Design of a small bathroom - ideas with a photo. Modern bathroom - we make out an exclusive and stylish design in the bathroom (120 photo ideas) Modern bathtubs in the apartment

What should be the bathroom? First of all - comfortable and functional, so that on small area Everything you need was comfortably placed. Competent layout promotes relaxation after a busy day and saves time in the morning when you need to quickly get ready or freshen up. And the bathroom should look attractive, be stylish, meet current fashion trends. Interior design plays a very significant role, because with the help of decoration you can profitably zone the room, smooth out or emphasize the features of the layout, make the bathroom truly exclusive. Consider what a modern bathroom design can be like.

basis modern design is a combination of innovative technologies with aesthetics and ecology. There should not be anything superfluous in the interior, each attribute has a specific purpose and all the elements of the decor are in perfect harmony with each other. The key aspect is saving water and energy, because the bathroom in any house is actively used by households, and water consumption is the highest here.

Preference is given to multifunctional plumbing devices of a compact size, which makes it possible to rationally use a small area of the room and make staying in it as comfortable as possible. Eco-friendly materials, soft lighting, laconic decor - all this allows you to create a fresh image of a modern bathroom. When arranging the interior, designers use a variety of techniques to visual magnification spaces, thanks to which even a tiny bathroom seems larger and brighter.

The most current trends:

  • combination of artificial and natural materials;
  • a combination of different textures - smooth with embossed, matte with glossy;
  • use of 3D surfaces in decoration;
  • active use of glass surfaces and mirrors;
  • installation of plumbing and sanitary fittings of non-standard design;
  • a combination of smooth flowing shapes and strict geometric shapes in one interior;
  • saving usable space due to hidden installation of engineering systems and suspended plumbing;
  • restrained colors, the use of natural shades;
  • the predominance of light colors in the decoration and dark accents;
  • original, creative lighting devices and accessories;
  • mixing elements of different stylistic directions;
  • the presence of living plants in the bathroom;
  • use in facing tiles of a hexagonal shape and with a geometric pattern.

To transform your bathroom, you should study in more detail the basic principles of combining colors and materials, the rules for selecting accessories and plumbing.

Finishing materials

Tile is still the most popular type of finish for the bathroom, but it is far from the classic cladding that everyone is used to seeing in such rooms. Designers recommend combining medium and large rectangular tiles with ceramic and glass mosaic, as well as small textured tiles.

Large tiles with stone imitation are in great demand, and not only the floor, but also the walls are lined with it. A hexagonal tile is laid in the same way - a continuous transition from vertical plane horizontally makes the room more attractive with a minimalist design.

bathroom stone effect tiles

Also successful is the combination of stone cladding on the floor with imitation brickwork on the walls, combining ceramics with smooth concrete walls. Marble imitation is the best way to add luxury and elegance to the interior. It can be full or partial cladding of the room, as well as marble countertops, sinks and bathtubs.

Advice. It is very important not to overdo it here: if the walls and floor are made of marble, then the furnishings, plumbing should be plain, white is best. If you plan to install a marble countertop or bath, the walls should be plain, or at least with a less expressive pattern. Otherwise, all surfaces will merge, which visually reduces the area of \u200b\u200bthe room.

To dilute the restraint and a certain coldness of such a design help wooden elements in finishing. As a rule, these are wooden furniture and accessories, such as mirror frames. Expensive projects use wooden tubs, sinks, shower trays and shower panels. Of course, all wood undergoes a special water-repellent treatment, which allows you to safely use it in conditions of high humidity.

With a limited budget, natural wood will perfectly replace its imitation. Plastic panels and “wood-like” tiles look no less impressive if you choose the right shade and texture of the material. Floor tiles allows you to create an exact imitation of a boardwalk or parquet board which gives the interior a cozy and at the same time solid look. Imitation wall tiles wooden lining Perfectly harmonizes with stone veneer, especially dark colors.

No modern design project is complete without glass and mirrors. Transparent partitions, shelves, bookcases seem almost weightless, as if they dissolve in the interior, although they perfectly perform their functions. Large mirrors and other reflective surfaces visually expand the space, which is especially true for small rooms. Glass is perfectly combined with any materials, so there are no special requirements or restrictions.

Color spectrum

When designing a modern interior, preference is given to pure natural shades. A bright bathroom is in trend: a snow-white finish can be combined with beige, sand, light gray and any pastel colors. At the same time, designers recommend avoiding monochrome design, in which all surfaces merge, the shape of the room is lost and the bathroom looks rather dull.

Be sure to use dark or color accents in the interior: for example, light walls favorably set off chocolate-colored cabinets and countertops, dark gray accessories look good on a white or beige background. If the walls and furnishings are white, then the floor is best made dark - an earthy or graphite shade. Conversely, when using dark cladding, plumbing and furniture should be chosen in white, otherwise the room will look too gloomy.

The current trend is now black and white contrasts in the interior. The combination of snow-white cladding with black or graphite accessories, furniture, plumbing gives the room an original look and some dynamism. Black inserts in wall decoration look spectacular, especially with a geometric pattern. Here you can combine classic tiles with hexagonal or textured tiles.

Color accents are also relevant, because they create a mood, make the interior more interesting and colorful. It is allowed to use bright colors - red, green, orange, but only on condition that the main background is neutral. You can tile one of the walls with bright tiles or install colored plumbing, the main thing is that a neutral color prevails, otherwise the interior will turn out to be too bright and oversaturated. Also, you can not use more than three different colors to avoid fussiness.

Plumbing

To make the bathroom look stylish and modern, when choosing plumbing, you should give preference to products original form yet practical and safe. Free-standing bathtubs with high sides look very impressive. Such models, with good capacity, are distinguished by a certain elegance, smooth lines, and fit perfectly into any interior.

Even more diverse are the washbasins: oval, rectangular, round, asymmetrical, overhead and recessed – you can easily choose an option for any style of bathroom.

But modern faucets are the most creative. These are no longer banal faucets with valves, but real works of art that combine elegance, reliability and high functionality. Designer faucets are complex structures in which metal is combined with natural clay and wood.

As for the type of plumbing according to the method of installation, the most relevant here are wall hung toilets and sinks, the same applies to cabinets. Such models facilitate cleaning and save usable space, and the absence of visible communications gives the interior a more aesthetic appearance. And in terms of design, console bidets, toilet bowls and sinks significantly benefit compared to classic plumbing.

Floor tiling with hexagonal tiles

The most popular way to transform a bathroom is to install new tiles, such as hexagon tiles. Such cladding is now in trend, and many designers are happy to use it in their projects.

The laying technology has some nuances due to the geometric shape of the material, but in general, there is nothing complicated here. The main thing is to choose the right tile according to color and pattern, because the range of such products is quite wide.

