom is not complete without the installation of glass shelves, complemented by chrome elements. This is due to the basic requirement for the material - it must have high level moisture resistance.
  • Universal shelves allow you to show your imagination with the choice of material during self-production. They are intended for setting flowers or various souvenirs, and the base is selected taking into account the overall design of the room. It could be a classic tree durable metal, complemented by forged elements or glass, creating the effect of lightness.

Mounting options

Mount type plays important role when designing a wall shelf structure. Having studied the options for fixing, it will be easier for you to determine the most suitable method.

Classic loops

The traditional fastening of wall shelves is the use of hinges. They are optimally suited for products made of wood and its derivatives. Important condition The material must be of sufficient thickness. The whole process takes place in several stages:

  • The hinges are fixed on the side of the furniture structure with self-tapping screws.
  • After measuring the distance between the holes, the required segment is marked on the wall.

Attention ! Compliance with the horizontal line is important point when fixing the wall shelf.

  • At the indicated point, holes of the required diameter are drilled, designed to insert the dowel.
  • A self-tapping screw with a neat hat is screwed into the clogged dowel, on which a shelf is hung.

Fixing glass shelves

The use of loops is not suitable for all materials. Installation of wall-mounted glass shelves is carried out using special fasteners for fragile items. Fasteners are made of two parts and are often supplemented with elastic gaskets, a glass shelf is inserted between them. The lower part of the device for reliable fixation of the wall structure is equipped with a clamping screw.

A common model for mounting a glass shelf is an instance called a pelican, capable of holding a wall structure with a thickness of 8 to 34 mm. In addition to glass, it can be used to fasten other materials with similar dimensions.

Concealed mounting and decorative brackets

Simplicity and originality concealed installation wall shelf. In this case, the fastener is completely masked. The essence of this method is as follows:

  • at the end of the wooden structure, a recess is prepared for the pin and the body of the fastener;
  • the mensol holder is fixed to the wall, after which a shelf is put on it.

Wall shelves with decorative brackets allow you to create an individual design of the room. They can be made in a production way or belong to exclusive copies. Photos of wall shelves decorated with hand-made brackets are presented below:

Manufacturing process

Depending on the chosen design and material, the process self-manufacturing wall shelf has its own characteristics.

Tree

If you want to make an original wooden wall shelf with your own hands, you will need:

  • Base material. In addition to natural wood, you can take MDF, chipboard or GVL, this will greatly facilitate the surface treatment process.
  • An electric jigsaw that can replace a hacksaw.
  • Drill and grinder.
  • Line with a pencil.
  • Building level.
  • Wood glue or liquid nails.
  • Lacquer or stain.
  • Brackets, dowels and screws.

The whole process of DIY wall shelf production is simple. After drawing up a plan or taking as a basis finished project, the dimensions of the structure are transferred to the material. Cutting wood base better with a jigsaw for a perfectly even cut.

All elements of the wooden shelf are carefully polished, in the presence of significant defects I use putty for wood. On initial stage need sandpaper number 40, get perfect smooth surface will allow sanding paper under Nos. 80 and 120.

Connect the parts of the wall structure liquid nails or wood glue.

Mounting marks are made on the shelf and wall. The brackets are connected to the shelf, and a recess is made in the wall with a drill, after which the dowels are inserted.

On final stage screws are screwed in and the wall shelf is suspended.

Glass

Rooms with a small area are best equipped with glass wall shelves that create an atmosphere of lightness and visually increase the space. If the experience of working with glass is not enough, it is better to turn to specialists who, at the same time as cutting fragile material, will perform high-quality processing of sections. The following steps for mounting a wall shelf are within the power of anyone who can hold a tool in their hands and are similar to the procedure for attaching a wooden structure:

  • Using the level, mark the attachment points on the wall.
  • The Pelican design needs two dowels.
  • After removing the decorative trim, you will find holes where you need to screw the fasteners.
  • The decorative overlay is put in place and the glass is inserted.
  • At the final stage, the screw is tightened.

This completes the installation of the glass wall structure.

Conclusion

A competent combination of a wall shelf with other details of the situation will create a harmonious design of the room, which is distinguished by individuality.

Making shelves with your own hands is probably the most favorite hobby home craftsmen. Beginners - because it is simple and useful on the farm; venerable - because it is possible, almost without taking away the useful volume of the room, to show creativity and give housing an individual look. And in our time, both of them - because the prices for finished products clearly do not correspond to their cost, although in general the budget is not nibbling to death. But why not save a significant amount by spending a day off?

In this article, we will consider options for making shelves that are quite functional, but, so to speak, of medium complexity and creativity. On the one hand, let's skip the side of the product like the one on the left in Fig. If you keep books like that, then it’s better to forget your diploma. True, then there are problems with the bank: they won’t give money, you need to sign there, read and enter pin codes. On the other hand, we will not touch shelves like the one in the center: it looks simple, elegant, but it requires high skill and the finest sense of material. And to describe - a lot and long. However, guided by what follows, you may well be able to build something like the one on the right. It's not bad, and it can do for nothing. And ready - from $ 300, of which obviously at least 90% for design and fiction.

Tool and technology

Making a shelf is a simple matter; presumably, you already know the basic information about furniture production technology. As for the shelves, only a few nuances can be given. Firstly, it is undesirable to use dowel connections: the material is too thin. If it is necessary that the fasteners were not visible at all, then under the dowel connections you need to take blanks from dense wood hardwood: oak, beech, birch, maple, elm, walnut.

Parts of shelves made of chipboard and ordinary commercial wood are best connected with modern furniture self-tapping bolts - confirmations, see fig. For the specified dimensions, the material does not crack at its thickness from 12 mm. If the thickness of the plate into which the confirmation is screwed is more than 20 mm, then it is better to take larger bolts, with D3 6-7 mm and the rest of the dimensions correspondingly increased.

Confirmates are produced for furniture, under wood, and under plastic, for plumbing. They are not interchangeable: furniture assembled on plumbing begins to settle rather quickly, and on “relatives” it lasts for years, and the bolt itself is gradually tightened as the wood dries out, unless, of course, it was originally damp. In appearance, the confirmations differ immediately: in the head of the furniture there is a socket for a hexagon, and they are offered, as a set and optionally, plugs inserted into it to match the wood. Plumbing confirmations are produced with a cross slot.

Parts made of ordinary building plywood, when joined with confirmations, often delaminate: a furniture bolt is designed for a homogeneous material. Therefore, it is preferable to assemble plywood shelves by inserting horizontal parts into the grooves selected in the sidewalls, for which you will need a special tool, see below. Assembly is carried out on glue (carpentry or PVA), and from the sides they are pulled together either with simple wood screws with a diameter, threaded, no more than 1/4 of the end thickness, or with studs / splinters on glue, see below, in the section on cardboard shelves. If self-tapping screws are used, they are wrapped until the head is sunk and the hole is covered with sawdust mixed with liquid nails.