Table. Popular hexagon tile collections

Collection nameDescription
The material is porcelain stoneware, dimensions 40x34.6 cm. Antique tiles with a matte surface. Features an unobtrusive floral pattern and warm tones. This cladding is perfect for a modern design bathroom with retro or country elements.
The minimum dimensions are 14x28 cm, the maximum - 80x80 cm. The tile has a matte and partially polished surface, a bright geometric pattern in the form of an imitation of several hexagons in one. Can be used for wall and floor cladding. The design of the tile is most suitable for an industrial and minimalist bathroom.
Design tiles with a contrasting black and white pattern, 15x17 cm in size. This flooring is most effectively combined with concrete walls, imitation of rough brickwork and wood. Laying can be done randomly or in a certain order - to create an ornament or a finished pattern
Hexagonal tile with embossed pattern. Dimensions 17x15 cm, available in white and black, with a satin finish. The collection includes several pattern options that can be mixed or stacked separately.
Tiles with a smooth glossy and satin surface without a pattern, minimum size 6.5x7.5 cm, maximum 15x17 cm. In addition to black and white tiles, the collection includes color options, which allows you to create unique design bathroom

You need to buy tiles with a margin of at least 15% of the total, because, unlike the standard rectangular one, it will not work to lay a hexagonal tile without trimming close to the wall. Additionally, you will need:

  • primer;
  • tile adhesive;
  • notched trowel;
  • rule and level;
  • crosses for seams 1.5 mm;
  • grout;
  • tile cutter or grinder.

If the tile is unglazed, you will additionally need a special protective compound for material surface treatment.

Without this, the tile will absorb moisture and get more dirty, which will negatively affect the appearance of the cladding and shorten its service life. Let us consider in detail the installation of just such an unglazed tile, 12.7x12.7 cm in size and 9 mm thick.

Step 1. To spend protective treatment, tiles should be laid out on a flat surface front side up. This can be done on the floor by placing under facing material hardboard sheet. Tiles are laid out as densely as possible to reduce the consumption of funds.

Step 2 Take a water-repellent primer designed specifically for unglazed tiles and stone. In our case, this is a solvent-based Fila FilaFob. Since the primer has a pungent odor, the room where the treatment is carried out must be ventilated.

Step 3 Pour a small amount of primer into a container, impregnate the roller and apply the agent to the surface of the tile. It is necessary to roll out carefully so that the liquid penetrates well into the pores of the material and there are no dry areas left.

Step 4 After completing the processing, leave the tile in this position for several hours, until the surface is completely dry. As a rule, it takes from 3 to 5 hours, depending on the temperature in the room.

Step 5 Start preparing the foundation. It should be perfectly even, since laying is done on a thin layer of glue and the slightest differences will lead to a mismatch of the edges of the tile, that is, small steps form on the lining. Therefore, you should carefully check the plane with a level and eliminate the defects found with a solution or glue. After drying, the repaired areas must be sanded and the floor vacuumed.

Step 6 A dry, clean and even floor is treated with a primer using a wide brush or roller. If the composition is quickly absorbed, it must be applied in two layers.

Step 7 After the surface has dried, tiles are laid out on the floor to determine how many elements need to be cut. The layout starts from the wall opposite the entrance: the row should consist of whole tiles and clear halves so that a perfectly even line forms at the junction of the floor and wall. At the side walls, it is allowed to use a large pruning, that is, most of the tiles.

How the marking is done: a whole tile is applied from above to the lining, the seams are exactly aligned, and then a line is drawn under the ruler along the intended cut with a pencil. To make the tile lie more evenly, one of the scraps can be placed under it.

If the cladding fits close to the wall, and it is impossible to try on the whole tile, they act differently. To calculate the length of the edge of the cut element, the ruler is laid on the tile along the seam, resting the end against the wall. Having measured the required length, transfer it to a separate tile and mark it with a pencil. Then they put this tile on the already glued one, aligning the seams to the millimeter, and along the mark, lay the ruler parallel to the wall and draw a cut line.

Step 8 Tile adhesive is prepared, collected with a comb and applied to the floor from the wall to the width of the tile. The composition is leveled along the wall and grooves are formed with a spatula. Carefully lay the tiles one after the other, very carefully level the plane, then insert crosses into each seam.

Advice. Due to the small size of the tile, the displacement of the seams occurs almost imperceptibly, but with each subsequent row, the mismatch of the joints will increase. It is very difficult to correct such defects, therefore, it is imperative to control the laying by the rule, attaching it to the ends of the tiles in each row.

Step 9 At the side walls, where it is already difficult to reach with a notched trowel, they do it a little differently. Glue is applied to the back of the tile and grooves are formed with a comb, and on the floor adhesive composition Apply with a small spatula and spread thinly over the surface.

Step 10 Having reached the doorway, the tiles are laid out on the floor without glue and the cut line is marked exactly according to the level. Trimming is performed, after which this row is glued to the floor.

Advice. The line of the junction of the cladding of the bathroom floor and floor covering in the corridor should be exactly under the door leaf. Offset from plane outer wall towards the bathroom should be 1.5-2 cm.

After the lining is completed, the room is left for a day so that the glue dries, then the seams are cleaned, the surface is vacuumed and wiped clean. The next step is grouting. The grouting process is carried out as standard, as for traditional tiles: the composition is applied with a soft spatula, filling all the recesses, the excess is removed. After drying, the remaining grout is removed with a damp sponge.

Traditional tile leveling is time consuming and requires attention and diligence. For a beginner, this is one of the main problems when lining a bathroom, and mistakes are made most often here. But there is a great opportunity to simplify the work and achieve the perfect result with the help of special alignment systems.

The Tile Leveling System (SVP) is a plastic elements in the form of flags and wedges that are interconnected and fix the tiles in the desired position.

The main difference between this laying is that individual tiles without glue are assembled into small blocks, or segments, and then glued to the floor.

The floor is flat

How does it work in practice?

Step 1. On a table or something flat surface 5-6 tiles are placed face up and flags are inserted between them. During operation, you need to follow the direction of the edges indicated by the factory markings.

Grout "Kesto" with antiseptics antifungal

The thickness of the flags is 1.5 mm, which fits almost any tile. This method of laying can significantly reduce the time finishing works and achieve a perfectly flat plane. Of course, the rough base should also be as level as possible, otherwise it will not be possible to lay the tiles with high quality.

Bathroom design in modern style- one of the most popular trends in interior design, it combines all the current ideas about beauty, practicality and comfort.

Diversity is not always easy to understand finishing materials, types of sanitary equipment and make the right choice. If you are going to make repairs in a plumbing room, first of all you need to have a good idea of what means you can achieve the desired result.

The bathroom is often humid, and walls and floors can be exposed to direct water. Because it is used hot water, then the room must withstand not only high humidity, but also elevated temperature, and exposure to steam. Accordingly, when choosing finishing materials or furniture, you must keep this in mind.

In addition, a modern bathroom is often used as a laundry room - if the area allows. A washer and dryer are installed here, as well as a place to store laundry for washing. Household chemicals are also usually stored in the bathroom - after all, plumbing most often has to be washed here. Based on the purpose of the room, choose the equipment for it.

Modern finishing materials for the bathroom

In order for the design of a bathroom in a modern style to be practical, it is necessary to choose materials for finishing that will withstand high humidity at elevated temperatures, will be little dirty and easy to clean, and will retain their attractive appearance for a long time. Consider the materials most commonly used in bathroom decoration.