Suddenly, the details intersect somewhere, i.e. the end falls on the end, all the methods described above are unsuitable. Therefore, when designing a shelf, you need to make sure that the face above the end is free. This rule is not burdensome: a little attention, and you can create a very complex container, like the one on the left in Fig. And if you want to make shelves on the wall like those in the center? Then the only aesthetically acceptable solution is a tie-in and glue, as can be clearly seen there on the right.

Shelves heavily loaded, e.g. to the workshop, garage or storage room, need to be reinforced with spacers and / or struts, pos. 1 and 2 on the next. rice. The same ones are suitable for living room if done carefully, pos. 3. For novice craftsmen, hanging shelves are more suitable, pos 4: they hold a large load, it takes a little work and skill, and it’s very possible to prove yourself in a product of your own hands.

Note: buying or sharpening spacers is optional. A metal pipe or rod from 8 mm will go under the tightening rod, and a plastic pipe of a larger diameter will go under the spacers themselves. For example, below in Fig. a big one in the garage, assembled on water and propylene pipes.

Glass shelves are hygienic and therefore widely used in everyday life; First of all, in places common use. However, it is possible to assemble them in residential premises, as temporary glass showcases, due to the risk of injury only in some cases, see below, and then if the glass is acrylic. Home glass shelves are glued with silicone glue, but not with building glue, but with aquarium glue; he holds the load is truly monstrous. Aquarium silicone is expensive, but its consumption is negligible: a 4 ml tube is enough for shelves for small bathroom, and still remain.

Aquarium silicone can be glued to glass and metal, for example. suspension loops, subject to careful preliminary degreasing of both parts. You can glue the shelf to the tiled lining: the dried colorless silicone is completely transparent. But aquarium silicone is soluble in vinegar and other organic acids, so for cleaning / washing, you need to use detergents with a neutral or alkaline reaction.

Note: dried silicone glue softens at a temperature of 105-140 degrees, therefore, in order to separate the connection, it must be heated with a household hair dryer “at full throttle”. Remains of glue are cut off with a safety razor blade; silicone does not eat into glass and metal.

Hang or Hang?

Hanging wall shelves in clips of ribbons or in the simplest way on ropes (see below), by design, is not always suitable. However, it is also wrong to install hinges for fasteners in the wall on the ends of horizontal layers, especially if they are made of layered materials: plywood, chipboard. The longer at the same time to take the self-tapping screws fixing the loop, the sooner the layer will delaminate. And in any case, the deflection of the leading edge of the shelf is inevitable.

Hanging shelves should be designed so that the hanging loops are located on the upper edges of the vertical ties that hold everything horizontal below them. An example of correct execution is shown in fig. When creating complex openwork shelves, in which there are no through horizontal connections, professional furniture makers often deviate from this rule, but then a full calculation of strength is necessary; preferably with computer simulation.

About shelves from plasterboard

More like a tribute to fashion. Plasterboard sheet (GKL) in a horizontal position does not hold the load at all, it sags under its own weight. Therefore, under the drywall shelves, firstly, you will need a rather complex and expensive frame made of special metal profiles, on the left in fig.

Secondly, it requires a lot of time, labor and money. final finishing. Capacity finished product as a result, it turns out to be disproportionately small relative to the volume it occupies, and appearance most of the time it's not good. If something like the one on the right in the figure is acceptable to you in the apartment, then the technology for manufacturing plasterboard shelves is, in principle, no different from that for a false ceiling, see at least:

Video: making drywall shelves with your own hands

Corner shelves

It happens that a place for a shelf made of wood falls on the corner. If it is external, there is nothing complicated: the faces at the corner are made triangular. In the inner corner, problems arise, firstly, accessibility, and secondly, strength, i.e. even distribution of loads. This does not apply to glass and metal: they are strong and homogeneous enough to “disperse” the loads in themselves.

  • The outer edges of the layers cut into the sidewalls into the spike at the corners.
  • The inner ones are reinforced both from the underside and from above with corners or wooden linings.
  • The facets at the corner are attached to the sidewalls in the same way, and their free access edge is convex outward.

An example of the correct execution of a corner shelf made of wood materials is shown in fig. on right. Of course, all the details do not have to be carved, this is a matter of taste and skill.

About facing

The ends of the shelves, at least the outer ones, almost always need to be covered with something. Most often they are trimmed - they are closed with a T-shaped flexible PVC profile, inserting his "stick" into the groove cut along the end. End profiles of different colors are sold in hardware and furniture stores, but in order to select the groove evenly, you will need a special tool, see below.

About the instrument

The manufacture of shelves with decorative qualities, in addition to the simplest materials at hand, as already mentioned, will require some special tools. It is better to rent it; except, perhaps, a jigsaw, it is not so expensive, and it will come in handy on the farm in many other cases.

And so, firstly, a jigsaw. Choose a model with a side-swivel support shoe, this will allow you to cut the ends with any desired slope. Secondly, a hand-held circular saw, small, like a hair clipper. It must be taken with an adjustable side stop. Then it will not be difficult for the last clumsy to choose a groove for the end profile: he set the emphasis on half the thickness of the face minus half the thickness of the saw blade, whack! - and you're done. And, finally, if the shelves are inserted into the grooves of the sidewalls, it is necessary manual cutter on wood with a set of cutting bodies of different widths. She can also choose the grooves for the tie-in, but here, with some skill, it is easy to get by with a jigsaw.

The shelves are coming!

Shoe

Perhaps the most popular of the home-made ones is a shelf for shoes, and no wonder: for durability and environmental friendliness, sellers of ready-made ones “wind up” without hesitation. The classic design of a plywood shoe rack is shown in fig. It was developed a long time ago, so that the connections in the sidewalls are shown as dowels; now it is better to replace the dowels with self-tapping screws to the tree (not confirmations, plywood!) As you can see, for its manufacture you will have to use all the tools and technological methods described above.

From more modern materials, for example. laminate, in the same way you can assemble a good-looking hanging shelf-cabinet, on the left to the next. rice. Laminate is available in thicknesses from 3 to 50 mm and practically does not sag under load, like plywood. For country house or cottages, where shoes get very wet and a lot of dirt sticks to them, a wooden lattice shelf is more suitable, in the center. The advantage of both over the "classics" is that the dirt under them is immediately visible and it is easy to remove it.

On the right in fig. - typesetting shoe rack for a family in a small apartment. You can do the same yourself from pieces of sheet plastic or acrylic glass and plastic connectors for temporary showcases. And finally, quite original version- a shelf for shoes from a piece of plastic pipe (see video below). In general, shelves for shoes are being invented to this day; the stumbling block is how to avoid the accumulation of dirt in the niches for couples.