Walls
  • Dye. The most budget option. There are no color restrictions. The surface can be both matte and glossy, there is also the possibility of textured coloring, which gives volume.
  • Wallpaper. Modern moisture-resistant wallpaper is inexpensive, but short-lived. It will be necessary to frequently update the appearance of the room.
  • Plastic panels. They are attached to the crate, so that there is a gap between the wall and the panels. In the interior, they can imitate any material - natural stone, marble, tile, while being much cheaper.
  • Ceramic tile. The most traditional material. The main disadvantage is the high cost of facing work. In terms of durability and resistance to difficult conditions exploitation is one of the best options. Dirt does not “stick” to the smooth surface of the tile, it is easy to clean and can be used for decades.
  • Porcelain tile. The pros and cons are the same as ceramic tiles. As a rule, it is used in eco-oriented interiors, as it has a natural origin and a specific appearance.
  • natural materials. Marble, wood, natural stone - all these materials can be used in bathrooms after appropriate processing, which facilitates subsequent care. They are expensive and are used in exclusive interiors.

Ceiling
  • Dye. The traditional way to finish the ceiling is to paint in the selected tone. The main plus is budget, the main minus is the impossibility of embedding ceiling lights.
  • Drywall. Drywall can also be used in the bathroom, but it must be moisture resistant. This solution is suitable for large bathrooms, especially in older houses where drywall constructions communications can be hidden.
  • Tile. Sometimes the ceiling is covered with tiles, for example, mirrored. This solution makes it possible to visually "raise" the ceilings. Mirrors in damp rooms tend to sweat, which reduces their attractiveness.
  • Suspended ceiling. The ceiling of plastic panels is the most popular solution. It will last a long time, while not losing its attractive appearance. It is easy to embed spotlights in such a ceiling, you can hide wiring or pipes under it. Installation of such ceilings is not particularly difficult. On the ceiling of a bathroom in a modern style, a false ceiling made of stained glass will look great - the backlight arranged behind it will increase the illumination, and the stained glass will give the room an exclusivity.
  • Stretch ceiling. IN Lately pretty popular option. An absolute plus is a huge variety of design solutions that allow you to radically change the perception of the bathroom. Another positive quality is resistance to “leaks”.

Floor
  • Tile. Ceramic tiles are the best solution for bathroom flooring in a modern style. Among the variety of its types, it is easy to choose the one that is right for you. In terms of price-quality ratio, this is also the best option.
  • Porcelain tile. This material has gained strong popularity due to its natural stone texture and exceptional operational properties- it is strong, durable and also does not slip at all, which is extremely important for those rooms where the floor can be wet.
  • Bulk floor. Floors of this type can turn a bathroom into a forest thicket near a stream or seashore, the resulting effect looks very realistic, there is a complete sense of presence.
  • Tree. Before using wood as a floor covering, it must be treated to withstand high humidity, or special species such as aspen, larch, teak should be used. All this significantly increases the cost of both material and work.

Bathroom design in modern style

Bathroom design in a modern style depends on the size of the room. In large bathrooms, separate zones can be distinguished - “wet”, washbasin, toilet, laundry area. Usually, zones for different purposes are separated from each other by partitions - either capital or glass, and visual zoning is also used with the help of finishing materials.

A small bathroom area should not be an obstacle to modern comfort. At the same time, the bathtub is replaced with a shower cabin, which saves space and even accommodates a laundry room, which would otherwise be impossible.

The style of the interior design of the bathroom can be anything, while it does not need to repeat the style of other rooms in the apartment. The main thing is that the styles are logically combined with each other. The most suitable, especially for small bathrooms, is the minimalist style, as well as Scandinavian minimalism. These styles allow, with a minimum of expressive means, to obtain the most functional space that has a modern and concise design.

Recently, eco-style has become especially popular. The use of natural materials or their artificial imitations, combined with simple forms, is the main trend of recent years.

The preferred colors for bathroom design in a modern style are natural. As the main ones are used: blue, blue, beige, brown, green or white. They should not be dark, so as not to reduce the illumination of the room and visually "compress" it.

Equipment and plumbing for bathroom interior

When equipping a bathroom in a modern style, they try to use items that combine several functions. For example, a bathtub is combined with a shower cabin, which saves space and increases comfort.

The sink is often combined with a washing machine, removing the latter under the countertop - thereby freeing up the area of \u200b\u200bthe bathroom.

Good decision - vertical arrangement equipment, for example, a washing machine and a dryer are placed one above the other, which again saves space. They try to hide the technique in the interior, but bath textiles and accessories, on the contrary, are left in sight and used as decorative elements for the design of the room.

The shapes and colors of sanitary ware are selected based on the chosen design style. If possible, plumbing is made hinged, fixing it on the wall - this visually facilitates the interior and simplifies cleaning.

If the size of the room allows, you can use non-traditional design solutions - this can increase the comfort of using the bathroom and give the interior an exclusivity. For example, separately standing bath, especially from natural materials, will immediately emphasize the solidity and prosperity of its owner.

Modern style bathroom lighting

Bathroom interiors in a modern style are very demanding in terms of lighting. As a rule, there are several lighting scenarios that are used in various situations. In addition to the general light, which, as a rule, spotlights are responsible for, bathrooms use mirror lighting, separately hanging sconces, suspensions in wash areas, and false windows.

Very interesting solution the issue of increasing illumination - replacing the standard door leaf on frosted glass. Another option is to lay out part of the wall of glass blocks. This will not only increase the illumination of the room, but also give the interior an individuality.

Nothing superfluous, but it has everything you need to perform water and sanitary procedures. Minimal decoration allows you to create concise and fresh images even in small rooms.

Fashion trends - finishing

Innovative materials are constantly appearing on the market, created according to modern technologies. Such products allow not only to create an original interior decoration, but also to simplify the process of cleaning indoors with a special microclimate.

The most fashionable trend in the decoration of bathrooms is the combination of materials. And the point is not only in the combination of large tiles with mosaic decoration, but in the principle neighborhood of concrete and plastered walls, glossy ceramics and textured wooden surface, "pebble" floor and mirror inserts. The combination of materials allows you to create not only interesting outwardly design options for surfaces, but also to choose best options protection of planes from factors such as high humidity, temperature extremes and various types of mechanical influences.

The ability to combine concrete, stone, wood and metal with traditional bathroom ceramics allows you to create truly original finishes. Wooden or wood-like surfaces with a beautiful natural pattern and matte texture look great in combination with light glossy finishes. With the help of natural wood or its high-quality analogues, you can bring notes of natural warmth and homeliness to a modern interior.

Experts recommend using ceramic (or stone) tiles in medium and large sizes to create a modern and stylish design. To dilute surfaces decorated with large ceramic products you can use a small mosaic or textured tile.

In misspellings original ideas to create a bathroom finish, designers continue the theme of using 3D surfaces. Create your own unique style with 3D ceramic tiles. Such surfaces can be the only decorative element in a minimalist bathroom interior and act as an excellent backdrop for sanitary ware and furnishings.

In modern bathroom design projects, there are many glass and mirror surfaces. The ability to multiply the light radiation with the help of mirrors, reflecting the rays, helps to visually expand the boundaries of the room, create a light and relaxing image of the space. In turn, glass surfaces perfectly transmit light and seem to dissolve in the interior, but at the same time they perfectly protect against moisture and zone the room. Glass and mirrors often become part of the decoration in bathrooms of a wide variety of configurations, sizes and shapes.