Video: a simple pipe shoe rack

book

The second in demand is a bookshelf. There are at least 3 varieties here:

  1. Small common use.
  2. Universal (combined).
  3. Large, for a collection of books.

The first ones are most often hung in living rooms and kitchens. Then they put up on them, in the first case, magazines and entertaining reading; in the second - cookbooks, home canning guides, etc. Second place - in the bedroom, nursery school age, workshop. Load - reading for the coming dream, textbooks, reference books, technical publications. In addition, the shelf should hold and support, respectively, knick-knacks/souvenirs, toys with stationery, flower pots, small tool and favorite rubbish. For both, except for the shelf in the workshop, an additional requirement is that the appearance must match the design of the room.

The drawings of the first 2 are shown in fig. Left - general; on the right is universal. The first is wood. Its feature is beveled front ends, which, with appropriate painting, allows you to fit it into almost any interior. The thickness of the boards - from 30 mm; hidden loops for hanging are located at all corners and ends of the layers, i.e. you will need 8 of them in total.

Universal shelf - conventional design. It is made of laminate 16-24 mm, designed for connection with confirmations. The edges are edging. Suspension points - 3, on the upper outer corners.

A large-capacity book shelf for a private library is a special matter. First, weight. A collection of 2,000 volumes in hardcovers (and this is not a lot), weighs a ton. Then, size. It is impossible to predict in advance how many in folio, in quarto, in duodecimo, etc., will accumulate over the years. Making all the shelves under the largest volume - a lot of extra space will go away, and shoving rare editions at random is no good at all. Finally, order: books should be placed by subject, authors, and spines should be visible.

Based on this, it makes complete sense to move away from the strict conservatism inherent in bibliophiles, and make a large bookshelf with diagonally arranged cells, see fig. on right. Strength - the elephant will withstand, the consumption of material, the space occupied and the labor intensity are minimal, and 3-5 thousand volumes are all in sight without cataloging and file cabinets. Which, however, are still needed.

For flowers

No. 3 in the list of necessity and usefulness - shelves for flowers. Russia is slowly regaining its reputation as the most reading country in the world, but did you know that the Russians have always been and are among the most active indoor growers? Even ahead of the Dutch. There, at least, you will not see such a window with flowers in an ordinary city apartment, as in the figure.

Indoor lemons (Pavlovsk), cucumbers (Rytov), winter indoor grapes - this is not all that our lovers brought out of the outback. And without shelves here, of course, there is no way: the window sill is not enough, and there is little light in the back of the room.

However, begonias and other natives of dark tropical forests do not require much light, and they decorate the room well. Such plants have a common property: a sprawling rosette of leaves, so they are placed on floors to occupy smaller area. Shelves for specimens are attached to a sufficiently strong and stable "trunk" and spread somewhat to the sides so that the plants do not hang over one another and it is more convenient to take care of. How a floor shelf of this type is arranged is shown in fig. on right.

Note: begonias, tillandsias, etc. on such shelves grow better than anywhere else. Nothing mysterious - most of them are epiphytes, i.e. settle on the branches and trunks of large trees, without harming the latter. And here - something similar to the usual biotopes.

You can’t place many pots on a vertical flower shelf, on the one hand. On the other hand, most indoor plants and light need more. If you hang the entire window with horizontal shelves, then there will be little light in the room. The way out for flower growers has been known for a long time - window inclined shelves, whatnots, see fig. left. In addition to wood, they are also made on a frame of rigid steel stainless wire - “silver” or aluminum corner. Nowadays, shelves can be made of glass and glued to the frame with silicone. Then the actual shelves will almost not obscure the room.

What if there are many flowers? And there is enough light and warm, but not enough spacious room? For example, part of an insulated balcony converted into a mini-greenhouse? Here it is impossible to hang flowers on the window because the plants can catch a cold. Occupying the main wall is also not an option; orchids, for example, do not tolerate overhanging each other. Well, in this case, you should build a more impressive whatnot-"tree", see next. pic.right. It has a zest: by placing a low-power heater inside (an incandescent or infrared lamp for 25-75 W), we provide heating of the roots and, therefore, plant health. They will develop and bloom perfectly: in the rainforest it is quite cold at night, but the roots are heated due to the decomposition of the substrate, as in a greenhouse. In general, everything is like at home.

Those who are fond of flowers usually have a dacha. Therefore, speaking of flower shelves, one cannot bypass the shelves for seedlings. On the one hand, they are temporary, needed only in the spring. On the other hand, seedlings are not exotic, they cannot be overheated, but they need a lot of light. In the kitchen in the city, the sprouts will be hot.

If we are talking about 20-30 200-ml peat pots for our own needs, then a good solution is a vertical frame on the wall with lighting and glass shelves inserted into the grooves. 2 housekeepers for 18-24 W with a spectrum of 4100 K are enough for 20 pots. Place such a hanging rack (see the following figure) in a place with the most favorable temperature.

When it comes to hundreds of sprouts, you will have to use an already insulated balcony or veranda. In this case, the main task is to distribute the light equally to the plants; tender and beautiful-looking vegetative young growth actually fiercely competes in cramped conditions, and up to half of those deprived of light may disappear. Without too much difficulty, this problem is solved with the help of a shelf holder made according to the principle of an articulated parallelogram, see fig. below the list. Part designations:

  1. base;
  2. additional bar;
  3. shelf stand;
  4. longitudinal bar of the frame;
  5. shelf;
  6. transverse bar of the frame;
  7. compressive thrust.

About aquarium shelves

Aquarium and plant growing are similar hobbies. If only because without living plants, an aquarium is not an aquarium. However, any lover of water bodies with glass shores knows that the larger the aquarium, the easier it is to establish life in it. And one “pelvis” most often cannot be dispensed with: far from all species can be kept together, spawning, quarantine, etc. are needed. And then it turns out that all this economy either simply does not fit in an apartment, or the concentrated load on the floor exceeds the stipulated 250 kg / sq. m. Which can manifest itself as cracks and shedding of the ceiling from the neighbors below. Which, perhaps, only tolerate fish in a frying pan.

A proven design of aquarium shelves in a room is shown in fig. It is quite complicated: welded from a professional pipe 40x40x2 mm. But fully loaded (400 liters of water in aquariums, plus the rest, just under a ton), does not create problems in the old Khrushchev.

Icon cases

Religious fanaticism is not characteristic of Russia. Orthodoxy has never conceived or approved of anything like the inquisition, conquest or jihad. Nevertheless, any theologian will say that the Russians are basically a religious people. How much someone truly knows only the one in whom they believe. However, a shelf for icons, or an icon case, is an indispensable accessory for many, if not most, Russian dwellings.

Icon cases in most cases are made angular, on the left and right at the top in fig. So, on the one hand, the gospel principle of equality of all believers, except for one God, is observed. On the other hand, it is convenient to put candles. However, the Orthodox rank does not forbid even the icon cases are straight, on the lower right. In this case, the icon of Christ is placed in the center, the Virgin Mary on the left, and the saint revered in the house on the right.

When decorating an icon case, you need to be very careful and know what is appropriate and what is not. Openwork carving is suitable, but God forbid broken lines, as in arabesques, and / or intricately intertwined lines, as in Celtic patterns. In general, nothing resembling pagan. From living beings, a dove and a common symbol for all Christians - a fish - will certainly go. But there are no unicorns and other creatures deprived of goodness. However, the decorations of the icon case and barmas for icons are a separate big topic.

P note: among the Old Believers, it is customary to place each icon in a separate icon case (see the figure on the right) and hang the saints on the wall. It is not forbidden to keep icons like this and canonical Orthodoxy. However, when studying the drawings or considering a purchase, make sure that the cross is correct - among the Old Believers it is eight-pointed, and they call it a roof approved by the order of Nikonian.

bathroom

Shelves in the bathroom are, in general, 2 types: for toiletries with detergents and linen with towels. The first must be absolutely hygienic, and the second must be breathable. In the microclimate of public places, these requirements are difficult to combine, and compactness is added to both.

A shelf for soap, shampoo, gel, sponge, etc., as already mentioned, is best glued from glass with aquarium silicone approximately as shown on the left in fig. Aluminum or stainless steel suspension loops are glued with the same glue. Suddenly, when gluing, the glue squeezed out - do not fuss until everything is completely dry; drying rate - 2 mm / day. That is, for example, if the shelves are made of glass 6 mm, then the product must dry for at least 3 days. After drying, unnecessary sausages are simply and without residue cut off with a safety razor blade or a mounting knife.

The gluing procedure itself is also simple: one sidewall is laid on a flat surface covered with plastic wrap, a thin sausage of glue is applied, no thicker than 2-3 mm, the second sidewall is placed and supported with glass jars so that there is a right angle. It is not necessary to dry, press, load - the silicone itself will crawl into the slightest crack. By the way, on hands and clothes too, so be careful. Suddenly the hands are dirty, they are washed immediately warm water with vinegar, and then with soap. Fresh silicone can be removed from clothes with table vinegar, but if it grabs, then that's it. Yes, shelves can be glued into the square from the sidewalls after half the curing time of the initially applied glue, and the hinges are glued after the product is completely dry.

The easiest way to make a shelf for linen and towels is according to the branded model on the right in fig. But it’s simpler: they take pieces of a propylene pipe on horizontal supports, and a wire rod covered with a heat-shrinkable tube (HERE) on towel frames. Blind sockets are drilled under the supports in the wall, threaded collet anchors are inserted into them, into which threaded studs are screwed, and pipes are already put on them with a slight interference fit. Their gaping front ends are drowned out, at least with mounting foam or foam plugs.

Ropes, for the sake of hygiene, it is better not to pass through the holes, but circle around the supports with sea knots - bayonets, see fig. on right. Around the far one - double, and around the near one, so that you can pull it up - simple.

Note: many people think that sea knots are difficult to tie and impossible to untie (give away). This is not true, most marine knots are simple and reliable. Think about it, they were developed by people who needed to knit and give a knot on which the life of the entire team may have depended, hanging unsupported at a height, at night, in a storm, in blinding snow or pouring rain, and often wielding with only one hand . But sea knots are, again, a separate conversation.

The shelf in the toilet is different from the bathroom tray for toilet paper. Let's say right away that there is no point in doing it yourself, it's easier to buy. But for those who like to make everything, we will certainly give the profile of the tray ourselves, from which the roll does not roll out when winding both from above and from below, see fig. It can be bent from heated PVC sheet or plexiglass.

Under a roll with a diameter of 150 mm, say, American cool paper with portraits of presidents, heroes, Hollywood beauties, copies of dollar bills, etc. (from $6 to $30 per roll, by the way) the cage pitch is 10 mm. Under the usual, without perversions, Nashensky with a diameter of 90-110 mm - 7-8 mm.

Kitchen

There are already 3 types of shelves for the kitchen: general purpose, for plates, mostly expensive decorative ones, and bread. On the first they put a different difference, beating, waking up, spilling, and even, possibly, hot. In order not to fall on the head, the shelves are tilted inward, against the wall, by 2-3 degrees. You don’t need to make a side, you can in a hurry, as they say, hook onto the bottom of the dishes, with the same scandalous effect. Under the common kitchen shelf, most often they arrange a hanger for towels and rags, see fig.

Shelves for plates come from a time when porcelain and faience dishes were a symbol of prestige and were flaunted. Now they hold more decorative plates of an exclusive look, for example, gift plates with portraits and inscriptions, souvenirs, etc. The shelf for plates is made narrower, the inclination of the shelves inward is greater, 5-10 degrees, and they are also provided with crossbars that protect the dishes from falling out. The drawing is in fig.

Bread shelves, in which white, black bread and muffins can be kept together, are made open, exclusively from hardwood on dowels and wood glue or PVA. They hang it from higher, if only you could reach it with your hand, then the bread will be stored longer. Drawing - next. rice. The round piece of wood in this case did not hang, but the handle for which the shelf is removed, if you need to cut a lot at once.

Note: in fact, the main thing for kitchen shelves is not the design, but their placement. The basics of kitchen ergonomics are illustrated by the following. rice:

Hallway

A shelf in the hallway, if it is not for shoes, is similar to a general-purpose kitchen, with two differences. Firstly, the plates of the shelves are recruited from wooden slats or plastic pipes at intervals so that the hats laid on them are ventilated. Secondly, hooks for bags, umbrellas, etc. are attached to the sidewalls. As for clothing, it is hung on a hanger on a coat hanger. And in the hallway, if you have a bicycle, a shelf like the one in fig. And the steel, sorry, XXI century, carbon-fiber horse does not occupy the floor, and there is where to put a helmet, gloves, knee pads.

How about sooner?

Most of the shelves described above do not require any special qualities. Therefore, before moving on to specific ones, let's see if it is possible to get by somehow simpler, cheaper and, if possible, without special tools. That is, is it possible and how to make good, strong and durable shelves from improvised materials that clog a pantry or basement for nothing?

Note: creative shelves from something unnecessary, see the picture, let's leave it alone. For those who can do this, articles about shelves should not be read, but written. In wicker, for your information, fruits and vegetables are stored for a long time.

What material is the most at hand, the most seemingly unnecessary, but suitable for business? Packing cardboard: boxes from it should be stored until the warranty is over, and then what to do with them? So let's try to make cardboard shelves.