Modern style - plumbing

The modern bathroom combines not only modern design with innovative technology, but also functionality with art. After all, the creation of not only ergonomic and comfortable, but also aesthetic interior- "aerobatics" in terms of the design of living spaces. Modern design projects are full of original details, creative design solutions. And the main idea of the non-trivial design of bathrooms is aimed at creating practical, safe, comfortable, but at the same time outwardly original sanitary ware.

Great design is always the result of bold decisions and the latest innovations. Modern plumbing, as well as accessories to it (faucets and faucets) is a combination of environmentally friendly solutions with creative ideas designers. The emergence of new materials and technologies for their processing makes it possible to create more durable, resistant to various types loads and impacts plumbing devices. Ceramics has become more malleable, "flexible", as a result, each new collection of sanitary ware from leading manufacturers becomes a real work of art, full of innovative solutions.

Designers of modern plumbing fixtures are inspired by two opposite trends - on the one hand, we see the smoothness of lines and absolute harmony with such a natural phenomenon as water, and on the other, the rigor and clarity of forms, even some aggressiveness of geometric solutions that become accents in any design of a utilitarian space.

Suspended plumbing structures continue to be popular with modern designers and their customers. Console toilet, bidet or sink look very stylish. All engineering systems and cistern“hidden” behind false panels, it is very easy to clean the room, and the installation of such plumbing helps save precious centimeters of usable bathroom space.

Actual color schemes

The color scheme does not go out of fashion, allowing you to create design solutions close to nature. Natural shades are more relevant than ever. If we talk about the choice of color for creating a bathroom finish, then all shades of white and pastel colors have become absolute favorites, allowing not only to create the perfect background for plumbing and furniture, but also to visually increase the volume of the room. Within small spaces, the visual expansion of the boundaries of the room becomes paramount. And its main "tools" are color, light and form.

A bright bathroom will always be in trend. The use of snow-white shades for finishing a utilitarian space helps not only to visually increase its volume, but also to create a clean, light and fresh image that is most authentic to the idea of what many people think about what a water and sanitary facilities should be like. But experts warn against using light colors to decorate all bathroom surfaces. Use a dark color for flooring, at the very least. An absolutely white room looks "shapeless", dissolves in space and does not give an idea of the boundaries of surfaces, which can lead to emotional disorientation, instead of the expected relaxation and rest.

For the execution of storage systems that most often have simple shapes and laconic design, the following color schemes will be relevant:

  • smoky shades;
  • graphite and other shades gray color;
  • earthy;
  • beige with many color options;
  • "cappuccino";
  • "bitter chocolate";
  • "truffle".

Gray color has become one of the undisputed favorites in the design of premises for various purposes. Bathrooms are no exception. Various shades of gray can create not only the perfect neutral background for snow-white plumbing, but also go well with the shine of plumbing accessories, mirror and glass surfaces. There is a lot of nobility and calm, peaceful luxury in gray. By diluting the gray palette with surfaces made of wood (or its high-quality analogue) and white plumbing, you can get a truly modern and stylish design of a utilitarian room.

Imitation marble with gray veins on a white background will never go out of style. Traditional surfaces can be imitated by ceramics and artificial stone. The result is an up-to-date current trends design, but with an emphasis on the classics.

Anyone who does not like "boring" bright bathroom design projects can safely bet on the modern trend in room design - black and white contrasts. The combination of snow-white and dark (most often graphite or glossy black) surfaces allows you to create an original, dynamic design in which it will be easy to feel the tone and surge of strength and energy.

For those who find contrasting variations in bathroom design not colorful enough, we can offer a dosed use of bright colors. Whether it will be the use of an accent surface or the integration of bright sanitary ware (piece of furniture) - in any case, it is necessary to choose one bright spot in alliance with a light or neutral main background.

Bathroom accessories - the finishing touch

Despite the desire of modern style for a minimalist setting, it is impossible to do without accessories in the bathroom. Moreover, the additional elements include such necessary fixtures as faucets, taps, shower heads, bath handles, rugs, hygiene kits, towels, shower curtains and more.

Modern additional elements for plumbing, it’s not just faucets and faucets, these are innovative devices that can save water consumption by spraying the jet into tiny drops, create illumination for chromotherapy, and even heat and purify water. But in addition to their functional qualities, bathroom accessories can decorate the interior, become its accents and bring originality to the design of the room.

In modern bathroom design projects, the lighting system plays a crucial role. In addition to performing its main function, lighting and compositions from them become decorative elements. You can use point light sources or embed illumination lines, but as a result, it is important to get not just a well-lit room, but a visual expansion of its area and the creation of interesting optical effects.

The combination of styles - the balance of classic and modern

The modern style mixes elements inherent in various stylistic trends. Here and minimalism, and loft, Scandinavian style, and eclecticism, classical motifs and industrial. Harmonious combination of trends various styles allows you to create simple (outwardly, but not in terms of construction), but at the same time interesting interiors in which it is convenient and comfortable for everyone.

Spacious bathrooms can afford the integration of classic motifs in a modern style. Storage systems with classic decor and execution or a luxurious frame for a mirror, lighting fixtures with a touch of baroque - all these interior elements will not only dilute the rather laconic design of the bathroom, but also raise the degree of uniqueness.

When decorating modern bathrooms, you can often find borrowing country and eco-style motifs. Closeness to nature is most easily reflected in the use of materials such as stone and wood. So many contradictory materials in terms of their aesthetic and technological properties are able to create harmonious unions within the design project of one room. Even some rusticity in the use of materials is acceptable in bathroom design.

Bathroom 2019: current design ideas

Many when buying new apartment without renovation pay special attention to the bathroom to make it as modern as possible. As a rule, when celebrating a housewarming party, guests completely inspect the interior of the entire apartment, but the bathroom is the most desired element, as it can be done in a sophisticated, modern style.

In addition, I want to make a bathroom such that the design will be relevant for many years. How to do this and what are the trends today - we will tell in the article.

bathroom design

The bathroom is considered one of the most important places in the apartment. Here you can retire, relax, enjoy swimming and clean up. That is why it needs to be made exactly the way that will ideally present good emotions.

Today, there are many modern bathroom ideas as people's tastes are constantly changing. When renovating a bathroom, be sure to pay special attention to such elements as:

  • walls in the bathroom;
  • finishing in the bathroom;
  • mirror in the bathroom;
  • bathroom lighting.

The walls in the bathroom are a great opportunity to use your imagination and make them exactly the way that will perfectly match all modern trends.

As a rule, today it is quite common to decorate walls with various black and white mosaics to attract attention. Or vice versa, they do not decorate the walls at all and hang as many different mirrors as possible. The walls and floor set the interior of the entire room, this must be taken into account when finishing.

As for the finish itself, it is advisable not to think about choosing tiles for the walls, since this is more of an outgoing design option. The photo of a modern bathroom shows that plaster walls are most often used and their further painting.

To make the interior really seem modern, you need to paint the walls in the same tone, or similar to each other, for example, black and brown. You can freely choose between colors, the main thing is that the walls visually show the same concept, idea.