Cardboard crafts are not a curiosity, incl. and furniture. Lovers usually either gain a supporting frame, pos. 1 in Fig., paste over it and assemble the product from the resulting blocks, or simply glue more sheets to make it more or less strong, pos. 2, or a complex spatial structure with sufficient rigidity is assembled according to patterns, pos. 3. After puttying and painting, something looks quite decent, pos. 4.

We will go the other way. We, firstly, will process the cardboard to give it the initial additional strength; it is easy and inexpensive to do. Secondly, we will take into account the presence of corrugation in the packaging cardboard, i.e. stiffening ribs. And then we use the principle of the so-called. geodetic set of spatial structures. It may sound scary, but it is easy to do, and Fig. on right. It was with such damage that World War II aircraft with a geoset of the fuselage safely returned to base. As in the pilot's song of those years: "On parole and on one wing."

So processing. We lay a sheet of cardboard on a plastic film spread on the floor and brush it with a water-polymer emulsion or diluted 3-5 times clean water PVA. After a day, when it dries, turn over and process the other side. After drying, you can cut it out with a mounting knife and glue the plates with sidewalls.

The trick with geosetting is that the corrugations of the sheets that make up the part are oriented in a specific order:

  • Lower, 1st - along the longitudinal axis of the part.
  • 2nd - at 45 degrees to it in any direction.
  • 3rd - perpendicular to the 2nd, i.e. at 45 degrees from the longitudinal axis or corrugation of the 1st in the other direction.
  • 4th - perpendicular (orthogonal) to the 1st.

A 5-layer set will be even stronger: corrugations of the 1st and 5th layers - along the longitudinal axis, the 3rd, middle - orthogonally to them, and the 2nd and 4th - at 45 degrees in different directions. In this case, it will be easier to choose a groove for the edge (did you forget about edging?), It will have to be just on the corrugation of the 3rd layer, and not between the layers.

Note: layer blanks, of course, need to be cut with some allowance, so that later the part is cut exactly to size.

You need to glue the layers quickly, without waiting for the PVA to start setting. The glue is applied with a brush with rays from the center with a contour stroke (see the figure), then smeared over the entire plane, the next layer is applied, and so on. You need to glue on the underlay film. The glued workpiece is covered with the same film and slightly loaded. It is best to do this with books: the load will be absolutely uniform, and at the same time, the cardboard that is slightly sour from the glue will not be squeezed through. And what strength and rigidity the dried part will acquire - we will not paint, glue the piece and check.

Now we collect the parts into a whole. This is also done with glue at the ends. Only now you need to glue according to all the rules: wait for the gelatinization of the glue (its film will begin to turn yellow), press the parts tightly against each other and, without moving, load them with oppression or wrapping them with an elastic cord.

Left to back up end connections, because any adhesive joint does not hold shear loads well. There is nothing complicated here either: we use toothpicks or, better, pointed plastic sticks from ear swabs. For them, we take the glue "Moment", etc.

Nests for binding pins are pierced with an awl in increments of 40-70 mm. Then a drop of glue is alternately injected into each and a hairpin is stuck. They put the knot on the priest and dig the studs on top with glue. When dry, the knot is turned over and the reinforcement is continued until everything is ready.

If you have an old bamboo rod lying around, then it is better to dissolve it with a knife into splinters 3-5 mm wide and use them as studs. You need to saw the bamboo in knots, then the widening of the splinter-studs to the outer edge will give additional resistance to lateral loads.

Note: edging of ends is made after painting. Instead, you can paste over the ends with thin cardboard or thick paper, and paint everything together.

By sea

Another variant of shelves from something is shown in fig. Materials not quite junk: good boards and rope. But it can be done, including alignment, in half an hour. How is clear from Fig.

Curious belief

Lovers of black humor often knit loops for hanging at the lower ends of the ropes of such shelves. They are mostly superstitious people, so we remind you: the rope of a hanged man brings happiness only if a big villain was really hung on it. If the execution did not take place; say, a person sentenced at the last moment received a pardon, then an idle rope will bring great misfortune. In this case, it was supposed to be burned with a prayer against evil spirits, and it was supposed to be read by the same chaplain who confessed, communed and buried the condemned.

TV subtleties

Modern flat-panel TVs are conveniently hung from the wall on a swivel bracket, but it is no longer a shelf and not furniture at all. However, it's not about that. And about why "cool plasma" or LCD is being set up on pedestals, like the one on the left in the figure? Is it just for the sake of perverted taste? It would seem that something long should harmonize with the fruit of high technologies so that additional acoustics can be installed, with niches for a player, a satellite tuner and boxes for disks and cassettes, who still have them, along with a video recorder, and a completely technogenic appearance.

It's all about the acoustics. In the bass, at low frequencies up to 150-200 Hz. In modern speakers, the amplitude-frequency characteristic (AFC) by means of electronics, together with a large excess of amplifier power, is extended to the desired uniformity, but the laws of nature cannot be deceived, and the phase-frequency characteristic (PFC) inevitably curves. As a result, the bass is harsh. Pop boom-boom-boom is directed to this feature, but, say, on symphonic music or on Deep Purple from well-digitized DMM vinyl, the difference will be heard even by a person who has a bear in his ear. It is for the sake of a uniform PFC that connoisseurs prefer wooden acoustics closed type large volume or even open with acoustic impedance panels (PAS), and phase inverters and systems with control electronics are ignored.

Here, the seemingly exclusively utilitarian upper shelf niche can come into play, if it is made of coniferous tree(preferably spruce) and, like an open acoustic resonator, is tuned to approximately 63 Hz. The resonator captures the slightest trembling on the bottoms of the TV itself, since its case is plastic, and gives the bass juice and softness. Not up to lamp velvet, but still more pleasant to listen to. So connoisseurs are looking for old shabby chests of drawers with suitable niches and decently pay for them, and even more for restoration.

And we will not spend money on antiques. On the right in fig. with a TV - a drawing of an acoustic shelf for a TV; dimensions - in cm. Material, as already mentioned, spruce or pine. The tree must be seasoned, straight-grained, without twists and knots. Equipment and media will fit in the lower niche, but the upper one should be left free to heighten the effect. It is assembled on dowels and PVA. The back wall of the lower niche can be with windows for cables, but the upper one is necessarily deaf.

instrumental

The tool shelf is primarily not a shelf, but a cabinet: more or less experienced master the tool does not hold in bulk, but hangs it on hooks or in clamps, as shown in fig. on right. Second: quality material- plywood 10-16 mm, impregnated with a water-polymer emulsion or dense hardwood, also impregnated or proliferated. Impregnation is needed from hygroscopicity so that the tool does not rust and does not lose accuracy.

A simple alternative to a locker is in the video below.