The mirror is considered one of the most important elements of the bathroom. This is the attribute that performs its function 24 hours a day and it should always win you over. True, the choice of a mirror depends on the area of \u200b\u200bthe room, but if there is really enough space, you can choose a large option that will harmoniously fill all the free space on the wall. In the modern age of “selfies”, you always want to have large mirrors for photographing.

Lighting is equally important, as the layout of the room does not provide for windows in the bathroom. You can use the standard option - hang a chandelier in the center if the bathroom is small. But there are also separate modern ideas for a small bathroom, in which special attention is paid to lighting.

This is still true, if such a lighting option really complements the concept. In another case, it would be better to prepare a stretch ceiling with small LED bulbs. If the interior is made in bright light, then there is simply no point in equipping a huge number of light bulbs.

Room layout

The layout of the bathroom is the most important element not only in design, but also in connecting to central water supply and drainage. In any case, you will need to think about repairs based on the technical capabilities of the room.

But there are some other rules that you need to consider if you really want to make a bathroom in a modern version. Among them are the following aspects:

  • doors opening inward;
  • washbasin at the entrance;
  • the location of the bathroom is closer to communications.

It is very important that the room has its own autonomy and is not strongly connected with your apartment if you want to create a modern bathroom design.

The decoration should be different from other rooms, and the doors should open inward to emphasize their independence. If the room is small and it is impossible to do this, then this stage can be ignored and done as it will.

When a person enters the bathroom, it is important to draw his attention to the washbasin, as the sink can be decorated better than the same bath, toilet or walls. Colorfully arranged shelves around the sink, other paraphernalia and other things can create a kind of composition that you just want to approach.

The standard version of the mirror by the sink is as relevant today as it was before. No one wants to wash and look in the mirror in different places.

You must always take into account the technical capabilities of the room, and no matter what the ideas of a beautiful bathroom interior are today, you need to build on the possibilities.

Popular trends in 2018

In 2017, one could meet completely different layouts, design, as well as approaches to arranging a bathroom.

Gradually improving their tastes throughout the year, most owners have come to the conclusion that it will be prettier and more pleasant to use some approaches that will become a real trend in 2018. The modern bathroom of 2018 should adhere to the following points:

  • monochromatic styles;
  • matte tiles;
  • massive ceramics;
  • large mirrors.

The uniformity of the bathroom is a really important aspect. Psychologists say that if you decorate a bathroom in the same colors, such a room is much easier to perceive, it is better to relax and spend time in it.

If done in brighter, more colorful and aggressive colors, in such a room, as a rule, they do not linger for a long time. Relevant for hotels or public toilets, but certainly not for their personal premises.

Matte tiles and massive ceramics also soothe and give the room solidity. The bathroom should visually appear larger, create the effect of a real work of art, and not just an attribute for your quick affairs. The dullness of the tiles absorbs light, you can make a cozy composition.

Large mirrors, as already mentioned, play an important role if the bathroom has large dimensions. It is beautiful, popular and will be a modern version for a very long time.

Today, the bathroom is considered a kind of work of art, and it’s much more pleasant to be in it yourself. cozy place than in a standard room of the same type.

Photo of a modern bathroom

Most of the inhabitants of our country live in apartments with standard layouts, and it seems that some kind of interesting design the interior is simply not possible.

However, even in a room of 4 - 6 sq.m. you can embody some ideas of modern bathroom design, which is based on "three pillars": the use of natural materials in decoration, multifunctional furniture and stylish accessories and plumbing.

Bathroom design in different styles

To begin with, you will need to decide on the stylistic direction of your bathroom design. You should have a clear and understandable general concept for the design of the room in your head.

It must be remembered that the real beautiful bathrooms- these are premises that have their own individual, carefully selected image, which is maintained even in small things. That is why, before planning an interior design, it is better to familiarize yourself with the most relevant style trends today and choose the right one, taking into account your aesthetic preferences.

You should also pay attention to the dimensions of the bathroom, since luxurious furniture and accessories, typical, for example, for baroque or classicism, require a lot of space, an abundance of light and air. And minimalism or Japanese style is good for chamber rooms.

Bathroom design in scandinavian style

The Scandinavian-style interior is distinguished by a fairly light color scheme. White is most often used as the base color, which is complemented by some bright accents. The room should be very bright, due to this, the illusion of spaciousness is created. Natural finishing materials are used. It is better to choose bathroom furniture with minimal processing and natural texture, for example, birch or oak. Bright accents are best created using original bathroom accessories or textiles. It should be noted that in the Scandinavian design of the bathroom there is no place for a shower cabin in the form in which it is found in building supermarkets, because. it will not be in harmony with the general mood and aesthetics of the room. If you want to free up space as much as possible by installing a shower cabin, then you will need to resort to specialists and implement a shower cabin in the form of glass partitions without a pallet, with a drain built directly into the floor.

Urban bathroom design

The main task of the modern urban style is to create the most functional design in a limited space. The main features that the design of your bathroom should match are thoughtfulness of all details, convenience and impeccable style. Use modular furniture in the interior, various built-in niches and cabinets for storing cosmetics and textiles. home appliances it is better to build in a closet. To expand and make the most of the space, consider combining the toilet and bathroom.

The main color of the bathroom, made in urban style, is gray.

In the design of the bathroom, you should use materials that correspond to the urban style, namely glass, stone, wood and plastic. An acceptable finish for an “urban” bathroom will be concrete painted in one color. You can choose any shade of gray, white, light beige or brutal black. Remember that the urban style is not characterized by smooth lines, but rather, on the contrary, clear contours and boundaries. The ideal solution for a bathroom in the spirit of "urban" would be a rectangular or square-shaped sink and a shower cabin with completely transparent glass partitions without drip tray with floor drain. To make the walls of the bathroom with a concrete effect, you can use a specialized spatula suitable for finishing wet rooms. It imitates concrete well, is applied similarly to plaster. Moreover, you can update the interior without removing the old tiles, because. spatula mass allows application to tile. You can also use decorative plaster to decorate the walls in the bathroom.

Loft style bathroom design

Loft is a kind of urban style. The literal translation sounds like an attic or attic, i.e. We are talking about premises not intended for living (non-residential). A striking hallmark of the loft is its bohemianism, which distinguishes it from the usual urban style. The room to create an interior in the loft style should be spacious. Most likely, you will have to demolish the partition between the bathroom and the toilet. To make a stylish loft bathroom design, you will need to combine elements of urbanism with modern technology, an abundance of mirrors, glass surfaces and non-standard accessories (bright posters, road signs, etc.). The walls of the bathroom should be with imitation of "bare" brickwork or concrete without any finishing. For a loft style, a sink in the form of a metal bowl is ideal. The toilet should also be non-standard, so if you are planning to design a bathroom in a loft style, then you will have to spend a lot of money, despite its apparent simplicity at first glance.

A characteristic feature of loft-style interior design is “bare” brickwork.