Video: tool shelves made from pipe scraps

Children's

The fact that a shelf for children should be strong enough and environmentally friendly is an axiom. So here the best material is seasoned natural wood or MDF. Wood materials with impregnation (OSB, chipboard) are not suitable, who knows if the manufacturer is telling the truth that without phenolic compounds. Fresh wood is also undesirable; allergies are possible from its fumes.

There is one more circumstance: the shelf in the nursery should take into account the peculiarities of child psychology. The point here is not in tests-conversations, but in the fact that the neural connections in his brain have not yet developed. And if they develop incorrectly, then it will be useless to explain and persuade. Therefore, the design of the children's shelf is the first thing.

For example, the one on the left in the figure seems to be holding objects well, but it looks like a prison is a prison. The bunny simply shouts to an adult: “Let me out of here!” And he stretched out his paw pleadingly. And what about a child who perceives toys as creatures close to him?

The remaining 2 contribute to the development of carelessness. Connections between brain neurons are formed not by some abstract ideas, but by information coming from the sense organs. Over 80% of it comes from sight. And if everything is slanting and flickering before your eyes, then porridge will be kneaded in the brains.

So, the main requirement for the design of a children's shelf is simple shapes, soft colors, matte texture. The fact that you can not hang mirrors and in general everything shiny is well known.

In shelves for toys, gender differences must also be taken into account, which the children themselves may not yet be aware of. For example, a boy without a ball is not a boy. Yes, even cars, airplanes, steam locomotives. These things, from his point of view, are valuable in themselves. By analogy: Audi is Audi, and "Zaporozhets" is "Zaporozhets" in any garage. So he needs a shelf for toys rather in the form of trays, so long as the contents are at hand, do not fall on the floor and are not lost, on the left in fig.

Any girl is first of all a woman and a mistress. Both for her and for her toys, it is important not only how they look, but also in what environment they are. Conclusion: it is better to make shelves for girl's dolls and utensils in the form of a house, on the right there. Remember, for children, toys are not toys, but their own little world. So dolls also need a home with a boudoir.

And more about originality.

Shelves, as mentioned at the beginning, are easier to make than any other furniture. There is a great temptation to be original, since there are more than enough stunning creations of famous designers. However, we must not forget that the main thing is functionality. The designer differs from the amateur in that, while inventing the first, he constantly keeps the second in mind. Let's look at examples of what is wrong and right. original shelves.

Let's say pos. 1 in fig. You do what you want, but I won’t drink wine from a bottle where sediment accumulates in the neck. Bottles of wine are stored in a horizontal position, everyone knows this. By the way, a mini-wine cellar in an apartment is easy to make from cardboard pipes on PVA, see the figure on the right.

Now pos. 2. Formally, everything seems to be correct, but you will get confused in this maze. Pos. 3 - natural branches, this is certainly cool, but then the overall style needs to be appropriate. And so - a knot in the eye, and nothing more. Pos. 4 - God bless him that you can’t put anything on inclined sections. Perhaps the owners have 100 squares per person. But are they sure that their cat knows how to handle books? Why, in this case, not immediately put a saucer of valerian next to them? Pos. 5 - so it will fall down. And, according to the law of meanness, just on the face and just when something is poured in the flasks.

On the trail. rice. – examples good decisions. Pos. 1 - the effect is given not only by rounded shapes. Without going into subtleties, the thing is in the clock. They are also round and hang where necessary. In the center - it would be acceptable, but not quite right. Complete symmetry is boring. Pos. 2 - it is immediately clear to a more or less developed person that this is a tree. With all the resulting associative structure. But, in the words of Georgy Vitsin (the smartest, thinnest and non-drinking person, by the way) as a Coward from the "Prisoner of the Caucasus", without "bad excesses." Simple and tasteful.

Pos. 3 is a masterpiece. Just a skillful painting of the most utilitarian thing, and the shelves became invisible. This, one might say, is the pinnacle of originality. Pos. 4 - associations are obvious, but elegant and understandable, flowers on a tree. And the effect is no weaker because the flowers in this case are Uzambar violets, which are not epiphytes at all. And since the effect of racks, then this is luck. Pos. 5 - originality was forced to work. Specifically, there are many flowers, but they take up little space and almost do not obscure the light. To achieve this, fine work is also needed; First of all, mental.

For many, wall shelves are a favorite decor. interior decoration Houses. The original form, books with colorful covers, beautiful dishes, souvenirs - almost everything that your imagination tells you can become a stylish accent in the interior design of the room. In addition, it is not at all necessary to buy them, because it is not very difficult to make a creative shelf on the wall with your own hands, even for those who are not very strong in carpentry.

Do-it-yourself shelf in the form of honeycombs

A nice shelf made in the form of honeycombs can be a cool addition to a non-standard interior. A fashionable design is formed from hexagonal modules creating original geometric compositions. Everyone can arrange the blocks in the best option for themselves.

Despite the non-standard appearance, hexagonal blocks are quite convenient and functional, and besides, they are the most durable and stable.

To make such a shelf with your own hands, you will need a standard set of tools and simple blanks from rectangular boards. You can assemble a structure from ready-made honeycombs in different ways:

shelf on the wall with your own hands. Photo

The second option is undoubtedly more practical, since dust will not accumulate between the individual elements.

Let's see how to make a shelf in the form of honeycombs in practice

To get the right hexagon, boards for future construction pruned at an angle of 30°.

Check again if they are the same size, proceed to assembly hexagons. Better to do it on the floor.

The block elements perfectly match one another and begin stick together boards using wood glue.

Attachment points for reliability amplify using L-shaped holders or screws. The brackets can be hidden by painting them the same color as the shelf.

Do the rest of the cells in the same way.

Finished modules carefully polished, then covered with stain and special varnish or painted. The shelf will look unusual if the honeycombs are painted in different colors.

It remains to add up ready blocks side by side and drill one or two holes at the joints and twist them together.

DIY round shelf

The round shape of the shelf is unusual and stylish solution for those who do not particularly care how to place more things on it and save space in this way. It is easy to make such a shelf with your own hands. Success will be predetermined if you choose the right source material for the shelf and correctly calculate the dimensions of the parts.

Most available material, which is both strong enough and bends easily - this fiberboard sheet. Two strips of estimated length (l) are cut out of it. At the same time, a board of the desired length is also prepared as a central shelf. Obviously, all these parts should have the same width. Now about the length of the strips.

DIY bookcase. Photo

From the point of view of geometry, the central shelf is the diameter (d) of the outer contour of the future circle, and the stripes, respectively, are half the length of the contour, so they depend on each other and are interconnected by the formula - l=3.14 x d/2.

Let's say the dimensions of the board are 150 by 700 mm, then the length of the semicircle will be 3.14x700 / 2, that is, 1100 mm. Now let's calculate the length of the fiberboard strips, taking into account their overlap, say, 70 mm: 1100 + 2x70 = 1240 mm.