Art Deco bathroom design

Art Deco style can be described as luxurious, fashionable, luxury. To create an art deco interior, expensive finishing materials, fine wood furniture, and exclusive accessories are used. In such a luxurious interior, as a rule, there are columns, statues, crystal chandeliers and candelabra. An art deco bathroom should have expensive sanitary ware, Italian from the latest collection, marble countertops, plaster or glass figurines, an abundance of accessories that dazzle with their golden sheen and other luxury items. Art Deco is characterized by geometry (remember the intro to the recently released film Gatsby). Stylish geometric patterns should serve as a decoration for walls, furniture or accessories. Traditional art deco interior colors: black, burgundy, purple, white, gold, brown.

The main finishing material should be chosen bright ceramic tiles - either in a contrasting combination of white and black, or in the form mosaic panel golden, coffee, chocolate or purple hues. It is better to use saturated colors in doses - inserts, and make the main background neutral: creamy, ivory, milky.

Latest corner bath, unusual shape the washbasin and bidet will fit perfectly into the interior of the Art Deco style bathroom.

Furniture is needed rectangular, with patterned decorative overlays and large, shiny fittings. Excellent art objects will be a designer heated towel rail and a mirror in a relief frame depicting the sun.

For those who love self-expression on the verge of outrageous, a bathroom design in this style is ideal.

Retro bathroom design

If you like bright colors and extravagance, then retro style is most likely for you. In recent years, this style is experiencing a rebirth. It is again in demand both in the beauty industry and in interior design. Designing a bathroom in retro style is not so difficult. A lot of original accessories made in the spirit of the 50s and 60s are now on sale.

Choose a distressed bathroom set, buy Andy Warhol à la posters, retro sanitary ware and arrange bright accents with the help of accessories, and now your stylish "retro" bathroom is ready. In a “retro” interior, it is better to use either a bright contrasting palette or, on the contrary, muted pastel colors. It all depends on your personal preferences.

Asian style bathroom design

It is for bathroom design that a discreet Asian style is often chosen. Perhaps this is due to the desire to create an atmosphere of calm and tranquility in the bathroom. An integral element of oriental interiors are fragrant, spicy aromas hovering in the air, which help to relax and calm down after a hard day. The interior itself is quite concise and non-irritating. Finishing should be made of natural materials (stone, wood, clay). The light is better to make a little muffled. On the countertop next to the sink, you can put decorative fountain or a small planter with a beautiful orchid or bamboo stalks. Finding Asian-style interior items in modern furniture and home goods hypermarkets is now easy. Focusing on the Asian-style bathroom design photo, you will understand what you need to create it.

Bathroom design in Japanese style looks exotic, but for those who view bathing as The best way relaxation is perhaps the ideal option.

Wood or bamboo must be present in the wall decoration, at least in small quantities, if we are talking about small rooms. IN last resort, shelves, footrest and accessories can be made from these materials.

The interior of a bathroom is inconceivable without traditional shoji partitions made of translucent paper stretched over wooden frame. A similar design, or its imitation using plastic or glass, is good to use as a screen for the toilet and bidet. The fact is that it is not customary for the Japanese to install any plumbing in the bathing room, except for the bath. In addition, sliding "shoji" will successfully replace the usual swing door.

As an idea for a Japanese-style bathroom, we can recommend an imitation of an “ofuro” bathing barrel - sheathe an ordinary acrylic container with wood, and make a decorative strip of pebbles on the floor around or put some beautiful stones.

Furniture should be chosen in a minimalist style, roomy, so that all but the most necessary things are hidden, and not lying in plain sight. important detail lighting is - it should be diffused, dim and as close to natural as possible.

Ethnic style bathroom design

Ethnic style is original and difficult to perform, because. consists of many seemingly incompatible parts. To create it in the interior, folk motifs are widely used. Colors for the interior are chosen warm and pleasant: sand, terracotta, beige, olive, mustard, brown. The closeness to nature is emphasized by the abundance of wood in the decoration. Tables and chests of drawers can be made of rough and unhewn wood. Often upholstered furniture and carpets are decorated with animal prints. For decoration, wooden masks, figurines, clay vases, metal or wooden bowls are used. The flight of fantasy is unlimited, the main thing is to choose a general direction. Ethnic style may contain African, Indian, Japanese, Spanish or Mexican motifs.

Ethnic motifs in the design of the bathroom.

Classic style bathroom design involves the use of expensive finishing materials - natural wood, marble, exclusive ceramic tiles. Fragments of walls, where there are no direct sources of water, can be covered with wallpaper with embossed or classic patterns, or plastered and decorated with hand-painted.

Furniture should be solid, preferably carved, with gilded or bronze fittings. Here, a natural stone countertop is preferable to an ordinary washbasin cabinet, and a large mirror in an exquisite frame should be hung above it.

When choosing plumbing fixtures for a classic-style bathroom interior, you should pay attention to products of traditional shape, light colors. A bathtub with legs and an oval washbasin in retro design will fit perfectly into the created image. In this case, taps and “antique” showers are good, without them the picture will seem incomplete.

As for modern novelties like a jacuzzi or a shower, you should not refuse them - in combination with classic furniture and decor, they will look quite harmonious. And that's all engineering Communication must be hidden from prying eyes.

Decorated in a classic style, the bathroom is maintained in calm colors. All varieties of white are welcome in combination with ocher, light olive, sand and cream shades.

As for accessories, such interiors often use antiques, both functional and related to objects of art, as well as paintings, placing them in a recreation area, away from the water.

For a classic-style bathroom, natural light is ideal.

Timeless classic

If we consider the design of bathrooms in an ordinary apartment, then most often it approaches precisely minimalist style. This direction is great for small rooms, due to the limited number of furnishings and the almost complete absence of decor.

Minimalism is only light colors, with a predominance of white, laconic forms of furniture and plumbing, compact storage spaces, the absence of everything superfluous. Ergonomics and functionality raised to the highest degree and become art.

Large ceramic tiles, waterproof paints, plaster, natural or artificial stone, wood are used for decoration.

The furniture has its own aesthetics and it is in a unique level of comfort, fine selection of colors, use of the most advanced technologies.

Thanks to the meticulous selection of all the details, the design of the bathroom in the style of minimalism impresses no less than the luxurious design of classic interiors.

Bathroom in the style of minimalism or "nothing more"

Provence is one of the best options for decorating spacious bathrooms. This style will appeal to adherents of classical traditions, who prefer an ingenuous style to ceremonial pomposity. home comfort, and brilliance and gilding - discreet beauty of natural materials.

The design of the bathroom in the spirit of Provence involves a combined wall decoration, for example, wood panels or ceramic tiles in combination with waterproof paint. It is possible to use wallpaper, but this option for decorating bathrooms is extremely rare.

Furniture should be streamlined, without sharp corners and aggressive lines. The facades of the lockers are artificially aged, covered with carvings (or its imitation), or painted by hand to create the desired color.

Transparent partitions, furniture of a simple form, but with a functional “stuffing”, as well as ultra-modern plumbing, preferably “smart”, are welcome. It is in this style, like nowhere else, that the design of a bathroom without a bathtub is appropriate, when for water procedures shower stall or compartment are selected.

Modern is the best thing created in the age of high technology. If a bathtub is already left, then it is made of transparent acrylic, and a similar sink is included with it, moreover, it is suspended with the same cabinet or chest of drawers. And no supports, which have long been considered yesterday.

And the bathroom in modern style requires stretch ceilings recognized ideal option for wet rooms in terms of aesthetics and hygiene.

Modern style is equally suitable for both spacious and intimate rooms. It is only important to correctly place accents and not overload the interior so that each piece of furniture remains exclusive.

The Mediterranean is a region with ancient traditions and beautiful nature. It includes Greece, as well as partly Italy and Spain. There is a lot of sun and sea in this region, and echoes of ancient times are still felt in the local culture.

Mediterranean style allows you to create incredibly beautiful bathrooms in any area and this is one of its main advantages.

The color scheme of the room should be kept in warm, "sunny" colors, but muted, without sharp contrasts. Suitable shades of eggshell, ocher, terracotta, beige, sand or olive.

Of the finishing materials, large ceramic tiles or marble and textured plaster are preferred, at least fragmentarily, in some areas. Borders with a classic meander, a popular ancient Greek ornament, are welcome.

The bath should be done with a podium of several steps. The furniture is light, elegant without excessive pretentiousness, perhaps with forged elements. The material is natural wood or MDF, but not plastic or other modern polymers.

Decorative ideas for a Mediterranean-style bathroom can be very diverse. As accessories, wicker baskets and pallets, vases made of unglazed red clay, reminiscent of Greek amphoras, textile bathroom curtains and exotic "seafood" will be good.

Mediterranean style in bathroom design

To create a bathroom interior design in oriental style will have to work hard. First you need to decide which country's cultural traditions will form the basis of the decor. In our case, we will talk about exotic and beautiful in its mystery interiors of Morocco.

The first thing you should pay attention to is the finishing tile. It should have a characteristic "oriental" pattern, which folds into an intricate ornament. Such a tile is very colorful, so not the whole room is finished with it, alternating with a special waterproof Tadelakt plaster of rich blue, turquoise, terracotta or crimson shades.

Apertures in the walls and decorative elements, for example, a mirror frame, are given an arched finish. Furniture is chosen from natural wood or MDF, laconic form, preferably with openwork inserts. To divide the space, if the room is spacious enough, carved screens can be used.

Morocco in bathroom design

The design of the bathroom in the style of "high technology" is like a look into the future from the present, an image inspired by the works of science fiction writers and the work of futurists.

Straight lines, monochrome colors, the predominance of metal, glass and modern synthetic materials are all easily recognizable high-tech elements.

Large ceramic tiles, artificial stone, and sometimes plaster imitating exposed concrete are used to finish walls and floors.

In such an interior, only a shower cabin is appropriate, and if the area of \u200b\u200bthe room allows, you can purchase models combined with a bathroom - this is both aesthetically pleasing and comfortable.

The best solution would be built-in furniture, as if merged with the plane of the wall. As decor, glass shelves are used above the washbasin, which, since we are talking about hi-tech, will look more like a hanging sculpture made in the best traditions of modernism.

The design of the bathroom in this case does not provide for accessories, and lighting performs the main decorative function.

Lamps will need a variety and in large quantities. For the ceiling, especially if it is stretched, dot built-in models or spots are suitable. But the shower cabin and mirror can be additionally highlighted with neon lamps. Bright shades - blue, purple or yellow will create a special "alien" atmosphere in the room, inherent only in hi-tech.

High tech bathroom design

bathroom in rustic style- An excellent choice for a country house, because it will require a spacious room, preferably with natural light and ventilation.

Walls in country interiors are finished with light-colored ceramic tiles, using borders and inserts with floral patterns. But wood panels at half the height of the room will be especially good here, combined with plaster of a deliberately rough texture. If possible - that is, the room is well ventilated, which protects it from excessive moisture, it is better to stop at the second option.

For the floor, unglazed tiles in warm, terracotta shades are suitable.

Furniture should be simple, wooden, with brass fittings. It is good to purchase antique plumbing fixtures from the same metal as a set for it. Open shelves lined with home-made natural cosmetics or serving as storage for bath towels will harmoniously complement the overall picture. And the washbasin will perfectly fit into a massive countertop made of wood or natural stone, which will be much more appropriate than an ordinary cabinet.

It is better to choose an oval-shaped bath with legs - modern models, as well as showers will violate the "purity of style."

Another important component of the country direction is textiles. No rustic bathroom interior is complete without fabric curtains, if not on the windows, then at least as a shower curtain.

country country

A spacious bathroom with a window allows you to use one of the most sophisticated and at the same time cozy styles- English, or as it is also called, Victorian.

Those who choose this direction will have to abandon many stereotypes. So, the real bathrooms of the Victorian era were more like luxurious living rooms than utility rooms. There was no question of any tiles in them. The walls were covered with wallpaper with a characteristic floral pattern, or painted in green, terracotta or cream shades, and the floors were often made of wood.

Today, parquet has been replaced by ceramic tiles, but otherwise the design of the bathroom is English style did not change.

Plumbing for such interiors is selected in a retro style, great attention is paid to details and accessories. A bathtub with bent legs, covered with dark enamel or hand-painted on the outside, is also a characteristic touch of Victorianism.

And the room is also necessarily decorated with paintings depicting birds or plants and multi-layered textile draperies, while the floors are covered with small carpets.

And, finally, in addition to functional furniture - lockers for storing bathing accessories and cosmetics, Victorian-style bathrooms are equipped with dressing tables, couches for relaxing and a fireplace.

A shabby chic bathroom is more like a boudoir - delicate, pastel shades, an abundance of charming (you can't say otherwise) accessories, floral motifs in the decor, lace textiles.

It is good to relax here after a day full of events or to put yourself in order, intending to plunge into the intense rhythm of everyday life.

For finishing the room, they usually take light waterproof paint - white or cream. Ceramic tiles of milky shades are also suitable, with which panels are laid out at half the height of the walls and the floor.

Shabby chic involves the use of vintage or artificially aged furniture, as if bought at a flea market or found in my grandmother's attic. Headsets with the same type of furnishings are not suitable for this direction. But the washbasin, converted from an old sewing machine and a shelf from the hallway instead of a mirror stand will be appropriate and harmonious.

There should be a lot of accessories: vases, pictures of flowers, a mirror in an ornate frame, vintage lamps and porcelain figurines - all this will find its place and create a unique bathroom design.

There is only one "but". It’s good if the chebia-chic bathroom is not the only one in the house. Since the representatives of the stronger sex in such a room will be uncomfortable.

Bathroom design in different colors

If you chose general style, then it will be easier for you to navigate the color scheme for decorating the bathroom. However, many of us prefer to focus on the color of the bathroom, and not on the style. If you go this way, then to create a harmonious interior, you need to adhere to the following color scheme. To create a "calm" interior:

  • 80% in the design of the bathroom should be occupied by “basic colors” - white, beige, shades of brown, shades of gray, in rare cases black;
  • the remaining 20% of the space should be filled with bright details (textiles, accessories, furniture, lighting elements), or you can do without bright colors at all.

If you want to create a bright and colorful interior, then the separation between "basic" and intense shades should be approximately 50/50.

Photo of a bathroom design with neutral tones.

What issues should be prioritized when meeting?

  1. Ergonomics . This position is crucial for rooms with limited space. It is necessary to arrange furniture and plumbing fixtures in such a way that they do not bump into corners and do not feel bouts of claustrophobia, being afraid to turn around once again in a cramped space.
  2. Safety . According to statistics, the bathroom is the most traumatic room in the house. The reason for this is the wrong choice of flooring, which, when water gets on it, turns into a real ice rink.
  3. Ventilation . High humidity in the bathroom can lead to mold growth. In order to avoid an unpleasant "neighborhood", care should be taken to regularly ventilate the room - natural or forced.
  4. The design of the bathroom depends on the personal preferences of the owner and fashion trends. However, for a small space it is undesirable to choose dark colors, tiles with a colorful pattern, complex decorative shapes. Such techniques are good only in spacious rooms.

To match or not to match

This question is faced by almost every owner of a separate bathroom and bathroom. Such a planning solution has its pros and cons. We list them for those who are just thinking about a combined bathroom and are not yet completely sure of its advantages.

Bathroom and the bathroom is a great tandem:

  • At small sizes both premises. Their combination makes it possible to expand the usable area and install additional equipment, such as a shower cabin, a jacuzzi and a washing machine.
  • If you want to embody the unusual bathroom design and need "space for creativity."
  • When the family is not very large and there are no small children in it.
  • If there is another separate bathroom in the apartment or house.

Now for the cons. It should be remembered that the combination is still a forced decision, dictated by the lack of space.

The main unpleasant moment in this case is the discomfort experienced by family members when one of them wants to soak in the bath, while the other needs to go to the toilet at the same time. Both are unlikely to be satisfied with each other's neighborhood and the only way out here is either to refuse lengthy water procedures so as not to cause inconvenience to loved ones, or to arrange them while no one is in the house.

From an aesthetic point of view, it is also better if the bathtub or shower stall becomes the only plumbing fixtures in the room intended for bathing.

Finishing materials - what to prefer

What materials will help create an exclusive bathroom design, while meeting the basic safety and functionality requirements?

Given the high humidity of the room, for its decoration are suitable:

  • ceramic tile:
  • waterproof paints based on acrylic, latex or silicone;
  • plastic panels;
  • wallpaper;
  • self-adhesive film;
  • natural or artificial stone;
  • tree;
  • waterproof plaster.

Let's start with ceramic tiles - traditional material, with the help of which the most diverse and beautiful bathrooms. Of course, this is the best choice for rooms where condensation constantly forms, provoking the appearance of mold.

The main advantages of ceramic tiles:

  • Versatility. The tile allows you to embody design options in any style - from classic to minimalism. A variety of shapes, colors and textures makes this material very expressive, and thanks to additional decorative elements: borders and inserts with painting or bas-relief, bright accents are created.
  • Wet environment resistance.
  • Hygiene. Ceramic tile is easily cleaned of dirt, its tight fit to the wall does not allow bacteria and pathogenic microflora to accumulate in the cracks.
  • Durability.

To disadvantages ceramic coating should be attributed to the complexity of installation and low impact resistance.

Willing to endure bathroom design V uniform style, many use tiles not only for walls, but also for the floor. The best choice in this case would be porcelain stoneware - it has high strength characteristics and, most importantly, does not slip, even when moisture gets on it.

Artificial stone has similar advantages, the color of which is easy to match the overall color scheme of the interior.

Plastic panels are the most budgetary and fastest way to finish a bathroom. Their advantages:

  • Fast installation.
  • Possibility to hide engineering communications.
  • Resistant to high humidity and temperature extremes.
  • Hygiene, undemanding care.

Of course, refinement of finishes and variety decorative solutions, plastic will not please, but with its help you can change it in a short time bathroom interior.

As far as wallpaper, plaster or waterproof paints are concerned, they should only be used in well-ventilated, spacious rooms. Such materials allow to embody the most creative design projects, use painting or bas-relief in wall decoration, which will make the look of the bathroom exclusive and stylish.

And wallpaper, and plaster, and paint, despite the increased moisture resistance, are not suitable for finishing areas around the bathroom and washbasin, where a direct hit is not ruled out. a large number water. Here it is preferable to use "aprons" made of ceramic tiles or artificial stone.

Bathroom design: selection of furniture and accessories

Recently, interior designers are increasingly giving preference to functional furniture made from natural materials. The goal is to create a comfortable atmosphere for living. Natural, soft textures, warm and calm shades are used. If we talk about the bathroom, then they try to choose compact plumbing and furniture in order to free up space as much as possible. Large massive bathrooms with hydromassage are no longer held in high esteem, preference is given to minimalist trends in the interior. Restraint and elegance are in fashion. A minimum of decor, clear and simple forms. The main features of modern bathroom design: compactness, functionality, elegance.

Bathroom furniture

In the interior of the bathroom, you can increasingly find open niches in which they stand with towels folded into tubes, beautiful bottles of cosmetics and various bathroom accessories. All details are thought out to the smallest detail.

The trend of the 2017 season is marble integrated into the design of the bathroom, for example in the form of marble countertops, marble floor and wall tiles. In the design of the bathroom, furniture with a natural texture is increasingly used. As for plumbing and bathroom accessories, copper, gold, silver and brass are in fashion in 2017.

What should be considered when choosing bathroom furniture?

Thinking through the design of the bathroom, you should take care of the necessary furnishings. If the room is spacious, a standard furniture set - a wall cabinet with a mirror, a bedside table for a washbasin and a pencil case (most often a corner one) can be supplemented with a couch for relaxation or a dressing table.

The current trend is the use of a wide and long countertop into which the sink is mounted. As a rule, the place under such a surface is not empty - there is a multifunctional chest of drawers or several separate cabinets and a washing machine.

Since the bathroom is a room with high humidity and often insufficiently ventilated, special requirements are imposed on furniture:

  • The material from which the furnishings are made must be waterproof. Optimal choice- furniture made of MDF, polyurethane, plastic or metal structures in combination with glass. It is better to refuse products from chipboard, which are attractive primarily for their price. Luxury natural wood furniture is only suitable for spacious rooms with good ventilation.
  • Whatever the design of the bathroom, it is preferable to choose cabinets with legs or hanging to avoid possible contact with water spilled on the floor.
  • For wet rooms, only chrome fittings are suitable - they will not rust and collapse.
  • Chests of drawers, especially corner ones, will optimally solve the problem of compact storage of bath accessories, detergents and other commonly used items in the bathroom.
  • In small rooms, it is better to use vertical furniture - pencil cases or shelving systems.

To make the bathroom look like a single, harmonious space, you should think in advance how the furniture will “interact” with the decoration of the walls, ceiling and floor - whether it will be a nuanced combination or a game of contrasts. And, of course, it is necessary to maintain the general style and color scheme premises.

To summarize and once again recall the main features of modern bathroom design:

  • calm colors inspired by nature;
  • the predominance of natural materials: wood, clay, copper and marble;
  • interior design in a single and understandable style;
  • the use of functional, compact furniture and built-in household appliances;
  • maximum free space;
  • three popular color schemes: "white" Scandinavian design; mysterious, twilight, dark loft; discreet "natural" design.