Now let's figure out how to make a shelf with your own hands using a fiberboard sheet.

Stepping back from the end sides by the amount of overlap, apply to the strips markup. Then proceed to form a circle.

The edges of the strips are pointed at each other according to the markings and fixed with clamps. Carefully, so that the material does not burst, the strips are slowly bent, overlapping the free edges on each other.

Before finally fixing all the parts with screws, you need to make sure that they are correctly fitted:

The do-it-yourself shelf is almost ready. It remains to finish it: cover by paint, varnish or other decorative composition. They hang it through the furniture eyes on screws screwed into the wall.

DIY hanging shelves

When choosing an interior for a small apartment, many are wondering if it is possible to make a compact bookshelf with your own hands so that it does not take up much space. One of options- suspension structure.

To get started you need

The work is carried out in two stages: shelves and fastenings.

Prepare shelves, sawn to size.

Along their edges, holes of the same size must be provided.

hanging shelves with your own hands. Photo instruction

The template is pressed against the board from the edge, say, with the help of clamps, and make two holes, but not to the end - approximately to the middle of the thickness of the shelf.

Shelves handle sandpaper and separate. For example, you can paint in a suitable design color.

The shelves are completely ready, it remains to hang them. Reliability in this case, given the impressive weight of the books, is no less important than aesthetics, so it is best to hang the structure cable.

It is cut into pieces in size and, using clamping clips, a loop is made at one end.

They are suspended and fixed along the entire length with the desired step. kegs.

Hooks with screws are attached strictly perpendicular to the wall, on which cables are hung, and already suspended shelves are attached to them.

Do-it-yourself hanging shelf-shelf

A charming hanging shelf in the kitchen with your own hands will allow you to rationally use the space. It will look great in the colonial living room, in the children's room in nautical style or a Mediterranean bath. Anyone can cope with such work, since you can make a shelf with your own hands in just a few simple steps.

how to make a shelf with your own hands. Master Class

blanks from a tree align both in shape and in size.

Mark places under holes and make them with a drill pen drill. In order to avoid problems in the future, the diameter of the drill is chosen large diameter ropes for which the whatnot will be suspended.

Markup is easier to do pattern in the form of a 4x4 square cut out of paper. The template must be applied to the corner of the board and markup is made at the point of intersection of the diagonals of the square.

coloring boards.

There are many ways to make a shelf more interesting. You just need to show a little imagination, for example, paint it only from the ends.

Now the design can gather. The rope is folded in half and, stepping back about 30 cm, a knot is tied on each half. The ends are pulled through the holes on one side of the board and secured with another knot. The plank is thus fixed motionless between the two nodes. The process is repeated with each shelf, arranged with the desired step.

Do the same with the other side. The main thing that nodes on both sides are located at the same distance from each other.

The remaining free ends of the ropes are cut and unraveled to form brushes.

It remains to hang the finished bookcase on the wall.

Such a do-it-yourself shelf has several advantages:

DIY hanging shelves for photos

Is it possible and, most importantly, how to make a shelf on the wall so that it takes up very little space, and you can store a sufficient number of photos, albums, record collections and more there? Well, let's figure out how to make a shelf with your own hands so that it has a minimum depth.

This shelf actually represents several lath tied together with a rope. A bar is attached to them, which prevents photos, books, etc. from slipping off the shelf. In principle, there can be as many rails as you need, so first you need to decide on their location and number. So it will be much easier to calculate the width of the shelves and file blanks.

After the blanks skinned, planks are attached to the rails: they can be nailed or glued. The nail heads are carefully hidden under a layer of special putty, and the bar is sanded again.

Stepping back from the edges by 2 cm, two holes are drilled in the shelf with a diameter slightly larger than that of the rope.

From each end of the first shelf stretch rope, tightening the knot at the ends.

It will be much easier to do this if you wrap the threaded edge of the rope with tape or, say, electrical tape.

Put on a second shelf.

The process is repeated until all are installed.

The free ends of the ropes are tied to screws with hooks screwed in at the correct height. This is perhaps the most crucial moment, since the bottom shelf should be located strictly horizontally, and all the rest will be aligned along it.

Horizontalness is checked by level, nevertheless it is useful

and there will be someone's help., because even knowing exactly how to make a shelf, it will be difficult for one to complete the last stage.

Christmas tree book shelf

Longer delay the incomparable Christmas mood DIY creative bookshelf will help. Instead of garlands and toys, it is decorated with books and various cute little things. Such Christmas tree shelves are especially to the liking of the kids.

This shelf can be made from ordinary plywood sheet.

First you need to prepare a small layout plan all details on a sheet of paper on a scale corresponding to the size of plywood with an indication of their dimensions.

Then you need to transfer everything to plywood in the original size and after carefully checking the location and dimensions of the parts cut them with a saw or jigsaw.

The Christmas tree is assembled on carpentry glue and fixed with nails.

When the workpiece dries, it is covered paint and give it time to dry completely.

The tree shelf is ready to use. Under New Year you can decorate it to your liking and even put gifts on the branches-shelves.

Here's how a DIY shelf can help bring joy to loved ones.

Do-it-yourself shelf-rack

The functional and minimalistic industrial style is very popular today. A do-it-yourself shelf assembled on pipes will bring to your home the very industrial chic that you may be striving for.

Since the number of shelves, as well as the total length of the pipes, is easily adjustable, let's dwell on the general scheme for the manufacture of this designer furniture.

Work begins with the preparation of shelves from wood. They are applied with a special oil or wax to get a smooth textured surface.

It would be nice if the shelves initially had an interesting texture.

If you cover the shelves more and polyurethane varnish on water based they will still acquire a magnificent radiance.

After allowing the structure to dry, in each corner of the lower shelf, round flanges about 2 cm from the edge.

The location of the connecting parts is marked with a pencil.

The shelves are stacked and clamped with clamps.

A pilot hole is drilled through the center of the flange through the first and second flanges. For the next boards in order, the size of the drill needs to be changed to a larger one, since pipes will pass through them in the future.

Start assembling.

Each flange is placed on the bottom shelf above the pilot hole and fixed to the surface.

Insert into holes galvanized pipesdesired length threaded at both ends and tighten in the flange with a wrench. A coupling is installed in the upper part.

When all the parts are mounted, flanges are screwed to the tops of the pipes and fixed to the top shelf.

The finished shelf can be made mobile if you install wheels on the bottom board.

The headset will be more stable if you attach it to the wall with special studs or install an L-shaped bracket.

Do-it-yourself kitchen shelf

Men will probably never understand why the housewives do not have enough shelves in the kitchen, but few will deny themselves the pleasure of surprising her with a simple but functional shelf in the kitchen with their own hands.

It is quite easy to make it. Need to make two boards, preferably from hard rock the same length. One of them will be installed horizontally for various utensils, and the other vertically. It will be fitted with wooden pegs on which you can hang cups, potholders and more. Board widths may vary slightly.

On a plate for cups mark out places for perches. It is better to apply the markings symmetrically, then the extreme ones will be at an equal distance from the edges of the plank.

Following the markup, drill holes corresponding to the diameter of the pole.

Using a jig, this is a special drilling tool, you can make several holes to connect both planks. In extreme cases, you can also use a countersink, then the recesses under the screw heads will need to be hidden with plugs.

wooden pole polished sandpaper and sawn into equal parts.

The holes for the perches are lubricated from the inside with carpentry glue and inserted pegs. They should perform the same. Excess adhesive mass is wiped off with a napkin.

If the pegs are very tight, you can use hammer.

Glued to their end circles either plywood or wood. Do the same with excess glue.

The shelf is generally ready, it remains polish fine emery and take care of the appearance: process wood stain and varnish or paint.

Two holes are drilled in the vertical board of the shelves, through which the shelf will be fixed to the wall with screws. The places for the heads of the screws are countersinked, and they themselves are closed with decorative plugs.

When installing shelves use a level.

Do-it-yourself plexiglass shelf

Such a shelf looks very light, without loading the interior with anything. Do-it-yourself transparent shelf is made from a strip plexiglass of a given size, which is installed on the original support of beads.

It is more convenient to cut it out of a sheet when buying immediately in a store.

Screws are selected on the basis that the diameter of its head must exceed the hole of the bead. If this is a problem, a washer can be used.

Beads before installation you need paint gold spray paint.

Paint the wooden beads with gold spray paint.

In the wall drilled pilot holes.

Six beads are put on the screw, screwed into the wall and leveled. The same is repeated with the second. For a concrete wall, dowels are used, in the case of a frame wall, the screws must enter the wooden racks.

A plexiglass plate is placed on the resulting supports.

The shelf thickness of 1.2 cm provides sufficient rigidity, but not so much as to lay out heavy objects on it.

Do-it-yourself hanging shelf on belts

To make such a design is extremely simple.

Need to prepare board a convenient size and sand the surfaces of all edges with sandpaper.

If the texture of the wood is not expressive enough and you would like to hide it, you can paint.

From two identical belts buckles are removed from leather (textile), as well as all other metal parts.

At the ends of each of them drill holes small diameter.

The belts are folded in half so that a a loop. They are fixed on the wall, positioned from each other at a distance slightly less than the length of the plank.

The board is inserted into the hinges and leveled so that it is parallel to the floor.

If you want to fix the board more securely, you can additionally fix the belt with a few screws from the bottom side.

Shelf of construction pallets

Times change, tastes change. Today, many are trying to use industrial decor in their homes, replacing elegant pieces of furniture with deliberately rough ones. Individual elements can be made independently, for example, a do-it-yourself shelf from wooden construction pallets.

For one bookcase, you need to disassemble two pallets. The result is:

The following parts are sawn from this material and polished either with sandpaper or with a special nozzle on a drill:

Boards: Quantity - Dimensions (mm)

  • 4 - 640x145
  • 2 - 680x145
  • 2 - 840x145
  • 2 - 290x145
  • 2 - 640x100
  • 2 - 840x100
  • 2 - 290x50

Checkers: quantity - dimensions (mm)

The shelf is assembled in the following order:

For the base take two narrow boards 640x100 each and fasten along the edges of the checkers. Wide 290x145 are attached to the checkers perpendicular to the narrow boards, aligning them on equal sides.

To the end grounds two boards are fixed vertically with self-tapping screws: narrow (840x100) and wide (840x145). Repeat the same operation with the opposite end of the base.

Finishing up box future whatnot, fixing two on top wide boards(680x145). To avoid cracking the wood, you can pre-drill holes in them with a thin drill.

Then two wide boards (640x145) are attached to the base. The bottom shelf is ready.

For the rest of the shelves you will need support bars. To do this, the narrowest boards (290x50) are attached at the desired height.

The remaining boards measuring 640x145 are attached to the installed planks. It is advisable to fix them with screws and from the ends. This will give the structure durability and greater reliability.

The resulting bookcase can be used as a rack for your favorite things, and as a shelf for shoes with your own hands.

DIY painting shelf

You won’t believe it, but you can make an unusual original shelf on the wall for your favorite picture yourself, and from a simple set that you can buy at any supermarket.

Creating this masterpiece will greatly simplify Dremel 300- multifunctional tool with a large number of high-quality attachments and milling machine Dremel 231. The point is this: in order for the picture to slide off the shelf, a groove must be made on its surface.

Boards are laid on milling table and turn upside down, mark the cut line for groove and with the help of guides on milling table set the desired depth for it.

Perform a groove.

Wooden wall shelf paint desired color and allowed to dry.

Attached to her holders and strictly horizontally attached to the wall. The direction is regulated using the building level.

Do-it-yourself children's shelf in the form of a horse

From several wooden boards, you can create a fun bookshelf where your little one will happily store their books.

In a few hours, the miracle shelf will be ready for use.

Shelf-shelf

Here are two bookcase ideas that you can easily make yourself.

The first of the 40 mm edged board is extremely simple. Bookcase assembled:

The height and width of the structure are arbitrary and are selected locally. If desired, the bookcase can be fixed in the upper part, and rubber heels can be stuffed along the bottom of the boards.

Second - S - figurative. For manufacturing, you can use trimming boards, plywood or chipboard. For one section of the structure, 16 rectangular blanks are needed, for example, 300x150 mm.

blanks set in a certain order, at each stage three.

The first workpiece is placed on the floor. A second one is attached to it at a right angle, joining them in width on the left. The third in width is joined with the first along its length, starting from the far right corner.

The fourth, fifth, sixth - are assembled symmetrically, exactly the opposite.

It is very simple to check how correctly the figure has developed: the second, third and fourth boards should form the letter S.

Experienced craftsmen advise first to assemble the design in rough on wooden pins and fit the blanks, and when disassembling, number the parts from the end.

Every detail then sanded sandpaper and begin to collect them, according to the numbering. PVA glue is applied to the joint lines and grooves and tightly clamped, holding in this state for some time.

The assembled bookcase is varnished or painted.

DIY shoe rack

The main problem for the hallway at all times is shoes. How to deal with the perpetrators of the riots, and do it as economically as possible? The best solution is to make a shoe rack with your own hands.

Let's share some interesting ideas.

From plywood. More often they make a modular whatnot, which is attached to the wall and saves space. Using a jigsaw, plywood is cut into identical rectangular planks, then gently sanded. U-shaped structures are assembled from parts and “invested” one into the other, forming a structure resembling a labyrinth.

From tree. From a wooden board cut blanks with a width of 250-350 mm and a thickness of about 20 mm. The next steps are:
